Hey CK what do you use garlic/onion powder for? Do they belong in a serious cook's arsenal?

They're good for spice rubs, or any application where moisture would be a problem e.g. popcorn seasoning

NO but one time when reaching for the lube I grabbed on of these and we don't speak of the pain.

/ck/ I may have fucked up.

My roommate is a swedefag and made a bunch of semla buns covered to rise. I ate one of them raw about an hour ago and I'm experiencing a lot of stomach discomfort. Am I gonna die?

Juniper berries? Reminds me of a old friend..
I wonder if he still makes that mead with juniper berries mixed in.

I'd eat it. As a matter of fact, I'd eat that at a baseball game. It would go great outdoors with an icy brew.

ITT we post the dish we'd make if we were having a chick over and wanted to get some action.

I'd probably just do a simple roasted chicken with some roasted potatoes and green beans. I'd just time it so the chicken was more or less done by the time they got here and I could have her help out with the sides or to make the pan jus.

What else would /ck/ make if they were trying to get laid?

I'd definitely be making roast unicorn in such a scenario.

I invited this really high class woman over to my mom's house. I don't have a hot plate or anything in the basement so I made PB&J with the crusts cut off. The night ended in sheer ecstasy and bliss (once the roofies kicked in).

I need a quick tip to stay awake, it's 4:23am here where I live, and I plan on staying up all night, go to work, and then sleep when I get back. Can't grab coffee and I can't get out and buy an energy drink. How to stay awake?

Anyone else here that actually likes veggie burgers? I'm not even vegetarian but I like them from time to time. I bought pic related for the first time tonight. I usually stick with Morningstar or Boca but these were on sale.

I love veggie burgers. Granted I'm vegetarian, so I don't know if I'd still eat them if I went back to meat, but they definitely satisfy the craving and don't taste like shit. Harvey's makes a pretty good veggie burger, and as far as grocery-brand I've only ever tried Yves, which is alright.

Now veggie hotdogs, on the other hand, are an abomination.
>>
Those are delicious, OP. Enjoy.
>>
>>7712656

there are good veggie burgers

they're all overpriced though

i'd eat them exclusively if they werent like 5 times the price of beef ones

Dip tendies in mashed potatoes. Send complaint to KFC website, you'll probably get a coupon for free food.

Do you have one?

If yes how often do you wash it? I'm talking about a proper dismantling and washing every part with soap (except for the filter obviously).

>>
When it starts to look dirty.

The only thing touching the inside should be water, and giving it a quick wipe down with a soapy sponge takes 30 seconds.
>>

Once every 2-3 months, when I change the filter.

What are some simple things you like to eat?

I like eating sandwiches made with honey roast ham and thin cut slices of granny smith apples.

Obviously not cut like in the picture, more like tomato slices.

I would like to cook a fun dinner for 7 people (friends and family). I was thinking chicken parmesan using mozzarella cheese and a premium tomato sauce. I was also considering a chicken and steak barbecue but I thought it would be too boring. Do you guys have any ideas on how to make the barbecue more fun or any other good ideas for a fun dinner for 7? Money is not an issue. Thanks.

pic unrelated. I like dogs.

>>7712355
Are you going to use a canned "premium" sauce?
>>
>>7712355
>steak
>barbecue
sorry, but that sounds absolutely awful. steak cuts are much better suited to quick, high cooking like with a grill, pan, or broiler, rather than the low and slow method used in barbecue. If you barbecue a steak, you're just gonna be halfway between steak and jerky, and it won't be good. Barbecue chicken is good, but you have to make sure you don't add too much smoke.
>>
>>7712359
my mom will probably buy some expensive jarred sauce. We are not going to make our own but we won't be using Ragu etc.

>>7712366
the steaks would go on the grill, but I think they would be too bland on their own.

How does one make the perfect pan cooked burger? Dry or moist. Medium or well-done ?

>>
85/15 ground beef formed into a patty and seasoned liberally with salt and pepper. Put it in a hot pan with no extra fat. When the brown starts creeping up the sides flip it over and continue cooking to your desired doneness. I do medium rare if it's decent meat, medium if it's cheap, 100 cows in a bite, type stuff.
>>
>>7712118
No bread crumbs, egg, or Westchester sauce?
>>
Moist, cooked to medium/medium-well.

At the risk of being branded as some heretic, I mix a heaping tablespoon of beefstock powder into a pound of 80/20 ground beef rather than salt. Then I form my patties, get my pan hot, cook one side, flip, top with sautéed mushrooms and onions and a slice of cheese then remove to a bun, two slices of sandwich bread or two slices of toast and consume.

I was curious how /ck/ defines a bbq.
What has to be there in order to be the quintessential bbq party that you would meet your definition?
I'm referring to everything from food to drinks to possibly the set up.
Thanks

I don't consider BBQ and a BBQ party the same thing, but do use both terms.

BBQ is slow smoked meat. A BBQ party usually just involves grilling, and alcohol, and everyone being outside.
