See, based on my pay bracket, this is the sort of purchase I would make in 30 years or on some major occasion. By that time who knows, something else may have caught my fsncy even moreso. Personally though I am a sucker for the color blue and that does it so well. That is one of the few swiss watches i could ever see myself buying.
>>57275370
sure if you like it, the price isn't that special though so don't get excited and rush to buy.
>>57271391
There are a few Grand Seiko quartz models.
>>57271501
Plenty of small watches around if you do want one.
>>57276010
>i have not heard of tisell
Of course, since it's a korean microbrand assembling chinese parts into 'homages' of popular designs.
The Orient Flight should be decent like most Orient watches. The coating on the black models probably isn't that great though, and may flake off after a while, depending on use. Making a good black steel case is actually quite expensive...
I'll just leave this here http://www.yukiwatch.com/catalog/item/6924997/10291269.htm

Just buy a rep to scratch the itch. Nobody you will meet in real life will know the brand so nobody would know it's a rep.
>>57277482
>Nobody you will meet in real life will know the brand
that's why there aren't any fakes of it
literally the only reason you would buy a fake is to show off to other people
Apparently these will be back in stock soon, along with the new 7XX Komandirskies.

The prototype dials already came up on the market, so they'll be out this winter in late November.
But despite Dimitries promises (and good designs, as pictured) they're always late, so January might work.

Yeah I especially like the button pusher that attaches to the clasp. Really neat watch and for the price it was hard to pass up.

Meh. The appeal of Vostoks to me is the cool Soviet style dials with tanks, bombers, submarines etc on them.

So I got my Mako XL yesterday and its a really nice looking watch. It looks better in person than pictures online.
I like the watch a lot, but I feel it just sits a bit too high on my aushwitz wrists. The length and the width are okay on my 16.2 cm wrist, but its so fucking THICC.
anyways, not sure if I'll keep it 2bh.
I'm thinking on picking up that cheap casio diver they have for 40 bucks or drop a little more for a vostok amphibian/komandirskie. any experience with either of these divers /g/?

Best Citizen eco-drive watches under 40mm?
>>57283941
Citizen caliber 8700.
It's one of the best affordable analog perpetual calendars available.
However, to find it under 40mm you'll have to search in the vintage market, since the last references ever made are about 42mm.

>>57282876
You could get a decent watch for that.
>>57283941
>>57284450
It's the mother of all franken watches, so obvious the seller had to disclose it openly. Also, the rotor is faaaaar from original. Even if (IF) some parts of the movement and/or case are original (like the balance, apparently), PP won't sell you a screw to restore it as it should have been, and neither any AD or watchmakers.
IMHO that watch is nothing but money down the toilet. For that price I would prefer to buy a Speedy reduced.

another question for /wt/, should i buy an oysterquartz just to not be the only one in my friends groups that doesnt have a high end swiss meme watch? and should it be with or without papers?
>>57284912

>>57285075

>>57284999

>>57285167
What price are we talking about and wich other options have you considered?
>>57284531
>You could get a decent watch for that.
i know that's my point, why would anyone want a fake rolex that costs over a thousand dollars
>>57285238
4250 europoors max.
things id like at that pricepoint would be a gerald genta or uni geneve calendar or a GP equation quartzer. a bit on the cheaper side would be a simple piaget.
>>57285222
i dont need to validate myself by with the watch. my friends are perfectly fine with me wearing a different slavshit watch every day of the week. but idk, they all have a relatively expensive watch they wear every day and i feel like maybe i should have one too.
>>57285426
4500 € can get you a Rolex Explorer II with white dial in the preowned market. I love Gerald Genta and is a cool option but Rolex is more swiss meme and recognizable. If you choose GG look for an Arena Retro with bracelet, if possible.
>>57285549
>4500 € can get you a Rolex Explorer II with white dial
Or he can get a good looking Rolex.
>>57285611
The Explorer II doesn't look bad at all (especialy in white), and it's the more affordable modern Rolex in the preowned game.
>>57285549
i dont really like the explorer 2 desu.
also the 40mm with the endlinks is probably too big anyway.
the GG i like pic related (pls excuse the italian man who cant resist to touch literally all the watches he sells.)
Hello everyone, noob here who only has an F91-w
I've been looking around online, and finally found a quartz I like that is both affordable, and doesn't have a seconds hand(I hate the way it doesn't line up on most quartz movements).
Should I get this in the black dial, or the white as pic related? Am going to be wearing this with a leather band if it helps you visualize it.
>>57285731

