CMDA meme
Return it?
The thing is I am an iOS developer and I change my machines (macbooks basically) once in 1-2 years (thanks for a good resale value of Apple products). Not so long ago I sold my rmbp and was hoping to buy a new one on 27 October, but they are so meh to my personal preference that I decided not to jump on this particular refresh.
Next I remembered about gorgeous 5k iMacs that I always wanted to try by myself and was ready to pull the trigger on some, but.
But all my life I have really weak pc's (including macbooks, mac minis, old rusty pc towers and so on). I can't really afford one good pc in the beginning and then I was too busy at work.
I am absolutely in need of macOS capable machine, but I've got some thinking today that for amount of cash I'm going to spend on an iMac I can build a really nice pc tower. The one that I was dreaming about in the past.
So, my main question is: for, say, $2000-$2500 can and should I build a pc or stick with an iMac? I am only worried about the stability of a hackintosh. I have some backup-plan-mac-mini to get work done, but I want my hackintosh machine to be reliable on macOS and powerful in win (to play all the games that I missed). Is it possible?
Can you give me some tips for a beginners? Maybe even some specs I can stick with to start developing my build? Thank you in advance.
Right now I'm planning to build nice tower with skylake and integrated graphics. Something about i5-6400 (+overclock) and hd530. Then in 2017 buy a 1080ti and settle with it for a long long time.

As for the specs check the many hackintosh-related forums (insanelymac, tonymac, etc) they have tiered guides you can choose from.
As for stability, I have no issues whatsoever on my i5-4570, AssRock H81M and R9 270x hack, though the gpu was a bit of a pain to set up.
Stability should be ok, though last time I hackintoshed a PC I read about some problems with skymeme cpus and jewvidia 10 series graphics, but that might have changed.
Try to look at the mac specs and choose parts that are same or similar so that you get native support (As for example the sandy bridge ProBooks and Thinkpads which are pretty much identical to the same era MBPs), without much fiddling with the kexts. Most are compiled by pajeets and such is the end result.
Do your research, the dedicated forums (and >reddit) already contain all the info you need. Hackintoshing is not that complicated when you read up on it.
Okay guys, what can you tell me about this kind of build:
MSI Krait Gaming z170a
i7-6700k
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 970 Xtreme Gaming Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400
Thermaltake TR2 600w
I have some really-really-really good deal on this specs. So, what do you think, is it possible?

Comcast customers, how are you using your 1TB of data this month?
Haven't you heard? The new cap applies everyone in the country now.
Anyone know if it's legal to start selling my spare data off to my neighbors?
>>57334837
Gotta love my uncapped 500 mbps with free spotify for 30$ a month.
>>57334852
(You)
300GB cap here. It's the norm, gotta pay more on top of already being overcharged for shit speeds for uncapped. Actually, there's nothing stopping you from going over your cap; they don't throttle or anything, no, they just charge $5/50GB bracket over, ramping by $5 every 50GB for a maximum off $70 overcharged. Then, it's free.
Dear /g/entoomen, I want to get an "it just werks"-distro.
Currently on Ubuntu, not very good with Linux yet, but don't want a botnet OS..
Will use for programming and web browsing mainly.
Install Gentoo

How difficult would it be to make a program to play Magic with me?

So I upgraded to W10 some time ago and now Youtube videos and even some videos I've seen on Facebook get this weird wave of artifacting at the start for like a few seconds until it sorts itself out.
I've of course tried turning off hardware acceleration on Chrome, but that also fucks up the black levels on videos.
Any ideas? I'm just wondering, if it's W10 fucking up, if it's a common issue or if it's something else before I really get into it.
sounds like you need to buy a better computer, your computer just isn't good enough to handle a modern high-performance operating system like W10.

Not likely. I'm on a i7-6700k with a 1080 GTX.

How could Intel have fucked up so badly that people preferred converting mobile processors like Pentium M into desktop form instead of using this piece of shit?
It was built to perform through raw clock speed, when it didn't pan out as they expected, they went back to their previous architectures that didn't work this way.
>>57334407
Intel had to completely scrap netburst and start over from Pentium 3.
Pentium M was a low TDP P3 clone, and it hurts because it's basically unusable in 2016 thanks to a lack of NX bit, SSE2 and PAE.
Every processor thereafter has been based on P3.
>>57334770
only the Pentium M and the Core Duo were based on the P3 Tualatin core, Core 2 was a whole new microarchitecture

Hey guys,
How much memory (graphic card) does one actually need for things like design, rendering, video editing & some decent gaming? 2GB seems about right to me; anything more seems like battery life/effectiveness would be sacrificed for no real advantage over 2gb, or might aswell just build a gaming desktop, instead of a laptop.
Anyone care to comment on these things? I'm currently looking to upgrade my laptop, and the 15 rMBP seems fine for all of these tasks (the previous version) also the Surface book and the XPS seem like good candidates. Would anyone want to elaborate/warn me on why I should definitely NOT pick one or the other?
Razer and Alienware, along with the Omen seem to have nice specs, too, but like I said, idk if they're actually worth the cost/effiicency.
Looking for 13"-15" btw, not want the most mobile thing and I'm used to 15" but either seems great.
Budget is about 2k tops, if it's a bit North than that it is fine, paying for what you get is not a problem, unless it is outrageously overpriced, in case you wanted to know.
Btw, I've always owned Windows, but I'm very familiar with Mac since every school and professional studio or whatever seem to use it so I don't mind that either
>>57334287
>ram
>sacrificing battery life
is this a new meme?
>>57334299
ok I was thinking everything at once. I meant to say that the ones with bigger graphic cards then to sacrifice battery life for more performance overall because of their usual specs e.g. gaming laptops. and I wanted to know if getting one of those ultra high-end was worth it or not.
Believe that's better worded
>>57334287
>things like design, rendering, video editing & some decent gaming
sounds like you want a desktop
if you really want a laptop, i've heard mostly good things about the xps (if i needed a laptop right now that's what i'd be getting, but i wouldn't be video editing on it)
you could check out the rMBP, probably the now-slightly-outdated one for possibly cheaper than it was

can /g/ recommend me a simple yet effective on the go audio recorder? I'll be using it for nature and just random conversations
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonymobile.androidapp.audiorecorder
if quality is not a concern you can pick up the cheapest Sony on Amazon, it is good enough for most application, light and easy to use, with 20/30€ you should be ok
If you're looking for something better look at the zoom h1, I don't know its price ATM but it is under 100 for sure, I heard it is not well made so be careful but quality is excellent even for music if you know how to use a mic.
Bigger recorders like the zoom h4n or similar tascam are meant for the prosumer market, they have good onboard ambient mics that can do pretty much anything, a lot of functions and most important jack/xlr combo input with phantom to connect every other mic on earth and record from there in multitrack. The zoom h4n is 160€ ATM and I've been using it for years, it's known as the swiss knife of audio, I don't know if you want to spend that much and if you need it
Avoid your phone like >>57335121 said, good mics on android phones are pretty rare and in the best case not that good, iphones usually have decent mics but worse than the 30€ recorder i suggested first and taking files from them is a pain in the ass
>>57335203
If he just wants to use it on the go for recording random conversations, an android app should be fine.
Nature sounds might require an actual recorder if quality is a priority
But if quality is not a concern then OP should definitely just use his phone, there's no reason to waste $20 on a cheap audio recorder when your phone would be just as good
It doesn't sound like OP is looking for a bigger recorder desu, can I ask what kinda stuff you record? Are you a musician?
