Literally whom?
Am brand new to linux, basically, but I'm very interested in learning and eventually (within the next 4-6 months) taking the CompTIA Linux+ exam. What would be the best distro for me to start off with to practice with, and learn what I need to learn?
>>57347498
>CompTIA Linux+ exam
Fedora and Fedora based distros AND nothing else, speceally not arch or debian
>>57347773
Thank you much. I was reading everywhere to use either CentOS, or Debian as that's what the majority of questions would revolve around.
>>57347813
Don't use Debian
What do you think are the best addons for firefox and other gecko browsers?

GNU!
>>57346798
They're only doing this for politics. Putin is very distrustful of the west and has been wanting to do this for a while.
It'll never happen.
>>57346798
>doesn't say anything about GNU/Linux
Realistically they will probably use Macs instead.
Why the fuck are OEMs and everyone else so enamoured and obsessed with pushing this button-less trackpad shit on everything and crusading against buttons and pretty much any "non-essential" functionality in general? Since I can't use these mushy piece of shit "button areas" on my trackpad I end up tap-clicking for everything, but it fucks that up too by regularly misinterpreting it as a tap-drag and getting stuck in that mode until I click the shitty non-existent buttons again or in some cases restart the system entirely.
This shit makes me mad as fuck, I hope I'm just retarded.
>>57346675
This is one of the few things I don't like about my t440s
I'll never understand it either. It's like they like be bottlenecked.
One finger click = left click
Two finger click = right click
C'mon OP, it's not hard.
What home network equipment do you have and what line are you connected to?
Have you flashed your home router with OpenWRT or DDWRT or something else?
How many devices are connected to your home network?
Any equipment you wholeheartedly recommend? Any tips/advice/suggestions for novices?
TrendNET TEW811DRU running DD-WRT on Comcast 80/5
At the moment 6 of 10
The ASUS RT-AC86U is pretty good...
>>57346665
>What home network equipment do you have and what line are you connected to?
Asus RT-88U 60/10

Merlin
>How many devices are connected to your home network?
>Any equipment you wholeheartedly recommend? Any tips/advice/suggestions for novices?
Asus is rock solid. LACP support is nice.
I'm switching to a full ubiquiti unifi stack within the next few months.
>>57346665
>What home network equipment do you have and what line are you connected to?
48 Mb/s AT&T U-verse.
2wire 3600HGV in bridge mode.
pfSense VM on home server with gigabit Wi-Fi card.
>Have you flashed your home router with OpenWRT or DDWRT or something else?
See above. I used to have a WRT54G with DDWRT.
>How many devices are connected to your home network?
Wi-Fi: 4 smartphones, Android tablet, 2 Chromecasts
LAN: HP Color LaserJet Printer
>Any equipment you wholeheartedly recommend? Any tips/advice/suggestions for novices?
pfSense is GOAT. Realtime adblocking and virus scanning before it reaches the network. You can run it on an unused laptop or desktop, or in a VM if you have a home server.
If your ISP provides you with a modem/router combo don't use the router part of it. They're backdoored and can possibly give anyone access to your LAN. You should get your own router and put it between the ISP-provided device and your home network.
How does this make you feel, /g/?

Is there a way to share a WiFi signal over about 120m?
>>57346256
make a pair of cantennae
>>57346256
You could use ethernet but would probably need to re up the signal before the 100m mark. Coaxial may work better for this. :)
>>57346303
was looking into WokFi, actually. is it actually that good?
>>57346310
can't use ethernet. my roommate and i are trying to share our internet with her grandma who lives in the apartment just next door

I can stream gta v from my pc to my phone while laying in bed
I love modern technology
>>57346177
yes it does
i did not know the snes was capable of this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCAnj_7hJAg
SNES games could use their own sound bank with real instrument sounds and then use the SPU to modify these instrument sounds to get more range out of them.
It's why SNES sounds amazing compared to the Genesis, which just sound like a bunch of farts.
