With a soft budget of $100 and a hard budget of $150 what is a good desktop amplifier to power headphones and Polk T15s?
Are surround sound 7.1 audio headphones a meme?
>>57327654
Yes. A bad one at that.
How many people hereon /g/ collect old tech?. Computers, Consoles, Stereo equipment, Studio gear etc.
>>57323484
I find technology older than 5 years old embarrassing. My desktop is just over 5 years old, and it's somewhat embarrassing, but not really because it's an i7 with 32nm technology by Intel.
>>57323484
I have a small amount of PPC macs stashed away in the corner

Same here, upgraded to Skylake and GeForce 1080 recently.
Anyways, retro tech is cool, I love my shitboxes.

Are razer laptops a meme?
I have a blade stealth. It's pretty good for $1000. The battery is nice and the screen is amazing. Honestly the only thing I would change is I would have liked to see more than just one USB-C port
>>57347865
So, you have the 128GB model? With the Intel Integrated graphics?
So, out of curiosity, what exactly do you see in this laptop, over something with comparable specs, say the XPS 13?
>>57347953
I use the Core with it. It makes a decent dorm setup because I couldn't fit a full size desktop.

Recommend me some mature apps for hardcore computer users like myself
>>57347210
I would recommend Tux Racer, few people have beaten the campaign on expert.
Another suggestion would be Neverball/Neveputt. Only diehard fans will beat the Nevermania levels, I've personally only beaten Tour De'force, I've still got to work on Retour

1440p 144hz now, or later?
Feel like I'll just need to upgrade from a 1080 in a year if something rad comes out.
>>57346920
144hz is a meme because most games these days that are good and aren't FPS games have their physics tied to the framerate, and modern ports have stuttering issues once they go above 75hz if it's again not an FPS or an old MMO.
Go for 1440p, since you most likely aren't playing CS:GO competitively.

has anyone in Japan ever seen a pair of breasts?
>>57346920
1440p since it's worth something outside of gaming, the most useless activity known to man
People keep posting pictures like this, I'm just wondering which DE this is? Everyone keeps making jokes when I ask, I don't know what I'm doing wrong here. Is it a KDE theme? I think it looks pretty cool, that's the only reason I want to know.

PSA: Double Commander is almost as good as Total Command but is open source and cross-platform. If you were looking for a Linux replacement for Total Commander, this is it.
http://doublecmd.sf.net/
>>57346462
>sourceforge
Anyway, what's the limitation?
>>57346558
SourceForge sucks less than it used to now that it's under new management.
>Anyway, what's the limitation?
It's still version 0.x and sometimes has stability issues. I think its default config is actually better than TC's. Support for Total Commander plugins (on Windows) is incomplete.
>>57346594
Neat.
>about sourceforge being better
I hope so, however my point was that most projects I encountered in this very age at SF was at least semi-malware, semi-abandoned or a PITA otherwise...
Perhaps not the overnight success some believed, it’s fair to say VR platforms have been struggling. Growth of VR is at a virtual standstill according to metrics reported by Steam's Hardware Survey for October. Steam shows that in October, HTC's Vive went from 0.19% percent usage share to 0.20% percent, a minuscule rise of 0.01 percentage points. Similarly, the Oculus Rift went from 0.09% to 0.10%. In total, VR gained 0.02% for the whole month.
>B-b-but it's the future!
you say this like its a good thing, like you're personally going to benefit from VR tailing off and never reaching its full potential
>>57346442
More just amused at all the people who were saying how VR would be taking over the world less than a year ago and yet here we are.
