Probably because your form is fucked up. Good way to jack your shoulder up is to bench press without scapular retraction.

the obesity epidemic affects each and every person in our nation, and this uniquely american idea that an individual is solely responsible for their own well-being is unrealistic. we really need to make some big changes or we are headed for failure.
fit people are more economically productive than obese people. so, solutions we could be looking into:
education. this, in my mind, is the most important. P.E. classes in public schools should be structured more specifically to teach students the fitness skills they need to lose weight. lifting weights is difficult if you've never done it before. people don't understand how exactly cardio is supposed to work, what heart rates to aim for and for how long. HIIT should be taught, and people should be taught weight-bearing exercises (lifting) with proper form. also nutrition education is a joke in this country and it's so sad that there are candy shops and soda vending machines in every high school. education efforts should go beyond children, too. we need community outreach programs, and frequent ads on TV and youtube reminding people of the economic costs of obesity. the government was able to successfully (and rightfully) demonize tobacco companies, and now it's time to radically shift public opinion on junk foods.
healthcare professionals doing their part. guess this is more education, but a lot of the time doctors and nurses opt for the path of least resistance when dealing with fat people (i've seen it) and don't properly explain the consequences of being fat. or simply don't mention it at all. being fat is a MEDICAL CONDITION, not an acceptable lifestyle choice. and medical professionals need to be speaking up about this to fat people at every available opportunity.

heavy "sin taxes" on junk foods, and big fines for snackfood companies. they created this problem. it absolutely should be illegal to push candy on kids with cartoon characters advertising the stuff. again, we should treat unhealthy foods more like tobacco and regulate it more carefully. advertising shit foods at all should be banned imo.
subsidize healthy foods, instead of corn syrup and soy. not that corn and soy can't be healthy, but the result of us subsidizing these foods is a plethora of junk processed food made with soy protein and corn syrup. this needs to end.

No. It doesn't remove depression but it makes a massive difference. In my opinion you should look for a sport that speaks to your heart, for me it's powerlifting, for you it could be bodybuilding or running or swimming, who knows. But exercise and the whole structured lifestyle of someone who works out makes huge differences in depression levels

I don't have money for a gym, but I have a solid set of dumbbells and a pull up bar. I have started running and want to get back into weightlifting. I'm pretty out of shape but nothing too bad, like 5'9 185 or so. I have a slight belly on me.
I have found 2 programs that are perfectly what I think I could do/need: 3x per week body weight workouts with dumbbells only. Could a few people look at both of these work outs and tell me which is better, primarily for weight loss but obviously building muscle if possible...

I eat 1500 calories/day or less, i bike M/W/F and ruck T/Th for an hour before my job but now I'm walking 6-7hrs a day, and I'm not losing any noticeable weight for the past month or so. I'm 6' 195lbs and want to cut to 165. Does it matter if I use a digital or manual scale? Should I bike/ruck on top of walking?
You should go see a nutritionist or a Physical therapist.
Chances are you're not counting calories properly, or you're expecting results too quickly. Also, 1500 cals is pretty extreme for your size. Why do you want to lose weight so quickly and be so miserable?
