so we can agree apple is shit. now whos the top OEM?
Top OEMs are AMD, Intel, nVidia, Kingston, Western digital, gigabyte, Asus, MSI, etc etc. MANUFACTURERS. Not designers who take other people's work, dress it up and sell it as their own creation for 10 times it costs.
>>58066932
Products are made by workers, not companies. Companies take the workers' work and sell it as their creation for 10 times it costs.
what the fuck happened to dell? at one time they were bretty good
Sup /g/, let's talk password managers.
I've been wanting to make a transition to one, and I'm curious as to what you use and why. I'm between using Keepass and Pass. (For those who aren't familiar with it, https://www.passwordstore.org/ is the link. It touts itself as a password manager that obeys unix philosophy, although it's not quite that if you look into it.)
I'm personally torn between the two, since keepass seems to be easier to use cross platform, but I do like the idea of Pass.
So, what password manager do you use? Why? Do you like it?
>>58066218
For any normie; LastPass.
For any NEET who is scared of the someone-else-manages-and-generates-your-passwords-where-you-have-little-control botnet: KeePass (or any other offline password manager).
I just use firefox with master password

>The lawsuit was first filed in 2011 by four Apple employees in San Diego. They alleged that the company failed to give them meal and rest breaks, and didn't pay them in a timely manner, among other complaints.

where's the little fucking faggot who posts those daily windows POSReady threads? i want to wring his fucking neck for wasting my weekend. the shit DOES NOT WORK. the format function isn't defined so when you plug a USB stick in the entire operation fails. it's PATHETIC.
the CD ISO doesn't boot properly on anything but a barebones VMWare setup with no hard drive defined (0x0000007B, inaccessible boot device), i tested on real and virtual hardware.
the DVD image isn't bootable despite shipping as an ISO and there's no uEFI support.
the setup program that comes on the DVD takes forever to copy some files and ends up producing USB drives with invalid partition tables that won't boot properly.
literally every step of the installation process has been ham-fisted or broken in some way or another. it's astonishing how bad this entire setup is. people actually paid money for this horse shit.
if i wanted a pointlessly-hostile, unsupported, dysfunctional OS with no documentation or function i'd use linux. what the fuck were microsoft thinking trying to sell this shit?
if you see the POSReady shill, report him. it's garbage software.

Because it was a thread disguised for WES7:
-Based off Windows 7
-Support ends in 2021 instead of 2020
-You can select components you want to install. Including removing IE.
-Embedded Features such as no GUI boot, RAMDisk driver, ability to be installed and booted from external HDD and write filters.
-Volume_BA channel, insert key and you are done. No activation.
-Enterprise features such as Applocker available in Windows 7 Enterprise/Ultimate
-Keyboard Filter* through group policy that allows you to disable keyboard keys/key combinations.
-Updates are on separate channel, does not install dedicated telemetry updates.**
**Do contain Quality Rollups though. Advice to either disable Update and use write filters:EWF(HORM)/FBWF or manually download the security only updates from windows catalog.
*Requires WEDU1.2 to download the update, and use DISM to add the package.

Google "XGY72" for PID.
Why don't they actually teach computers in school... instead of useless MS office skills that everyone forgets and just looks up on google?
Because getting a CS degree and an Education degree is rare.
That leaves us with the Math teachers because Computers means logic means math, right?
>>58065234
i take it you went to a state school.
there simply isn't demand for it, until it becomes a state or national requirement you will not see it outside of specialized classes where a school has taken there own initiative towards technology, and from what I've seen that normally ends poorly(e.g. I learnt web design, friends at another school learnt C99. neither of us gained any true understanding as these were task focused and not academic).
>>58065332
I wish algebra was taught earlier in this country, QLD has a really fucking poor standard for math. I remember in year 10 they FINALLY introduced basic algebra at my school and it was hilarious because half the class had been taught it in primary school to a limited degree but not in a way that it could actually be applied.

Where were you when intel was BTFO?
>A few months ago, [Trammell Hudson] discovered erasing the first page of the ME region did not shut down his Thinkpad after 30 minutes. This led [Nicola Corna] and [Frederico Amedeo Izzo] to write a script that uses this exploit. Effectively, ME still thinks it’s running, but it doesn’t actually do anything.
https://web.archive.org/web/20161129150603/http://hackaday.com/2016/11/28/neutralizing-intels-management-engine/
Why is nobody talking about this on /g/? Guess discussing traps and /fa/ watches and chinese shit and (((phones))) is totally more technology-related than that in 2016. Who cares about technology on a technology image board.

So it's a way to overwrite ME firmware on ThinkPads without anything bad happening?

this pretty much sums it all up.
Still better than Windows or mac.
BSD is complete garbage.
Name a bigger design blunder than Apple moving from Magsafe to USB-C. Good luck, you can't.
>>58063523
it charges the computers faster and if you are so butthurt about magsafe, then just buy an adapter for it.
>>58063572

>Apple removing widely used ports.
>Apple and strict firmware signing that is used for planned obsolescence (haha, fuck you, no downgrades).
>Apple and more planned obsolescence through poor software optimization on old hardware.
>Apple being totally closed source with iOS.
>Apple not making dev edition iPhones or IPSWs that can easily be rooted.
>Apple moving from glass and steel to flimsy aluminum shit.
>Apple getting rid of the 3D UI in favor a gay pride parade.
>Apple not putting USB C in mobile devices.
>Apple not having SD card slots or at least making a battery case that supports them.
>Apple using nothing but outdated hardware.
>Apple defending terrorists.
>Apple removing battery time remaining indicator in response to their own false advertising.
>Apple making thin and light fashion accessories instead of computers that "just work".
>Apple intentionally making life shit for 3rd party repair centers, even suing them for exploring beyond the walled garden.
>Apple not licensing Mac OS to other hardware makers at a steep price, therefore making Macshits more appealing.
>Apple pandering to gays and niggers on their website and at events instead of just showing the stupid product (which is what everyone came for anyways).
>Apple being patent trolls.
>Apple using Chinese slave labor and treating people so bad that the factories need suicide nets.
>Apple being so jewish that even their own cult members are pissed off about lugging around a suitcase of dongles.
These are all of the reasons why I hate Apple. They are literally the world's worst tech company. Inbefore, Applefags defend this.
So /g/ what version of windows made you quit windows?
For me it was like this Vista moved me to Linux (Mandriva) however I quit and got back to XP.
Then 8 came out and I moved to Mint, pretty comfortable especially that a lot of things are over the web now and it works 100% of the time.
I'm definitively not thatching windows 10 ever.

as you all know, the only free major Linux distro that includes the word "Linux" in the title* just released 18.1 Serena
I am the first person on /g/ whose rig is currently rocking 18.1, you can follow me boys. It is definitely the best Operating System for the personal computer. A few words that come to mind when rocking this distro:
>elegant
>beautiful
>best
*distros that don't have an "L" in logo (arch linux) don't count
>>58059972
I use 18.0 because I'm a lazy shit
>>58060008
you can upgrade in ~7 minutes
install all updates you have rn then click "edit" in your new update manager "upgrade to 18.1 serena"
a few new wallpapers is all i've noticed, you can also put panel on the side now if you're weird like that
