its a sad day for the snack food world
Anyone have good recipes that use yellow onions? I have a bag of them I want to use but dunno what I want to make.
>>7074177
Onions are gross and people shouldn't eat them.
Pretty much everything calls for onions but if you want to use the whole bag you should try to make french onion soup. It is just onions, meat/veggie broth, and lots of cheese.

Asshole
>be trained cook
>work in restaurant on the meat/fish line
>at least a hundred pieces of fish pass through my hands a week
>come home, decide to show flatmate how to do fish
>"oil needs to be hot, but not smoking like hell. You really only want each side to be seared long enough that its relevant inside half cooks through, and then you flip it over and repeat the process."
>used to having all the utensils I need at work
>none of it at home
>flip over fish, whacks into pool of hot oil
>hot oil flies everywhere, mostly onto me.
>flatmate asks cheekily if burning half your arms is part of the process.
>can only think what my head chef would thinking of me now
>works the fish station
>doesn't keep a fish spatula in his knife kit

Do you realise that CPAs don't try and show off their Excel skills away from the work place? That primary school teachers don't attempt to explain long division to their friends? That bus drivers don't spend their spare time chauffeuring strangers about?
It's because they realise that the job they do isn't remotely important by any metric. Why then, do you feel your job is so important that you a) patronise those around you with basic commonsense and b) regale us with boring stories of instances when your incompetence shone brighter than any talent or charisma you will ever have?
Accept your drudgery; accept that /ck/ is about outcomes and process rather than feelings and vignettes about your regrettable existence. Accept that no one cares.

How dare he have the nerve to post about cooking, on the food/cooking board of all places. You ought to be ashamed for triggering this gentle autist OP.

Toucans look funny.
Hey /ck/, just finished making my first onigiris. Do they look good?
>>7073970
They don't have that packed triangular shape I'd expect. How do they taste? Is that sushi rice?
What's on top? Some sort of green tea sesame seeds?
>>7073970
Looks delicious but a bit mushy... Rice may have needed a bit more cooling
Is it possible that everyone who claims they don't like cheese just hasn't met the right one yet? I'm not talking about the poor unfortunate lactose intolerant people who get the explosive shits if they eat any dairy.
I bought some of this today and had some for lunch and I can't imagine how someone wouldn't love the way this tastes. This is so fucking good I will buy more even if the price doubles after I run out.
Cheese thread anyone?
I love cheese. But it's like potato chips or donuts - it's junk food.
>>7073950
100% true
Grew up lactose intolerant and the allergy is slowly fading (luckily, not holding out luck that it won't return)
My first I started liking was mozzerella in my late teens, then provolone, then parmesan, then sharp cheddar and now have finally graduated to liking blue cheese
Obviously liked the blander ones and developed a liking to the actual cheesy taste and will eventually be a normal human being.
Still can't wrap my brain around limburger or super aged stilton however
Isnt all lactose is consumed by lactobacteria during fermentation?

There is an unprecedented amount of variety in supermarkets these days. This is what the average store in America looks like. Pictures are of Kroger, Murray's, Walmart, etc.

is that some kind of scandinavian molecular gastronomy thing? like edible sand made of dehydrated PX sherry and realistic tiny cacti that are actually small sea creatures that are still alive, trapped in a shell of crystallized steam?

My gf's sister does this & she's morbidly obese.
The exact definition of Amerifat
Fridge full of low fat/diet/gluten free bullshit & a freezer full of ice cream
Drinks big gulps of diet coke daily & must get an appetizer, sometimes 2 with every meal plus a dessert. Usually a giant slice of cheesecake
Yet she can't understand why she keeps gaining weight instead of losing it
