>arch-anywhere doesn't have working wifi configuration
>antergos has no working trackpad driver
>manjaro can't partition a drive
the year of linux is not here

So install Arch like everyone else does.
Just install regular arch, it's like 6 additional minutes.

>want to introduce younger brother into PC gaming
>thinking of buying him a pre-built
>don't want him to become lazy and rely on prebuilts all his life, but I know damn well he's not gonna be able to build one himself
>he's just content playing on his iphone all day
>immediately lose the will to buy him anything
Anyone else have this problem? It doesn't help that, in my family, I'm the designated tech support and probably know more about computers than anyone in this house, even though I probably don't know that much in the first place. So it's a tough situation.

End your life. Teach him programming instead you fucking mongrel.
subtly shill to him and let him surpass you and become the tech support
Why are flash drives so cheap even if they offer lots of memory. 64 gb flash drive is a lot cheaper than 64 Gb had. Is it just because of the speed?
>>58254078
>>58254078
>64 gb had
Do you mean hdd? I would assume the production cost of a small plastic device is cheaper than a big spinny disk in a metallic enclosure. Microtransistors are crazy fucking cheap now.
>>58254078
Idk. Got a 256GB USB 3.0 for ~$30 about 4 months ago. I mean, yeah flash drives have gotten cheaper over time from what they used to be, but 4 times that to get 1TB costs more than a 1TB HDD.
Why would anyone buy a 480 or 1060?
>>58254074
>>58254096
(You)
>>58254074
Because as a casual gamer with a full time job and family, I don't need a 1070 to play an enormous backlog of games from the past decade and beyond. The 1060 is perfect for that.
You guys have javascript disabled, right?

>>58254059
Hell no. I'm not that paranoid - only a little
Why is this piece of shit OS draining 20% battery overnight? I've even disabled background data and WiFi when in sleep mode but it didn't help

Thoughts on chromium?
>>58253914
>>58253914
best for now.
>>58253914
iridium or ungoogled-chromium are both good forks but honestly even regular chromium would be better than firefox and faster than most firefox forks

Is anyone here military fags? I am 19 and working a shitty job making a livable wage but im planning on joining the military so that i can get a job i enjoy and not bust my ass everyday, or at least one of those things and I am wondering if anyone knows what good tech jobs the military has and what i would need to do to qualify as well as what they advertise you'll be doing vs what you really do. Mostly I've just seen cyber security jobs which seems decent but i really would like to do some sort of computer/software engineering since that is what i want to go to school for when i am out.
tldr: what tech jobs/experience does the military have to offer?

You have been busy tonight, thanks for the bump
Archive.is no longer can be used to open pages on Facebook that are restricted to logged in users. Is there any other proxy I can use to open any profile without having an account?

LEWD ON A BLUE BOARD?
REPORTED
Just curious if I should go ahead and get my COMPTIA A+ cert or not.
I would really like to start making more then 10 dollars an hour and I already know most of what the test covers except for the newer Linux and Mac stuff.
If not what exactly should I focus on for IT related field work without starting on a degree.
>>58253709
You might as well if you know most the shit, have a shit job, and are looking to increase your pay.

Doesn't compute

Anyone have Zowie FK1? Is it worth?
>>58253702
>>58253702
I do and I'd gladly buy another when this one dies.
i have 2, i don't even game but the FK1s are just too comfortable and perfectly subtle in appearance, i wouldn't buy any other rat now
Anyone have any experience with dumpster diving for older technology or similar?

Got my first computer when I was 10. It was an HP. No idea what the specs were.
My dad delivered garbage to a landfill and would find cool stuff. Brought home this dirty PC. He showed me how to install a BASIC interpreter and I had a manual on basic BASIC. Got me into programming. I made text adventures mostly. Wrote an interactive poem for my first girlfriend in 7th grade and she called me a nerd and broke up with me. She wound up developing a heroin addiction and died last year in a drunk driving accident. I am married now and have yet to write my wife anything half as beautiful as what I wrote Becky. I still have a shoebox full of notes that she wrote me. I checked my old email a few months ago and found one from her saying she remembered the breakup and regrets being a "stupid kid".
I wonder if I used up all of my romanticism or if I really felt that much love at such a young age. Holding hands with her past curfew at the park felt like such a rush. Now I drink daily because I feel like my life is over. I hold no emotion for Becky except pity, but she took something out of me that I will never get back.
I often dream of a cold wooded area where I am completely alone. It is peaceful and I am content as I dream. Some day I will move there and live for awhile as Emerson did. Then I will take all the LSD I brought with and quietly freeze to death leaning against a tree.
When the spring thaw comes I will decompose and feed life into the earth, as the earth has fed life into me. It is not a sad thing. It is just the way I was born to be. I will never feel the joy of handing my son his first computer and showing him how to program poems for his first girlfriend. At least he won't end up like me.
