Red-pill me on chestnuts, /ck/.
So far all I've read is:
>boiling makes them soft but sweeter than roasting
>roasting them makes them slightly less sweet but with a roasted flavor
>a good percentage of raw, loose chestnuts will be bad (mold, worms, shriveled up, etc)
I need chestnuts for a stuffing, and possibly cookies.
I assume boiling is easier, but doesn't the song say "chestnuts roasting..."?
Those are not chest nuts

those are conkers
you tie a string in them and bash people and their own conkers with your own conker

Are you taking advantage of this deal this week?
Yes. Too bad BK nuggers blow, and so does their BBQ sauce.
>eat 30 nuggers
>drink 18 beers
>wake up in puddle of beer and nugger vomit
The smell of regurgitated BK nugs will forever ruin them for me
>>7106750
Fuck you, at least their bbq sauce isn't just brown ketchup. It has a nice bite to it

How does /ck/ make their ramen?
In a plastic bowl where I pour boiling water over it.
I take the block out of the bag and boil it in a soup made of whatever the fuck is in the fridge. Then I crack two eggs into it and wait for the whites to cook.
That's the extent of how fancy I'm willing to get.
>>7106485
I make shiitake dashi instead of niboshi or katsuboshi since I can't get the fish for cheap. I want to try making a chicken stock too.
What do you think of my pizza, /ck/?

Why is smoked salmon so fucking amazing?
>>7106010
juden, pls go
glutamates I think
>>7106010
Smoked fish is inherently amazing. Smoked salmon is just a popular example. Mackerel, herring, trout, sturgeon, sable and whitefish are all equally good. Even smoked sardines are fucking bomb.
I will never forget, unless I get alzheimer's, being a young kid like 7 or 8 years old and stopping by some really 90s era type pizza place in a small town. Before all this gourmet, organic and shit happened when a pizzeria had plain white walls and some plain metal big oven.
I asked for pineapple pizza and the guy heated up a pizza and whipped out an opened Dole™ pieapple can and placed some squares on it.
Got it to go and as we're walking outside my dad just slightly mentions "He just put canned pineapple on it, I could've done that".
You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between canned and fresh.
>>7106007
I most certainly could of then and can now. I just didn't care about things like that when I was younger.
Canned pineapple, Dole™, is more watery and less crispy. They also are not as "juicy" and lack a firm crispy profile. They tend to be like a moistened jello block. A freshly cut pineapple is crispy and juicy. It's not watery but is loaded with juicy flavor and has a sort of crunch.
>>7106007
are you fucking kidding or is your mouth broken?
Hey guys. So I have 1.5 lbs of ground beef thawed and 1 lb of pork thawing now to use for dinner.
In my infinite drunk wisdom I took the beef out last night and now I don't know what to use it and the pork for. I'm sure last night I had a grand plan in mind but as you all know it's gone now.
So, anyone have suggestions for using ground beef and pork for a meal? And don't say meatloaf please, I made one last Wed I think and I don't want to cop out and do that again.
I'm in New England so I could go use my grill, it's not cold enough out yet (Not like that matters I shoveled to my grill last year through 3 ft of snow)
I was thinking maybe taco night? I could do some shrimp too. Throw the beef and pork in a pan and season and then do the same with the shrimp.
Chili
>>7106034
If I would do chili I would use my crockpot. It's just a lot easier and I love slow cooking. Thanks for the suggestion though.
BTW: I have a pretty good pantry, I have a good amount of spices and herbs, I have onions, jalapenos, potatoes, parsley, cilantro blah blah...
