I want to type in two numbers but why doesn this work? I'm confused
int main (void) {
int x[1];
int n;
for( n=0 ; n<2 ; n++) {
scanf("%d", &x[n]);
}
for( n=0 ; n<2 ; n++) {
printf("%d", x[n]);
}
return(0);
}
>>58248442
Should beint x[2];
>>58248474
but the first number is stored in x[0] and the second in x[1] ?
>>58248493
But if you define x as int x[1] x will only have one space.
why even use a linux distro now? what's the point? microsoft just btfo of distros and made them irrelevant.

Bash in Windows 10 is shit.
I have a bash script running in a Debian VM that works perfectly
>for f in *.txt
Bash for Windows 10 couldn't even parse that first line.
I'm removing it and getting Cygwin.
>>58248352
I installed it and it couldn't copy and paste. It says the keybinds are Ctrl + C Ctrl + V but they don't do anything. The only way I was able to paste was by right-clicking the top bar and going Edit -> Paste. It also didn't show any options to change the keybinds, so it seems pretty horrible.
If there's some other way to do this, it probably requires more investigation and is not very user friendly. Not like the real Ubuntu which makes everything super easy.
>>58248352
I think you don't get that there is more to GNU/Linux than just a shell.
I personally like it because it is built so modular.
I can switch my DE with a couple of commands, same goes for my shell, and everything else. And (for the most part) I can combine everything just to my liking.
Without having to pay for any of it.
If I manage to fuck up, I can reinstall, copy (not all of) /etc and my .config folder and I have got half of my system back already.
And all of this without being forced into updating my system, entering my license key, having updates that break my system every 2 months, etc.
If you like your Windows 10, good for you.
I however like my system just how it is, with my centralized package manager, my shell, and my desktop environment.

Since I'm bored as hell and tired of all the shitposting currently going on, I figured I might as well do something about it and create a thread where I answer something meaningful.
I'm a PhD student currently working on a project together with a company that creates PCIe-based interconnects. The project aims to create a unified framework for dynamically sharing IO devices between multiple compute nodes in a PCIe cluster.
Ask me anything, but keep it /g/ related.
how do PCIe speed decrease w.r.t distance?
how do you manage defeat laziness when you need to study something?
>>58248297
>how do PCIe speed decrease w.r.t distance?
Distance increases latency of course. To give you an idea, roughly 150 nanoseconds per hop/switch.
>how do you manage defeat laziness when you need to study something?
I have a real hard time overcoming laziness actually and although I have some work ethics, it has just become worse the older I get. I'm open with my supervisor about this, so I've told him to get on my back if I start slacking off and I try to have regular 10 minutes meetings where I talk about my progress that day.

Glass is better for the environment than plastic. People change phones all the time, better if those things are as environmentally friendly as possible.

Hey /g/, are there any brands who are still building and updating horizontal PC cases?
All i ever see is vertical shit, but i miss
the old horizontal ones with appropriate ventilation and dust filtering and stands for horizontal action.
>>58248123
Most of them still do. They're sometimes under the HTPC category.
>>58248142
Any recommended brands or cases for me to look up?
In terms of build quality/sturdiness.
>>58248161
Silverstone has a decent selection of desktop cases. Quality is decent. Lian-Li also used to offer desktop cases, but I haven't used any of their products in a while.
Help me choose a Linux distro to replace my current install.
I just want to start using Linux more often, at least on the laptop I use for uni.
I've been using Manjaro GNOME til now, but it feels really bland honestly. Used Ubuntu too, didn't really like it, but that was on 10.10, would be willing to try it again.
What I'd want you to recommend me is a distro that could work on a mid/low-end laptop that'd have good battery life and feels comfy to work with.
Or just tell me what distro you use and why should I try it.
I don't really care about possible difficulties, I'm willing to learn.
So thanks, I suppose.
>>58248092
You can have a good battery life by installing TLP program and an SSD.
I think the DE affects performance more than distro choise, so maybe try something other than Gnome.
>>58248239
Thanks for the response.
I already have installed an SSD on my laptop. I get the answer, and thanks, but my question was more about being in the search of a different distro because I've done so much shit in the actual one, fucked up several times, etc , that I felt it was time for a change.
Maybe I worded it incorrectly. I put the battery life matter there because I remember a friend complaining that when he installed a Linux distro his battery life went to shit. I thought that was mainly a kernel problem, but as I know jack shit about Linux I put it there in case it really is the distro you use, not the kernel what fucks up battery life.
>>58248239
And the second most important for battery life, on multi-gpu laptops at least, is the driver in use and the power state of the other GPU than iGPU. Often the other GPU needs to be turned off even if there aren't drivers for it in use. Just mentioning, if you happen to have an NVidia Optimus or such laptop like I do.
I want to learn web development, android, low-level stuff ,and just general programming. I haven't started learning anything yet because I don't know where to start. Help me /g/.
