What is the best pizza-style in the United States, /ck/, and why? Which is the worst?

Wiki lists Californian, New Haven, Detroit, Quad Cities, Chicago, New York, and St Louis. Are there any more than co/ck/s might know of?

I'm not an American, so I can only compare New York to Chicago deep dish. New York was much better - the deep-dish was so heavy, over-topped, and the cheese was usually too cold.

New York, on the other had, was simplicity itself.

The pizza-styles I'd most like to try next would be Quad Cities (sounds interesting) and Detroit (sounds awesome). St Louis sounds dire.

What are your thoughts /ck/?

Literally who gives a shit? Are you planning to tour the USA and try every single regional variation of pizza? Then you'll make your own mind up. If you're not planning to do that, why post this fucking thread the BILLIONTH FUCKING TIME you unimaginative fucking retard? At least put some fucking effort into your shitposting.

Go get fucked. Every post after this one is OP samefagging to bump his shitty thread.

You can use bacon fat in place of pork lard, and beef trimmings in place of beef tallow.
Duck is more expensive and harder to find, so I'd go with the duck fat.

Unless you find out a brilliant way to bite into it the tomato juice just flows out making it really messy. Works better for something like bell pepper though.

Does /CK/ have a favorite cooking knife? What company made it, how do you care for it and what accessories ( sharpeners, oils, etc. ) do you use on your blade? Is Carbon or Stainless better for a cooking steel and which variant of each do you like most/hate least?"

I've been eyeing Dexter-Russell, Old Hickory and Victorinox recently as my old knives need to be replaced.

Old Hickory are very underrated and extremely good quality knives.
>>
>>7678918
I've heard that before about the old Old Hickory knives. I've heard the current production of Old Hickory knifes are far ( less ) in quality from the old Old Hickory but still nothing to scoff at in comparison to what is on the market today. Do you use old Hickory, anon/if so when were yours made?
>>
>>7678969
I use the butcher knife a lot. The trick with the newer ones is to grind back the factory edge a little to get to the better quality steel. It sounds weird but the factory edge isn't great. Over time you'll find the blade gets a better and better edge the more you sharpen.

Make any bread today /ck/?

I used a modified version of Ken Forkish's Overnight Country Blonde. I modified it in regards to my kitchen temp of 77-78 F. So basically bulk ferment for 4 hours at room temp, then put into fridge for another 10-12 hours (watch it). Then just simply let it finish fermenting for another 2-3 hours at room temp.

The proofing stage is basically proofing/shape stage is proofing for 1-2 hours in its baskets on the counter and then placing in the fridge for another 1 or so. After wards let it rest at room temp while waiting for your oven to heat up and then bake.

Monsanto is a chemical company that was started in the year 1901. They created DDT and Agent Orange. Many people aren’t even aware of their existence and that needs to change ASAP. They’re absolutely huge and own a majority of agricultural production WORLDWIDE (India currently having many legal issues with them). (See link-http://www.truth-out.org/buzzflash/commentary/make-monsanto-pay-for-swindling-farmers-in-india) (yes source is a blog, but she’s a doctor and you can easily google her). I’m sure many of you have heard of GMO… guess who made those? MONSANTO. They are the ones who directly poison our food and encourage the use of chemicals in/on our food.
More than just health effects, (see link by New York Times about lawsuits against them) [http://www.nytimes.com/2016/03/01/business/monsanto-could-benefit-from-a-chemical-safety-bill.html] this company bullies and threatens farmers into producing their GMO crops. (see free doc- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvkNda-_jdc) . It’s important to note that GMO crop are to be made on a mass production scale and require heavy and expensive machinery (in order to keep up production) that poor farmers- especially 3rd world farmers- cannot afford. Unlike normal, natural plants, GMO crops (seeds) do not come back every year and must be repurchased from Monsanto with money that farmers do not have! There was a mass suicide among farmers in India over a ten year span that started in 2005 simply because they, as poor, 3rd world farmers, could not meet Monsanto’s requirements and fell into financial ruin! The farmers that produce food don’t even have enough to eat themselves- this is so sad!

To make things worse, Monsanto has sued farmers and have won in court! Monsanto has patented (copyrighted) GMO seeds, making them illegal to use/ sell unless paid for. Many crops, such as corn, are wind pollinated and can easily contaminate a neighbouring farmer’s organic crop (via wind).
When their crop tests positive for GMO and they don’t pay Monsanto- they sue the farmers and succeed in doing so! See how they can scare farmers?!
These crops, because of how large the sale is, must be maintained with the use of chemicals. (Chemicals synthesized by Monsanto as well). As stated before, Monsanto’s use of pesticides and fungicides contain chemicals that are very harmful to us and the environment. It’s odd how a chemical can kill all the plants (weeds) around the crop but not the actual crop itself. When it rains on these crops, its causes a toxic runoff that drains into bodies of water and pollutes them! Hence why it’s only recommended to eat fish once a week, as their mercury levels are so high (and for some reason we take that as fact and we’re all okay with it!)
The only financially reasonable way we can help is to spread the word and raise awareness of this company and what’s its doing to us and our planet. As a company that only cares about revenue, when people become aware, their sales will go down! When more people find out, Monsanto will only have two choices: either change their ways or go out of business.
I’m not debating whether GMO crop is good or bad. My focus is on the health effects of pesticides on us and the environment. And also, the hardships of famers (especially 3rd world). Here are some scholarly articles that are a better source than the blog (Blog is written by a doctor though).

Thanks everyone for your time reading this and perhaps together we can discuss environmentally sustainable agriculture such as polyculture (see google lol)! I appreciate everyone’s feedback, negative or positive. A quick reminder that not everyone will agree (even some farmers), so remember to be patient and respectful of everyone’s opinion… as change does not happen overnight!

Instead, dry beans have 20.2g/100g

Why this? On the cooking process you loose a lot of protein like this? Why write the protein before cooking if you can't eat raw beans?

They take out the protein and make isolates to sell to vegan bodybuilders, that's how they rip you off.

I tried cooking some pork ass in a hole in the ground, as I often do, but something went awry. When I uncovered it 6 or so hours later, it was entirely uncooked, as if the perfect coals I had going when I buried it had died as soon as they were covered. Now, I would say they were suffocated, but I've done this so many times, and this has never happened. Is it bad charcoal? Anyway, my main question is: if I try cooking this pork (which sat in a tepid hole in the ground for 6 hours) in my oven and eat it, will I die?

Of course it is. Though, you might run into a problem with the temperature. CO2 gas is more soluble in cold liquids than hot liquids. Since coffee is typically served hot it won't retain very much carbonation.

You could use a sodastream or pic related to carbonate any aqueous solution.
>>
>>7686307
Yup. It's just not very good, but you absolutely can. Like >>7686315 said, hot liquids are a little harder to work with, but still possible.

You can also carbonate milk.

(Don't carbonate milk.)
>>
You might have better luck if you carbonate iced coffee. But then you would end up with carbonated iced coffee which will probably be bad. I haven't tried it, but I work at a Starbucks and I'll try it today and I'll let you know the result if the thread is still up