>>57284548
hey anon, I just asked this >>57285766
does the seconds hand line up properly with the markers on the bm8180?
>>57285766

I'm liking how it looks in white however. I think it would go quite well on a blue perlon.
>>57285856

THE PROBLEM IS FINDING THE RIGHT CASE TO FIT THE DIAL. REPRODUCTION CASES DO THE JOB FINE.
ETA OR ETA CLONE MOVEMENTS ARE INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM ROLEX MOVEMENTS.
I recently got a vintage mechanical poljot, and I think I over winded it, it works perfectly fine but I can't wind it any further. Is this a feature so I don't break it or is it too late?

Before 2000, Rolex also used hand-wound Valjoux Caliber 72 chronograph movements, and modified Zenith El Primero movements, for its Cosmograph Daytona watches. In 2000, Rolex introduced the successor to its Caliber 4030 movement (based on the El Primero), Rolex Caliber 4130.

Hi the watch is a great little timepiece, it's very accurate and the power reserve is 6 months when fully charged.
They are scratches that were caused by me putting it in a drawer unprotected and forgetting about it first about 5 years. As soon as it hit the light it started working though.
>>57286005
My Paratrooper Komandirskie had that bezel, I swapped it for a dots and dashes one. It looks better imho.
Looking for a cheap, simple watch to buy, never had one. Can you recommend something cheap that just does the job of telling time and doesn't look like shit? I mean like $100 max cheap. If that's possible.
I couldn't find a watch article on the wiki.

Timex expedition camper or casio forester?
>>57291449
Seiko 5, Timex Weekender or Citizen Eco-Drive.
>>57291459
>>57291510
I took a look at these, they have a few models I like. Are these generally solid brands or do the specific series (not sure how to call it, a line? e.g. the Weekender) differ in quality?
You mentioned getting a new strap, I noticed they all have some weird fabric or rubber straps. I take that's why I should get either a metal or leather strap?
I really like this one. It's a shame it doesn't have a date indicator.
>>57291608
Some come on metal bracelets as well, but for the price they are just hair pulling contraptions.
SNKL23 is an example from the Seiko 5 line, great overall but needs a leather or perlon strap.
>>57283058
The MDV106 is pretty damn big. If you care at all about mechanical movement, an Amphibia is a good step up from that. They also have that weird russian styling while the MDV is more of a classic diver.
Also, the engineering behind the Amphibia is pretty neat. It's the reason I got mine. The flat gasket, clutch in the crown, and increased WR with pressure on the crystal are ingenious ways of dealing simply with the problems of a diving watch.

>>57293324
Is the 5 water resistant and how much so?

The Seiko 5 Sports line has watches that are water resistant, and you can shower with them and submerge them in water.

I saw one of these Omega chronographs up for sale on a local site a while ago, though it was pretty trashed. Dial was beyond saving and the coil was damaged badly, likely from water damage.
Oddly enough somebody bought it for quite a fee.

