I forgot to refrigerate my bottle of fish sauce and instead kept it in a cupboard. Can I still use? Shouldn't the saltiness scare away any bacteria?

you dont need to keep it in a fridge, its shelfstable for ages

I've never refrigerated it and I buy fairly large bottles that might take 6 months to use up. I eat it in uncooked dipping sauces, as well. I think it will keep indefinitely.

It's fermented fish made in Clay pots left in the sun for fuck sake, consumed by countries that still don't have a refrigerator in the majority of households. You'll live.
I had one in the cupboard for about 6 years. The salt precipitated out into huge chunks; it tasted normal, but I got scared of the salt crystals and threw it out. I regret that i had done that.
