Ok guys, so for dinner tonight I want to make chicken flautas/taquitos. I have most of a rotisserie chicken left over that I'm going to shred up to use but what else would make a good taquito?
I was thinking about sauteing and onion and then throwing the shredded chicken in the pan and coating it with some spices but I don't know how much or exactly what to use.
Anybody have any good taquito recipes?
Bump, anyone have any suggestions?
Chicken with lime salt and cayenne is goat. I
've never made taquitos, but for the filling id probably boil some chicken breast, shred it, put it in a, pan with a bit of lard and seasoning and fry it up.

so like, really thin tacos? Just use less filling and only use cheese + meat then wrap it tight.
use cumin, corriander, cinnamon, salt, pepper, oregano and orange peel.
/ck/, what's your favorite way to prepare squash? Bonus points for butternut squash!
Last year I did a butternut squash soup for thanksgiving, but I think soup is sort of weird in the whole assortment of thanksgiving stuff.
I'm worried roasting it, as in this recipe, might be too boring:
>cooksillustrated.com/recipes/7718-roasted-butternut-squash-with-goat-cheese-pecans-and-maple
(if there's a paywall, ill post recipe in subsequent post)
And then there's this option for mashing it:
>marthastewart.com/938822/butternut-squash-mash
This seems on the simpler, unadulterated sort of thing:
>foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/caramelized-butternut-squash-recipe.html
IIRC, when I've enjoyed butternut squash in the past, its usually either in a soup or sauce (and so there's likely heavy cream doing some work) or there's been bacon or chilis that are adding a savory or spicey edge to it.
What would you do?

Re: roasted squash w goat cheese, pecans and maple syrup:
>For plain roasted squash omit the topping. This dish can be served warm or at room temperature. For the best texture it’s important to remove the fibrous flesh just below the squash’s skin.
>1. FOR THE SQUASH: Adjust oven rack to lowest position and heat oven to 425 degrees. Using sharp vegetable peeler or chef’s knife, remove skin and fibrous threads from squash just below skin (peel until squash is completely orange with no white flesh remaining, roughly 1/8 inch deep). Halve squash lengthwise and scrape out seeds. Place squash, cut side down, on cutting board and slice crosswise 1/2 inch thick.
>2. Toss squash with melted butter, salt, and pepper until evenly coated. Arrange squash on rimmed baking sheet in single layer. Roast squash until side touching sheet toward back of oven is well browned, 25 to 30 minutes. Rotate sheet and continue to bake until side touching sheet toward back of oven is well browned, 6 to 10 minutes. Remove squash from oven and use metal spatula to flip each piece. Continue to roast until squash is very tender and side touching sheet is browned, 10 to 15 minutes longer.
>3. FOR THE TOPPING: While squash roasts, stir maple syrup and cayenne together in small bowl.
>4. Transfer squash to large serving platter. Drizzle maple mixture evenly over squash. Sprinkle with goat cheese, pecans, and thyme and serve.
I like to chop it up, quick roast, then put it in my footbath. makes the room smell great.
OP, my family doesn't dig butternut, but they'll eat it as soup.
I use Cook's recipe from years ago. Silky might be in the name. Super easy. Shallots and butter and all the stuff you scoop out goes into the pot, and you steam the pieces over that. You can season how you want, but I like just a pure squash flave.
Soup is deelish at Thanksgiving, but you just have to do a separate course.
I'd make a sushi joke with this pic, but that would probably be in poor taste :-P
Thanks, Lori.
When did my aunt get a 4chan account ?
Amazing thread OP, please post more.
How do I make/cook a cheesteak? What kind of meat is required?
>>7092928
Always use mutton
Get a good ass steak, slice it as thin as humanely possible, grill 'er up to your liking in a good skillet with bell peppers, mushrooms, and onions, throw it all on a toasted roll and top it with melted Cheez Whiz (or use provolone if you can't bring yourself to do it the right way).
Take top round, slice extremely thin, cook with desired vegetables on griddle, place on "hoagie" roll, throw away cheez wiz or american cheese, put some decent cheese on top, eat.
The nice thing about making it yourself rather than going to Pat's or Geno's is that you're not under any social pressure to get processed cheese if you don't want to.
breakfast thread
what's the best thing to get at the usual breakfast restaurant?
I prefer to get fried potatoes with a mix of meats, eggs and cheese, and some kind of sauce on top of it all.

A nice amount of PLEB.
Because you are what you eat. A pleb.

