I transferred 120 gigs of data between a few old USB 2.0 flash drives yesterday.
Shit sucked.
When I need to transfer a few gigs between computers I upload to mega from one and then download from the other. It's faster than USB 2.0

What SSDs use 3D NAND this days?
850 EVO/PRO.
ADATA SU800.
What else?
>>58065694
3d nand is patented by samsung.
>>58065694
IMFT started manufacturing some 3D NAND so Crucial probably has some SSDs out there using it.
You also forgot the 960 EVO and Pro.

Yes and?
Im 22 and I mostly know HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. I have some web development background but I want to lean towards software development. What languages are the best for this route guys. I'm gonna learn Java soon.

What kind of software development?
Phone applications?
Desktop applications?
Embedded systems?
Something that takes a lot of resources or something that relies a lot on user input?
What?

What's /g/'s excuse for not going full-Stallman and having a small netbook as your only computer?
I have only x220.
>>58065642
Because my computer needs to do more than just send emails to other autistic freetards.
No reason to do so.
>Developer releases a really compelling app
>Makes it available free or cheap
>2 years later
>Raises price dramatically or introduces an inappropriate subscription model
Why is this allowed? This is literally a crack dealer tactic.
>This is literally a crack dealer tactic.
Of course, that is why they do it. And that is also one of the reasons RMS is so insistent on software being free and open source. Just because something don't cost money does not mean it is free.
I still don't see the appeal of this fucking thing.
I don't get why people flocked to it.
>>58066002
I used it 'cause I wanted a place to keep things to read for later, and didn't want to use bookmarks because they always got cluttered and made it impossible to find things.
It worked fine for a while...until my Evernote page became just as cluttered as my bookmarks.
So yeah, it's pretty dumb.
How fucked I am?
Is it just a SMART error?

It's like that since from 2 years at least.

Does /g/ know shit about vintage record players, or equipment in general? I have a setup that is missing a record player and want to know your opinion on the matter. Will consider new stuff if it looks the part
It's mostly a meme for hipsters who only got into audio to let them pretend they are better than everyone else. Old equipment is usually called sounding "warm", which is simply a hipster word meaning "shit".
>Consider new stuff if it LOOKS the part
Meme
record argument might have worked in the 80s or 90s but we have digital now. CD is old enough so you can still pretend to be superior and can hold lossless music, at least a few tracks.
due to the internet and audiophile sites, you aren't a unique snowflake since all other audio turds will end up doing the same thing, and you'll just fight them when you get "actual" advice (in line with your stupid idea) so you won't win either way.
It's something I want to mess around with. I don't care if you or anyone else thinks it's a meme
>>58065568
>looks are not an important factor
Okay /g/ pick my next smartphone.
Options: OnePlus3T, LG V20, Iphone 7 Plus, Google Pixel.
Details: I wanted to get the OP3T, however you cannot buy it on contract, you would have to buy the device outright, which is a bit harder for me, since 450$ outright is hard to do when i would normally be doing payments if i bought it on contract.
However, it would be cheaper in the long run since all the phones i have listed are more expensive, it's just the outright investment is hard to do.
Now, that being said what do you think i should do /g/? Should i just go with the OP3T and buy the phone off contact, and then just use my simcard? Or should i get one of the other phones on contract with T-Mobile?
You decide. The most appealing response will be my choice.
>>58065468
Unless you absolutely need the phone within a month get the op3t. You're overpaying for an already overpriced product on contract.
>buy windows phone
>connect to PC with a dock
>write documents in Office
One of the reasons why Windows phone's nice desu

So I downloaded the LinkedIn Data Leak which was recently made public from a - reliable - source, because I was interested in one specific entry. I found the entry and decrypted the hash (SHA1) - the result was 13-15 (I don't remember) digits number. I tried it on some accounts of said person, but it didn't work, so I just thought he has changed it already. However, after some time I randomly tried to revert some other hashes from the database, and they all showed another 15 digits numbers. The entries wasn't sorted, so chance I randomly chose 4 people with the same password format is very low. What is this witchery?
>>58065413
dump hashes
>>58066373
I won't post the one I'm looking for, for obvious reasons. Here are some another hashes that "decrypts" into 15 digits number:
>36b29c8e5b6b8a352068db3f152011b2692ce5d5 SHA1 : 109516969784110
>1613ba0e49710624ab6c374d40c0394bc54ff692 SHA1 : 673397778999345
But now I also found some hash in the same file that decrypts into legit string password. I don't get it. The only explaination would be that somebody decrypted the data, sorted it by password and then encrypted it again, but that doesn't make any sense at all.
>>58066934
checked it myself. In fact, the hashes and the inputs are correct. 673397778999345 for example may be the real password then. You seem to have found a collision.
Maybe it is a collision of some sort and the system check the password also in another hash-format too. For example if the login checks sha1 AND md5 it is way harder to get a collision that works for both.
Okay well I have two colleges I want to attend. One has a software engineering major and the other has a CS major. So whats the difference between them? Which major has better courses and higher job outlook.
Computer Engineering unless you want to be a Pajeet all your life.
>>58065577
I was think about computer engineering but I like to program and create. I heard computer engineering is more hardware and you use mostly C/C#/C++. Any major difference between CE vs CS vs SE?

Has there ever been an example of a very popular FOSS program that had obfuscated code that added a hidden malware feature?
>>58065370
yes many thats why you should only ever use TempleOS the one true operating system.
>>58065370
Why do that when hardly anyone compiles it themselves anyway? Just ship an altered build for the majority of people who just download the binaries.
Most of it? When something is free be very cautious
>download linux mint on the usb

All you need is some basic C skills and copy and paste some encryption code from stackoverflow into your program and make a simple crypto locker requesting money be sent to a btc address.
This shit isn't rocket science guys.
