Lunch food for work.

I need help coming up with ideas for lunch food for my everyday at the office. I'm tired of spending money eating out, I'd like to save some money.

However, I've tried things like making simple sandwiches, from PB&J's to salami/ham with mustard and the taste just isn't how it was when I was a kid. Looking for things I can make during breakfast to take for lunch.

Of course I could bring frozen dinners but I am looking for things to actually make to eat later.

This might be a stupid question but I don't frequent this board so idk

Is anyone here vegan? Or even vegetarian? I've recently made the plunge after watching some documentaries and I'm finding it quite difficult to avoid all dairy and eggs. If anyone has quick tips or suggestions for meals (especially breakfast...) that's be awesome.

Feel free to mock me.

I usually just bake it in the oven. Never tried sesame seeds on bacon, though.
>>
>>7099193
sounds interesting, will do next time
>>
>>7099198
I do this too. I know it's slightly better to fry it, but when I make bacon I like to make the entire pound at once and that takes three full pans and three times as long to cook.on the stove. I can just pop two aluminum lined baking trays in a 400 degree oven for 15 minutes and have the entire pound cooked.

Today I made a couple of seafood dishes and I would like to share. The first dish is my own recipe that I thought up while in my bathtub setup watching IEM (pic of my bathtub setup will be the last pic I share today) and it turned out great.I'll start with the pics from that; If anyone wants a step by step at the end let me know.

I am pretty new to cooking and have learned a lot through this board surprisingly though and other channels so this is my first real creation based on all of the knowledge I have gathered from you (not all of you, most of you are mental)

so lets get started.

P.S. Also I would just like everyone that is a PP fan that the movie trailer will be shown at IEM today before the LoL Finals.

Too the cooking now:

So I started out making my sauce, which will also house my fish for cooking.

This is the fish that has been sitting out for a bit and seasoned; that little white thing on the top happened some how; when I added a certain ingrediant some of it curled up and made that delicious little parmesan fucker.

>Work abroad
>A group of Americans from the company I work for are having a Thanksgiving get together.
>Decide, fuck it I should go
>Potluck style, so everyone who comes brings some stuff
>Most of the food ends up being complete garbage
>People using canned soup and vegetables for casseroles
>People using bagged pre-shredded cheese. And it was not even a decent brand- it was Kraft (and we are in England- they have great cheddar here)
>They use cool whip for the pie. How fucking hard is it to buy some cream and whip it yourself?

Now, for day to day cooking I can understand some of these shortcuts, though I still don't do them myself, but for a damn holiday meal can't you at least take a little more time to make food that isn't half processed shit???

Any other horrible holiday meal stories?

Sorry anon, the only thing the American government allows us to eat is Kraft singles, and making anything from scratch was outlawed in 1967. Therefore, you will never meet or see a single american ever making anything homemade.

So let's talk nuts. Honestly speaking, I don't know anything about them, except that I should be eating them. How does one go about storing them and how the hell do I tell if it's rancid or not? How soon should I put them actual storage after I buy them, because the last batch I think I bought were already rancid I think.

Also what's your favorite type of nut?

What's the best way to make home-made french fried for those of us that don't have a deep fryer?

Pan?
Oven?
Parboil?
Rinse?
Salt?
Oil?
26 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Pan, with oil.
>>
I usually slice and parboil the potatoes, then wash, then put them in the fridge for a few hours or overnight. Then pan fry (the potato slices are very dry on the outside at this point). Not sure if this is necessary but I think it results in soft centres but crisp outsides.

Peel.
Cut your potatoes into a rectangle with a large knife.
Cut them into 1/4 inch matchsticks.
Fry them twice, I like to use peanut oil in a cast iron skillet, first at 325 then at 350 which I think can be approximated by a medium then a medium high heat fry if you lack a thermometer.
Salt and season at the end.
