Why do people hate Dell?
Someone gave me a Dell inspiron 3000 for my birthday and I was wondering if I should sell it? I know jackshit about computers but people around me keep shitting on Dell for some reason. I was wondering why!

Dell ist shit

Dell has the habit of loading up their computers with shit before selling them.
>>57341023
Dell Insprion is the consumer line you'd buy at Wal Mart.
I have an ancient computer I'm turning into a Linux box for my 60 yo mother who doesn't know shit about Linux and doesn't care to really learn. She just needs a computer she can turn on and watch cat videos with.
Suggestions for distro?

Hello.
If I wanted to access services/web-based systems located on my work's network connection from home, how would I do it?
The work network connections internet access is mostly unrestricted. I have no administrator access on the work computer though, and non white-listed executables are blocked, but Chrome/Firefox have no restrictions on them in terms of addons/extension. The computer is running Windows 7.
Is this even possible? Is there possibly some form of Chrome extension that can ask as a VPN server or something?

What mitx case should I buy? I like the 380t but they're apparently worth about tree fiddy these days, which is obviously not worth it.
ncase or dancase. define one if you don't mind the size, better functionality/options.
>>57340839
You mean the define nano?
I bought a CiT Barricade, it was £16.
Not anything fancy but I don't look at it and everything fits inside nicely, back panel also has plenty of space for wiring which is nice.
why don't people want tablets anymore?
>>57340776
because they are just slightly bigger phones
>>57340776
Because when you own a decent resolution acceptably fast tablet there's no reason to ever buy another one.
Like if you bought an iPad Retina four years ago, what has ever come out that's bring something to the table that you say, "Man, I wish MY tablet could do that"?
>>57340776
because phones are getting to be 7"

Thinking of buying this shit. It supposedly supports FreeSync but doesn't have a display port. How the fuck does that work? Is this some freesync over HDMI thing?
>>57340772
It doesn't.
>>57340828
You sure? These guys think it does

There's like a dozen monitors visible through that page, and the cheaper ones do NOT have FreeSync or anything.
If you pick one of the more expensive ones via "Styles" the specs will update to show a DisplayPort input.
What are some Metro-style slick-looking IRC clients?

Seriously, all of you fucking morons who are using Pale Moon, think for one moment about it.
Go on and ask yourself the question how that Moonchild guy actually believes he can manage to maintain a browser if he fails with tasks like that here for example. This is standard difficulty if you are actually a browser developer.
https://github.com/MoonchildProductions/Pale-Moon/issues/176
https://github.com/MoonchildProductions/Pale-Moon/issues/117
Always the same. He does not understand enough and throws that to his community which is understanding it even less.
What for a joke!
And you are still using this browser? Go fuck you, Firefox with Australis is the only one! Ricing sucks anyway.
>calling other people losers
>shitposting on /g/
>calling people "losers"
You're not in highschool anymore
>>57340512
It is a difference if someone is right or not.
In the Pale Moon case, i see no reason why not to criticize iz's maker.
That guy talks much but really has problems in making things happen.
How about the thing with Javascript promises? Only solution for him was updating to a newer Gecko engine version.
That guy maintains his own browser but has not the necessary knowledge.
That is a fact. But perhaps different words would have been a better choice instead of being rude.
Do you use startpage? How do you justify this kikery?
>>57340463
I use to, until I found searx.me
What's the kikery? They're just advertising they're own product as a safer alternative to others.
>>57341487
>>57340463
I have been using it for a couple years now, whats the problem?
A group advertising their own product is not something unheard of.
I need to prep for a technical interview. I was a terrible CompSci student (5 years ago), but consider myself an above average web developer (autodidact, working through tutorials and stuff).
What are some of the broader CompSci concepts I should refresh my memory on? It's for a backend developer position at a high profile internet company.
TL;DR web developer needs to pass an interview. bad at compsci, good at gluing together solutions.
>>57340426
>but consider myself an above average web developer
So great that you have no idea about even the basic concepts right? You're shit. Interviews exists just so people like you don't get the job.

>>57342332
>>57340426
Yeah. Pen testers have long fucking talks to give pertaining to the threats to an organization. Thats wrong. Hackers do need to talk

Ca u make a computer run 7 different operating systems?
HxD gives me a nice pretty graph telling me how frequently each byte appears in a given file.
Are there any tools which let me graph the frequency of 2 or 4 byte words in file?
Seriously can legally buying movies be any MORE pain in the ass?
I just wanted to see eat pray love without getting a lawyer letter and bought it on iTunes like the good goyim I am
It worked well enough but I like taking movie stills and use them as wallpaper but whenever I try to take a screenshot it's all black. I googled and it seems this is intentional
