What is a perpendicular workout to directly complement StrongLifts 5x5 during off weeks? Arnold says to "shock the body" but I'm doing the same shit over and over.
Is there another full-body thing like SL5x5 to do that still cohesively works the entire body but does it through different combinations of muscles or something?

Adding more weight each workout is going to shock the body and why would you consider switching program when you are still making gains on 5x5 which is made for novices to make fast gains. Personally i would stick to it as long as you get stronger on it (granted you are close to 1/2/3/4)
What's the best way to build muscle and burn fat without loosing weight?
I'm pretty satisfied with my weight right now (220 lbs at 6') but I'm looking to gain muscle and build a physique while burning off some extra fat. Should I drop down in weight and gain it back in muscle?

just squatted 245 for the 3x6 which i was really happy about, and my bench has gone up to 190 for the upper day
i do gotta say its super tiring to do heavy squats and then into 2 sets of heavy deadlifts for 6, and even the paused days (strength/control program) can be brutal. my deadlift is pretty shitty to begin with tho, so it might just be that
id say bring a snack with you to the gym to have after your squats
with my program i only do OHP for shoulder exercise and recently changed from pendlay rows to the bent-over rows for my horizontal movement
optional exercises are generally either facepulls, incline bench, more bicep work or weighted dips for upper day. Then for lower days its usually GHRs, highbar/front squat, romanian split squats, hamstring curls.
I have seen both strength and aesthetic gains, so im happy with my progress

First off, I understand that weight loss is calories in and calories out. If you eat less calories than you burn, your body will burn fat. I get that and I understand that.
Now, I know that some people take stimulants like phentermine to loss weight. Obviously this works with any drug that mimics adrenaline, but thats beyond the point. I'm just curious if someone can explain how one of the ways it is supposed to work actually works.
Stimulants make you less hunger, activation of the sympathetic nervous system naturally reduces hunger. I got that.
Stimulants also increase your metabolism by raising your blood pressure, increasing your heart rate and raise your body temperature. Got that makes total sense.
Yet I always see this also mentioned "Adrenaline encourages your body to break down fat cells for energy". Not as a side effect of lower hunger or increase metabolism, but on it's own.
I've been trying to understand this but I can find anything concrete on exactly how this works. Surely it won't do this if you are already at a deficit. The metabolic increase and hunger restrictions will already put your in a deficit. Won't your body always just break down enough fat to cover your caloric deficit or do stimulants actually break down a little more than it needs? If so, is this effect limited by caloric deficit or not? If you do a line of coke, will your body still break down some fat even if you're glycogen stores are full and you're not in a deficit? How significant is this effect?

You could do calisthenics at home and run outdoors. Or, you could go to the gym and face your fears of social anxiety. Once you move past it, and realize that those faggots that had a laugh are beneath you, you'll feel better as a whole, and you'll be better for having done that.

For reference, I go through one of these every other week.
I'm seriously lactose intolerant, and even though people tell me ordinary whey protein powders should have a low enough lactose content for it to be okay, they still give me hideously bad gas and stomach discomfort. Lactose also gives me acne and ruins my face. I would definitely rather get all my protein from meat but I've been working two jobs this summer and it's hard to manage that while still working out. Are vegan protein powders any good? What are the best protein sources, veggie? Pea? Rice? Tofu even? I don't want to gorge on estrogen or hormones either, can I still manage that?
