Doesn't have to be the most expensive, just the most useful to you. I'd have to say a kitchen thermometer personally, not only did it obviously allow me to do meats correctly, it better taught me how to judge time and appearance needed for things without having to slice it open before it's done
Chefalarm oven thermometer. I tend to finish things in the oven these days so its definitely convenient.

Cooking at work :) My today's lunch: pasta with cottage cheese. Diet version.
Ingredients:
75g of pasta (here, a cheap ramen, no need to cook.)
150g of skim cottage cheese
stevia
cinnamon
vanilla sugar
yogurt
Crumble the pasta in the package. Switch the kettle on.
Put the noodles in the mug. Discard the spices or leave them to spice up something else. This is a sweet dish.

Approximately 11,000 online recipes are to be dropped following a review of the BBC’s online output that promises to save £15m a year by cutting back on magazine-style content as well as local news.
The recipes are being “archived or mothballed”, a source said, and will “fall off the face of the internet” after the food site is closed, with no live links.
The broadcaster will remove the recipes on its food site although recipes from television shows will remain online for a 30-day period after transmission and the plans will not affect commercial services such as BBC Good Food. Other text-based online offerings are also expected to be hit. A number of travel articles are also expected to be taken offline.
In an announcement due to be made to staff on Tuesday, the BBC will promise a more “focused and distinctive service” with a number of well-known services either closed or scaled down over the next 12 months.
Tuesday’s announcement comes after a bruising battle with the government over the BBC’s market impact, which resulted in last week’s white paper. Although it was widely considered to be better than expected for the BBC, the corporation is responding to comments made by George Osborne, the chancellor, last summer in which he said the BBC was being “imperial in its ambitions” by expanding into content such as recipes.
A BBC insider said the changes were an attempt to focus on distinctive content online, an adjective to be added to the corporation’s mission statement.
“While our audiences expect us to be online, we have never sought to be all things to all people and the changes being announced will ensure that we are not,” he said. “These changes won’t be popular with all members of the public, but we think they are the right thing to do.”

Nobody ever believes me, but there's literally nothing better. When I spent time in France I could honestly eat a baguette with Dijon mustard, cornichons, and some cured meat/pate for every single meal.
There's a lot I don't like about French culture, but I will adamantly defend them for making the best bread in the world. Foie gras and their cheese doesn't hurt either.

im not from usa, i used to make them thin, like a thick crépes, i discovered that recipe recently.