Lume is better than my Amphibia but that's not saying much.
Put it on a sharkmesh and it's really nice
Overall probably the best watch you can buy for $40 cuckbucks. I'm a Casiofag for lyfe now.
>tfw you have your favorite watch on and you look down to check the time but your watch looks so good you get captivated by its beauty and forgot what the time was by the time you look back up
Was going through my grandma's stuff, found a few decent ones. A Gruen 25-jewel autowind, a digital Timex, and a Casio F-7 that needs a new battery because the cr2016 is a bit smaller than the br2320 it came with. I guess it's finally time to order some 18mm natos.
>>57301799
How does it compare to your Amphibia quality wise?
>>57301705
>>57302716
Was your grandma a rugged outdoorsy chick or what?
>>57302739
Nope. She mostly wore awful fashion watches. These might have been grandpa's.
>>57294664
Tried the tangente 35mm and the metro 38mm.
The lugs on Nomos watches are no joke. They reach the very edges of my wrist and I usually wear 42mm watches.
The metro has better lugs, but those extra 3mm make it seem so much bigger because of the design. It's alot of white on your wrist.
Going to have to try them on again before making a decision.
>>57302722
The Casio is full stainless steel and is heavy and sturdy as fuck.
Put it in the tub and it stayed airtight just fine.
The crown is a little small, but it screws and catches the threads very nicely.
The lume is better than the ampbibias, but thats not saying much. At full charge it'll stay bright for around 30 minutes, so I guess thats fine for diving.
I honestly think this is the best watch under $100, and certainly the best quartz diver.
The resin strap that it comes with is decent, not very flexible but still comfy and water proof. It has standard 22mm lugs though, and it's indented to help fit a one piece strap better. Also standard springbars, so replacing the bracelet isn't an issue like it is on Seiko divers.
>>57304128
Oh and the movement is dead silent. The only way to hear it is to press your ears against the case back and you'll hear a very faint ticking.
You can't hear it even when it's the middle of the night and all is quiet.
Meanwhile you can hear my chink wellington in a box across the room, I usually keep the crown pulled out.
Mine has the seconds hitting all the indices, Casio is really good with this but YMMV.
>>57299164
>>57299542
Yes it is.
Didn't really try to capture the faceted crystal in the picture.
Also, the Amphibia's bezel and strap is really out of place. The rest of the lower row should go to the nearest trash bin or sold on eBay to fund a proper watch.
Here's some pics
Sorry about my dogshit phone cam
Here's the rest of my watches, excluding the Duro.
Planning to add a black turtle, blue ray II and then saving for a few higher end pieces like a speedy. Maybe a MM300 if servicing won't be a serious issue.

Post your poorfag collections. Here's mine.
Dumb question time.
How do I set a Seiko 5 back an hour?
Back pressure on the crown stops the second hand, turning backwards moves the second hand backwards with some resistance.
Feels so wrong, but the instructions have no warnings against turning backwards.
Then again the instructions only say how to set it from scratch, set the date the day before, then turn forwards to midnight, then set [by going forwards].
Do you really have to go through all 30 days and 6 days of the week just to set it back 1 hour?
>>57306720
Why do you even own a mechanical?
>>57306822

I too heard that turning the crown backwards was not recommended, but then some other ppl day it's fine and it's also the poor man's hacking.
This is a debated issue.
>>57307428

I have it on a leather band though so I wouldn't know. Why can't you just take it off for 5 minutes?
My chronograph from 2010 has been losing time like crazy lately. Is it time to replace the quartz? I have no idea how to fix it.

>>57308552
>Why would you buy a chris ward instead of an Oris?
It was about 50% off as they have discontinued the blue Tridents. Also I don't like the fact that the Oris has nonstandard lugs, at least I can put the CW on a nato which I have before.
>>57308640
I think I remember that sale, for 50% off it's serviceable; definitely better than stienshit or my poorfag casio.
As for the Aquis, the top tier bracelet you get and the rubber strap really make any other option look like shit.
There's not a single watch in the sub 1000 range that offers a better bracelet imo.
>>57308592
Even cheaper in the US. Just picked one up, thanks anon.
Opinions on this. I just landed a new job in IT and my watches don't really fit the occasion. I've got an esteem which seems out of place with business casual and two Russian watches which don't seem too appropriate for the workplace, i don't want any dirty looks on my first day at least. Aesthetically this watch is near perfect in my eyes but will I be getting my money's worth in quality?
>>57305868
I've considered this watch. But the price is just too much for that movement.
>>57308923
Genuinely curious: do you have an actual need for a stopwatch?
If not you would be better served by a watch having day and date. From my time in the IT industry there ware many times where crunch time reached the stage where you no longer knew if today was Sunday or Wednesday.
>>57308923

