Look, faggot, I've had to listen to that fucking awful warped one hour version every fucking day because my teenager and his friends think it's hilarious. I can't stand to even look at that fucking face. Every day, as I walk around the house upstairs I have to hear "WHAT ARE YOU DOING" "THROW IT AT HIM NOT ME" while my son and his friends laugh like lunatics.
I....FUCKING.....HATE IT AND WANT IT TO DIE.

i'm thinking of dropping out of university and try getting an apprenticeship in fine dining
would london be a good place to move to if this is what i want to do?
is this a bad idea?
anyone who was in my situation?

My girlfriend applied to the Tante Marie school, it seemed like it wasn't that hard to get in. I'd definitely recommend looking up a few different places before just moving somewhere
>>
Why do you want to go into it? Because I will promise you it is not the life you expect

Culinary is not a matter of apprenticeship. It is a matter of YOU, and your ability to progress. No renowned chef will take you in unless you have exprience. I doubt you have any knife skills, or know really anything. Everyone thinks it won't be hard, but it is fucking brutal my friend. And you can go to culinary school, and you'll come out with the knowledge, but still very little skills. You might think you are skilled because you went to culinary school, but the second you step into that kitchen you'll realize how out of your league you are. A kitchen is a well oiled machine, in every aspect, and a business; taking you in has no benefit to them.

Progression in this industry is typically moving to a new business, here is a typical progression (assuming you can keep up and get good)
>Corporate prep (probably even dish before that)
>Corporate line
>lower ranking privately owned restraunt, prep
>Privately owned line
>Progress through ranking of the privately owned restraunts
>Make way to finer cuisine
>Slowly grind upwards

The culinary industry holds no shortcuts. You're going to have to fucking grind for it, and you can go to culinary school in there (I did to get a stronger resume) but you will be pulling about 100hrs a week easily.

Many people expect something entirely different when entering this industry and it ends up destroying them because they get stuck. Make an informed decision. If you know what it is actually like, then test it out. But do not jump blindly, especially into this field.

London has has top restaurants of every type of cuisine under the sun.

But please remember this: Despite what college you went to , it's best you understand that you will still get the best experience stating at the bottom.

Do you honestly think that Marco Pierre White learned to chop onions at college?

Top chefs can pretty much do basic veg-prep blindfold, there is a reason for this and despite a yearning for top-tier status, you have to know the basics like the back of your hand.

To put it simply . . .you will never be top unless you know bottom.

Help me become vegan /ck/. What are some good starter recipes? I am tired of being addicted to meat and dairy products.

Looking for recipes that are high in the taste department, mainly because meat and dairy have that sway over me. But I want to get past the taste and move on. And I don't want to be the type that eats chips and oreos and call myself vegan.

Check for some curry recipes. There are loads of them for vegans and full of flavour.
If this doesn't help you, eat a dick.

I've had curry maybe a couple times in my life and it tasted like Indian shit fingers made it. I live in Fly Over Land, very rural area where curry ingredients are even hard to find, let alone not having any restaurants that have them. You'll have to be more specific.

When you go to somebody's Thanksgiving dinner and bring a dish do you like to cook it at home first or do you bring the stuff you need and cook it at the hosts house? Because I think precooking at home is for armature faggots. I always show up to whoever's house I'm invited to that year with a big bag full of fresh ingredients for whatever I'm making then before it's time to eat I take over the entire kitchen to prepare my star dish so that it is done the exact moment Thanksgiving dinner is served. The true peak of freshness.

I don't know but when I arrive there are always a lot of trays of sweet potatoes
>>
>>8299472
I'd cook it at home. From experience I'd say people never have the utensils you need to cook decent food when you go to their houses.
>>
>>8299676

If you're bringing ingredients then why not bring utensils too?

What is the best vegetable and why is it the humble sweet potato? You can do anything to them and they're almost impossible to ruin, and taste fantastic all the time.

The only time I've ever had a bad one is in a cafe in England, I ordered SP croquettes and they were garbage. But literally every other time, be it fries, mash, baked, roasted curried, in soup etc they are always great.

I think they're energy dense and easy to grow, probably the best in terms of that, really helps out the 3rd world. I won't lie, cook them in my pressure cooker, and they're nice and soft, so tasty. They only take 18minutes or so to cook under pressure.

You don't need a pressure cooker for sweet potatoes... A pot with a bit water to steam them.. add ginger and chilli

I forgot to refrigerate my bottle of fish sauce and instead kept it in a cupboard. Can I still use? Shouldn't the saltiness scare away any bacteria?

>>8303366
you dont need to keep it in a fridge, its shelfstable for ages
>>
>>8303366
I've never refrigerated it and I buy fairly large bottles that might take 6 months to use up. I eat it in uncooked dipping sauces, as well. I think it will keep indefinitely.

It's fermented fish made in Clay pots left in the sun for fuck sake, consumed by countries that still don't have a refrigerator in the majority of households. You'll live.

What are some interesting variations of deviled eggs?

Any tips on making them stand out?

A local restaurant near me has an all you can eat soup bar. I usually just have a bowl of soup before my entree and as I was waiting to get my soup, two older men were in front of me at the soup bar. The one guy was telling the other guy about a fantastic sea cruise he just got done with and said cruises are the way to vacation. As this guy started getting his soup, the other guy turns to me and says, "Cruises are really the best way to take a vacation. You should really consider it." Now I don't mind small talk at the soup bar but does this man really have the right to tell me how I should enjoy my vacation? That's kind of a personal decision. I think restaurants should post what conversation topics are allowed at the soup (and salad) bars. It really isn't the place to be telling other people what to do with their free time.

What is the best pot to fry in?
I'm making fried shrimp for tomorrow so I'm looking to buy a pot that is capable of handling the high heat
Should I pick cast iron?
9 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>8302929

Cast iron is a good choice since it'll retain heat very well. Just go with that.
>>
>>8302929

Enamel. Steel if you can get it, meme iron just adds useless weight. Burgers love their meme iron though, so it might be hard.
>>
just get anything that says microwavable bro.
