Proud owner of a ThinkPad T400 here.
2.4GHz Core2Duo
8GB RAM
Switchable Graphics (Intel Graphics and AMD 3470)
250GB SSD
I haven't even once considered getting a newer laptop in the 5 years that I've had this machine. It runs Debian with MATE like a charm (Windows 7 too if you're into malware)
Anyone else so into ThinkPads? What's your favorite ThinkPad and why do you consider them superior over any other machine out there?

PS: Pic not mine because I don't own a camera because these are actually just tracking devices and I don't want the government to know where I live or what my penis looks like or something.
PPS: No, I'm not gonna install Gentoo.

>It seems that some Pixel devices are affected by the same infamous shutdown bug that plagued the Nexus 6P where the device would prematurely turn off at 25 to 35 percent.

>The Huawei Nexus 6P has finally received the Nougat update. But ever since, Google’s last ever Nexus device has been on the news, and for all the wrong reasons. Among the problems was a shutdown bug: the phone would shut down when the battery is at 30 percent or so.

>Well, it looks like the issue isn’t unique to those Nexus 6P users. A few Reddit users are reporting that their Pixel devices are also suffering from the same shutdown bug. Some Pixel phones would prematurely shut down at or around 30 percent and would not turn back on until a charger is connected.

Yes

PCI(e) devices have full access to the RAM.
GPUs have fully functional CPUs, running the firmware. Theoretically you could conceive a malicious firmware, just like you can infect hard drives, which the NSA has done in the past.

An IOMMU can stop them but most consumer motherboards don't support IOMMU.

AMD is a noble exception.
Their desktop CPUs support IOMMU. (It's actually a motherboard feature but Jewtel is blocking it with their CPUs).

Botnet Translate:
>In spite of everything, we know with almost certainty that the CPU that we used for the tests actually came close to the 5 GHz with an (huge) air-dissipator.
>One core, however, was active; The Motherboard VRMs seemed at that time too unstable to test with all of the cores.
Their only potential saving grace:
>Other Ryzen ES are currently in the hands of overclockers
>a demonstration of overclocking could occur at the CES if good results are achieved.

>>58240175
Many Android ROMs (like CyanogenMod) don't have any system-wide telemetry, unless you choose to enable it.

On Windows 10 you don't have a choice, telemetry is forced and cannot be disabled officially. (There's some choice on Enterprise/Education versions, but that's it.)