>>57306540
How often do you sync the time on those watches?
I have a Timex Weekender that I do not use and have stored with the crown pulled out to stop the TICK. Will this cause any issues with battery leakage? Would I be better off keeping it running in storage?
>>57308923
I work in IT and in the past year only two people in two different jobs mentioned I even wore a different watch each day. People don't give a shit.
>>57308836
No probs, happy to help.
>>57309115
Twice a year they will be perfectly synchronised, when I adjust for British summertime and back again.
Apart from the G-Shock as that syncs itself.
What are some good simple/minimalistic watches with a leather strap, sort of in the style of Orient model UG1R003W? I guess this style would be called simple/classic? Is Orient a good buy? Not looking to spend a whole lot, but I feel like I need to get something. In Europe, so no US retailers.

>>57313179
Noob here, what is the difference between good quartz movement and a cheap quartz movement?
>>57314141
Accuracy, longevity, the likeliness to encounter problems, decoration and craftsmanship. Depends what price bracket.
>>57314141
There are good cheap quartz movements and shit cheap quartz movement.
Shit will be any chink 6,75x8 ligne movement that's in a $10 Ebay-special. Plastic everything, can't be taken apart, can't be serviced, once something happens with it it's fucked forever.
A good cheap quartz movement would be a Miyota 2035, no jewels, also 6,75x8 ligne in size, but it's good quality, sane design, and most importantly serviceable. It's around $5.
>>57314817
nobody would service that. if somethings wonky it would just get replaced.
>>57311729
nice, can't decide between this one and the regular terrorist watch
>>57314817
Why would anyone waste time servicing a movement that's not only highly available but only $5?
Can't decide between the skx007, skx009 and Orient Mako, anybody can give some insight?
>>57315766
skx007 or skx013. True to the spirit of a half century of seiko divers and overall just nice looking with good quality.
>>57315766
Mako/Ray II are both rated for -15/+25, which is better than the +/-25 a day that the 7s26 is rated for. So there's something already I guess.
Personally, I prefer the look of the Mako to the skx series, comparing these 3 watches, they really aren't all that different in quality, they're all at a price point where you're not meant to expect perfect finishing or a plethora of features and design considerations. So ultimately, it's just down to what you prefer the look of.
They're all rated for 200m. Granted the skx007/09 are both ISO6425 rated. For what it's worth, which is. Fuck all unless you're actually diving, or are severely autistic.
Is this the best Vostok ever created?

70 max desu. I feel if I go over I might just find an orient diver for less than a hundred or might as well splash on a new mako II, but for daily use a 180 dollar watch is just too much.
I paid 40 + tax for the casio, I doubt that can be beat.
>>57317700
What up casio bro
It's like 50mm lug to lug so even on my wrist it's pushing it.
How are you liking yours?
>>57318316
It'll look smaller on a nato. This really is the best cheapo diver though.
>>57318117
Shitty pic, but a 420 case shouldn't look that small on your wrist.
>>57318501
how big are your wrists? I feel it my lack of forarms makes this watch look even bigger on my wrists.
I like the watch a lot. I'm waiting on a stainless steel band I ordered for it. Looks good with a mesh one. Was thinking on buying one of those myself. How did you remove the original bands btw?
>>57318501
Thats not a stump I promise....
>>57318548
Somewhere around 17cm. I dont really remember sorry.
The resin strap has little indents on the inside where you can fit a small flathead or spring bar tool. Depress the little ridge in the bar inward and the strap should pop off.
It's a 22mm lug width, and the mesh I have is just a cheapo from ali.
>>57317700
wristlet
>>57318529
Yea it really is. Vostoks are a bit more expensive. The casio can't be beat for 40 so far. Only thing that sucks is the shit lume.
>>57318584
ah, fellow /csg/'er? lel I just ordered a 9 dollar one from amazon since it would get here faster than ordering from ali. If I decide to keep the watch, I'll order extras from there.
How is the band btw? Is it holding okay? How long have you had it for?
>>57318639
Just 3 days actually.
The band is the same as all other casios. So comfy and pretty durable. If you're talking about the mesh I've had it for a year on various watches. Really nice.
If you're gonna buy a mesh of ali just make sure it's 316L and you should be good.
The lume isn't really that shit if you're just charging it for a dive.
