Hey /ck/, how can I get my dad interested in learning how to cook?
My mom passed away 7 years ago, and she was the one who did all the cooking in the house. My dad considers it dinner if he can warm up an instant pizza.
My sister and I cook but we've got our own lives and families. My grandma spoils him like crazy and cooks for him all the time so he's never had to learn, but she's 90 and I want him to learn how to make basic stuff after she passes away so that he doesn't die of malnutrition or become a fatass.
Any tips on how to facilitate this, or easy recipes for beginners?

He may just not be interested in it. I think its an important skill and I've tried to teach a good friend or two some basic things but they still can't even make fried eggs. If he can't see the value in cooking for yourself, I doubt he will.

Trump would be so proud of your blurry pic of unappetizing food.

the visual appeal of your celebratory dish is a true metaphore for the average iq of the us citizen

Actually, I'm gonna be looking through every food product I buy to make sure none of my money goes to American companies.

This year just gets worse and worse.
You wish you were eating this right now.

I am having a very hard time figuring out what the third thing on that plate is
and the steak is overcooked and underseared
>>8261935
I'm guessing it's the remains of what was a baked potato.
>>8261935
its a baked potato with a bit of cheese. Instead of cutting it open i tend to just flatten it a bit with a masher.
And the steak was definitely not over cooked. I usually do leave it a bit more rare but I wanted it a tiny bit more cooked today. The sear could have been better. I didn't let the pan heat up long enough.
Over all it was nom as fuck though.
Whats the standard amount of utensils for a house? Going to buy some. Is 12 settings enough?
>>8261752
Well it depends on how many people live in that house
If it's just you 1 set is more than enough
>>8262609
Let's face it, 1 set isn't more than enough
You couldn't get by with 0.99 of a set, c'mon now - be reasonable.
>>8262613
You could certainly get by with only one fork and two spoons, as opposed to 3 of each

When I order chinese fried noodles(with pork, chicken, beef, rat or whatever), what is the sauce they use?
I know there is soy sauce involved but I haven't been able to reproduce the same taste at home with just soy sauce and sesame oil.
So what is the more or less standard sauce mixture chinese restaurants use?
MSG
>>8261552
And some ginger.
Cornstarch slurry to thicken your sauce, Rice syrup + soy + vinegar + sesame oil is a good base
who here ready for the future?
>eating daily staple of fish on a bed of seaweed
>making all that fucking space in the ocean useful
>letting wild fish populations grow back

WHAT THE FUCK
You like wine?
no but i made shrimp scampi last night and i had to buy some and it doesnt taste that bad. i couldn't tell you whether its good wine or not.
In college we had "The Wine Game" where people would sit in a circle and drink from pic related one at a time and pass it along. Whoever finished it got to smash the bottle
THERE'S NO SIPPING IN THE WINE GAME was a common exclamation
fuck yea i like wine
nah. i prefer grapes.

Hey /ck/, pizza addict here. Is this place as bad as everyone says? I've never had it but heard it's really cheap and am considering giving it a try. Would you recommend this or should I just stick to dominos? How big is the price difference in comparison to quality and quantity disparity?
it lacks a bit in flavor but it's pretty alright

Detroiter here. Home of Little Caesars. If you like Little Caesars, try anything else. It will be better.
>>8260651
NO ITS NOT. YOU HAVE TO CONSIDER THE BASIC PIZZA IS 5 DOLLARS. THATS CHEAPER THAN SHITTY FROZEN PIZZAS A THE STORE. THE DEEP DISH IS 8 BUCKS AND ITS WORTH IT. IS VERY TASTY.

So does anyone have a guide for making take out restaurant style chinese food at home? It seems like every youtube video I look at is extremely out of date and isn't the right style in the first place.
I just want some decent fried rice and sesame chicken I can make at home without it being god awful pseudo food.

i just usually play with the search function on youtube and am able to find videos uploaded within the last year. make sure youre also typing in the correct search terms. If you have auto correct that also helps, sometimes the chinese words are hard

>does anyone have a guide for making take out restaurant style chinese food at home?
What would possibly be the point of this? No one has wok burners that hot in their home kitchens, and most folks don't have deep fryers. You simply cannot do it if you don't have the right equipment. It's like trying to make espresso or brick oven pizza at home with a Mr Coffee or an electric oven. It requires gear most folks don't have access to at home.
Why don't you eat at Arby's anon?
Why don't you gentlemen have a Pepsi
But I do.
There isn't really one close by though.
I like Arbys