Isn't this from Animal Crossing? I didn't know it was a real fruit. Though looking back, it would be a bit weird if they included a fictional one among the real ones. What do they taste like?
I've been considering getting pic related from kickstarter for 3 days now and cannot make up my mind.
Possible cons:
Replacement blades?
Running your blade over a surface all the time will dull it quickly
Questions:
How does it do cutting thicker things
Possible pros:
Looks fun to use
I mostly cut baguette (not good for this) and slice meat for jerky (maybe good for this).
And vegetables for stirfry. I'll have to precut the cauliflower and broccoli, and it might cut carrots good?
I wish I had no ethics so I could fleece the mentally disabled on a cyberbegging site with a clean conscience

Why do animals grow meat? I mean what's the point?
They need it to move their bones and sustain their organs.
how else would they taste good
Activists cut the ends off rhino horns to stop poachers.
Why don't they just cut the meat off the cow to stop farmers?

9 times out of 10 its a large young/middle age white woman who gets hateful with me. I had to get one lady perma-banned over Velveeta cheese. It's always worse when they have small children with them, their rudeness increases tenfold for some reason.

Just people who come in and completely try to customise their meal. Just choose something off of the menu or fuck off imo

I work at a sushi restaurant so we attract some pretty bad weebs. One of them, with blue hair and acne to style, was shouting loudly about how gluten free is stupid right after the table next to his had requested something gluten free. One of the waitresses asked him to kindly talk quieter (its a real small restaurant). He proceeded to shout about his second amendment right, how censorship is killing small businesses (or something like that, I didnt really understand), then started shouting about how offended he was that a waitress would offer to give him a fork instead of chopsticks. I along with the other sushi chef ran out from the bar and told him to leave then had to drag him by his arms and threaten calling the police.
Tl:dr got to drag a /pol/ weebo out of the restaurant I work at
>eat out with group of people including one long haired girl
>after having eaten her entire meal conveniently finds a long hair on her plate which clearly came from herself
>demands her meal be comped
so fucking embarassing
who else thinks panda expresses new recipe for fried rice is shit?
>muh egg shortage
literally no other place is being this big of a jew.
>>7092518
I think I ate at a panda express once, maybe 20 years ago.
I think if you get buttblasted enough over a menu change at a cheap chain mall restaurant that you're making a thread about it on 4chan, something has gone terribly wrong with your life
Have you considered joining the military? They could train you and give you discipline.

you're right i got your mom pregnant and she wants to keep it.
>>7092521
Wow you must be jesus or something, because my mom is way past menopause.
Why is a half man half god eating at panda express? You could literally turn loaves of wonder bread into tilapia and slash your wrists and drink the communion wine that gushed out.
Hey there friends of the internet i'm planning on making a pretty big breakfast on sunday since I've seriously cut back on drinking and can no longer sleep for more then 3 hours at a time, so whats your ideal breakfast /ck/?
I'm going to make hash browns, breakfast sausage, seared oyster mushrooms with roasted shallots, toast, salad with lemon vin, and 3 poached eggs. One cup of coffee and 2 cups of orange juice.
I'm hoping the food coma will dominate the caffeine from the coffee and I go right back to bead.
pic unrelated but still food
Since this thread is about breakfast, I figured I'd ask here
I've been trying to learn fried eggs for a while, adn even with some tricks like throwing a little piece of bread to know when the oil is ready to fry, i can never do decent fried eggs. I just tried with 4 eggs and no success.
Whats the trick ?
>>7092405
No trick, just gotta git gud and develop a feel for it. Each time you make eggs, determine what the problem is and try to correct it, eggs are like babby's first finicky food, in that they're simple but it requires you to understand what you're doing rather than just following directions.
Just make sure you're on medium, medium low heat, and be generous with the lube
>>7092405
wait for the oil to let heat rise up to 4-5 inches from the pan. drop the eggs and wait for 1 min then drop a spoonful of water in the pan not directly on the egg and cover. wait for 1 min 30 secs and voila runny yolk without snotty whites.
Hey friends! Let us make some 닭갈비 (Dak Galbi) together!. This is a spicy chicken dish from Korea that is very easy to make. I like to cook it after work. It is very delicious!
>>7092337
First we must take a shot of soju (a korean alcoholic beverage).
Next we must start the rice. Remember to just a touch more water than rice to the pot. Heat on high until it begins to boil. Then quickly turn to the lowest setting and cover.
Let us get to the meat (literally!). First we must oil the pan with sesame oil!
There's literally only potatoes here, (and maybe some egg and rice). What should I cook /ck/? I'm sick of simple potato dishes actually.
Also, no oven.

Remind me never to go your restaurant in your mom's basement where they serve nothing but microwave chicken fingers and mayonnaise.
