This. You always remove marinade from meat before cooking it, otherwise the marinade will burn well before the food itself is done.

I need help /ck/. I have been wanting to make rose butter but I keep hearing that roses are unsafe for consumption due to pesticides unless bought from an organic florist but there are none where i live. My question is whether or not i can buy from a normal store and just wash off the pesticides or if i should just not chance it. Also cooking with flowers thread.

Many pesticides are absorbed by the plant and there is no reason for a person growing roses to limit those kinds of pesticides as their flowers are not typically eaten. I don't think just washing them off will be sufficient if you want to cook with them.

Why not just buy rosewater?

>Many pesticides are absorbed by the plant

This.

Either buy rose extract and use that, or just mail-order edible rose petals.

Keep in mind that "organic" doesn't mean pesticide-free. It means a different set of pesticides may be used. Organic produce may still have pesticide on it, it's just not those on a specific list.

Duly noted. I have rose water but since i am making cupcakes with it i was afraid that rose would not be strong enough of a flavor and be overpowered so i wanted to reinforce it with rose butter. Do you know of any way to ensure that the rose flavor does become to mellow?

Meh I think this gin is better but it's okay with orange juice - it freaks my gf out
>>
>>7071166
I think it's as good as Tanqueray, and have no problem ordering it in public. /ck/, though in general, has exhibited a knee-jerk snobbishness toward it that I can't understand other than to chalk it up to anti-corporatism of non USA gin drinkers who maintain loyalty to a local favorite.

Like this confused or trolling (or intoxicated) anon >>7071170 I prefer the brown spirits.

But for a summer cooler, Sapphire and tonic is fine. Also adequate for a Martini with a breath of vermouth. FillARocksGlassWithIce/10.

I was reading about the amazing benefits of sardines. I was wondering what would be some ways of making extremely simple meals with these things. I would just eat them plain, but I doubt that would be very easy. I was thinking maybe if I cooked them on a stove that they would be more tasty, or if I put them in a wrap with some cheese or kale, maybe that would make them fun to eat. I'm not against eating them plain, as long as they have no head and tail.

Canned sardines are already cooked, as are all canned foods. There's no point in cooking them further, though you could heat them up of course.

I like 'em on top of some toasted bread with some thinly sliced onion.

>>7070990
sounds delicious. thank you.

How do canned sardines taste? Last time I ate something canned it was shrimp and it was awful.

This is what I had.
There's a small café in my school and I got this. I like to do my work there because there's a really nice Swedish chef who sometimes works the counter when he's not working in the store room and I absolutely love him. It's a really nice way for baking/pastry students to raise funds for ingredients and get some practise for the workforce.
The blackberry cream cheese danishes are my favourite thing to get there.

Persian food is pretty good and it is an inspiration for many indian dishes too!

I know you par boil the rice then steam the rice for a long ass time... but the bottom layer ends up fucking burnt not nice and toasty. Grew up Bahai with a bunch of slippery Iranians in my church.

/ck/, help me cook for my boyfriend. He was diagnosed with gout a couple of years ago. And it has been hell these past few months. He has lost a lot of weight, and is no longer overweight (which his doctor said would help), but even though he has lost a good 40 pounds, he is still having gout attacks almost every 2 weeks.

He is in severe pain. He loves red meat and potatoes. And it's pretty much all he knows how to cook. He's picky with vegetables and chicken.

He cannot have:
red meat
mushrooms
cauliflower
beans, lentils, legumes
asparagus
beer/wine

He can have:
only chicken breast in small amounts
pasta, rice, grains
dairy
fats, oils
all vegetables excluding ones above
fruit, fruit juices

And unfortunately, all those foods are probably the only vegetables he would eat.

I cook for him on the weekends, so that's taken care of, but I am planning to give him a few gout-friendly recipes. Any idea on how to make savory, delicious foods without the use of any of those ingredients? I have turned him onto tofu, but I need to teach him how to prepare it. Unfortunately, eggs are the only protein source he can have in unlimited quantity, but he hates the taste/smell of egg, so anyway to mask it in a recipe with that as the main protein?

He also needs to make his meals on the go. He works a 40+ hour work week. On the weekends, I make extra quantity for his lunch for the next day or so. But I want to give him a good recipe book he can rely on. All he's eating right now is like top ramen and spaghettios and other unhealthy, but convenient shit.

So far, I've got
-baked sweet potato
-fried rice with egg
-tofu stirfry
-roasted chicken breast with root vegetables
-chicken broccoli alfredo

will you help me come up with more?

Why does it seem like most people dont have enough water in their coffee? Whenever I try someone elses coffee it always tastes so groundy and heavy. The key ingredient to coffee is water.
