For my 21st birthday I'm going to have dinner at the Ritz with my family.
I don't really know much about food. What should I order for the maximal culinary experience?
Just do the 6 course surprise menu if everyone else is up for it. Looked up some of the other menus but I'm not really sure why you'd want to go there other than its name. Paying 50 dollars for a basic as fuck breakfast doesn't seem like the way to go.

this. always let the chef decide
They don't let you in if you're wearing adidas sambas.
thank you /ck/!
it was one of you cu/ck/s who suggested this to me and i am so very grateful. a meal has become so easy because of this and fucking delicious too.
lunch today was cauliflower, tofu, bok-choy, celery cooked solely using pic related. i had it with some rice i had already made. fucking delicious.
now to learn making the chili sauce by myself
>>8306667
they always pick the worst picture to put on those sauces
>>8306680
meh..just trivialities. i like her sauce, i want to get rid of the msg and all the preservative crap in it.
>>8306667
I had to stop eating this when I found out it contains beef rennet.
Shame.
something about this cheesesteak makes my dick hard.
what do you order on your cheesesteak?
Swiss cheese
Provolone cheese, fried onions and some hot sauce
theres a place by me that does the best cheesteak I can get within a 2 hour radius and they do one that has steak, grilled onions, mushrooms, bacon, cheese and mayo on the bread
its fucking amazing and only cost 3 bucks
I'd hump someones leg for that right now
Come cook pesto pasta and perogie if you want some fuckin starch in your life. Comin off a bender so need something good.
monitoring
>>8305156
Throwing some onions/garlic/yelloe pepper to mix with the perogies and pasta. Gonna mix pesto in separate.
Not worried about timing with water. This is why mesh colanders are nice. Scoop what you want
>>8305156
I used to fucking love perogies. I got some shit microwave ones and as I was walking home from the store I just suddenly got sick. Went home, put my groceries away and immediately had to go throw up. I was already hungry before that so after throwing up breakfast I was still hungry. I tried to eat my perogies and threw up again after that. I ended up puking 13 times in one day before begging my friend to take me to a hospital where they could only tell me I was dehydrated. I even tried drinking water but that was coming up as well. I ended up shitting myself at the hospital on my way back from a bathroom because I was so out of it, I thought I was done but then had to go back and clean myself up.
My friend took me home that same night where I was advised to try and drink water as slow as possible to rehydrate myself.
I can't eat perogies now. They didn't even make me sick but just looking at them makes me feel ill.
these suck cock

I'm making a turkey this thanksgiving. It seems that roasting at 500 degrees, whether its at the start or all the way through, is the supreme way of roasting a turkey. Brining is a must. A meat probe thermometer is the best, but an instant read can work well.
>protip: resting bags of ice on your turkey's breast will make it cook better.

and Ruhlman's bake n' braise method. http://ruhlman.com/2011/11/roasted-braised-turkey-recipe/
I've yet to do Pepin's method, but Ruhlmans braise method makes sense if your breasts are done but your dark meat is still tough. IE you have a really big bird.
>>8303259
i dont see the benefit in braising such a lean meat
>you just gotta feel it man!
why is this allowed? I don't wanna stick a fork in a potato, I don't even trust myself that much.
Just tell me the exact dimensions I should cult my potato, the exact time they should boil, and so on. fuck off with all that other shit, I'm willing to get out my ruler
>>8302979
Or you could just Get Good™
look motherfucker, you don't talk about the potato cult online
>>8302979
>why is this allowed?
Because it's simpler than the alternative.
Pre-calcuating everything would require a massive amount of information: your elevation. the moisture content of the potato. the age of the potato. the type of potato. and so on.
It's easier just to test doneness with a fork, skewer, knife tip, etc.
Have you preregistered yet /ck/?
I'm actually thinking about it. I know he gets shit on a lot around here but I think it would be an interesting thing to take part in.
Also, if you don't know what I'm talking about, Gordon is doing a 15 part (I think) cooking class for 99 shekels.

Cozy /ck/ Thanksgiving Thread?
>what are you doing on Thanksgiving? How far are you traveling, if at all?

Come get cozy with me, bros.
self bump answering my own questions
>what are you doing on Thanksgiving? How far are you traveling, if at all?
Parents just built a new house out in the country on some acreage. Wife and I are heading down on Tuesday and staying until Friday. Her parents are coming down Wednesday. It's about 2 hours of a drive for us.
>what kind of menu items are staples at your family's Thanksgiving? What are your favorites now but used to hate as a kid? What dish are you looking forward to the most?
Mostly regular stuff - usually a baked turkey, a smoked wild turkey, and a fried turkey. usually a ham, some smoked venison tenderloin, maybe some duck, pheasant, etc. Lots of casseroles brought by family, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, green beans, tons of pies and shit. For me, I can't fucking wait for the mashed potatoes and gravy with the turkey, the stuffing, the mac and cheese, and all the other shit. I fucking love Thanksgiving.
>are you worried about having to talk about politics or hearing about the election with family members?
Nah not really. My family is mostly conservative with a few fringe liberals mixed in but Thanksgiving is more about seeing each other, food, and football than trying to argue like we're on Facebook.

Rate my Thanksgiving plate /ck/?

unidentifiable mess/10
Looks like my sons shit after his first thanksgiving.
Can you label your plate? I'm very curious what most of that is. I see turkey, and creamed corn I think, but other than that I don't know.
On its surface, The McPick 2 looks like something out of a 40's era romance film!
Two options for two dollars, it hardens back to a simpler time.
Now, thanks to diversity regulations and the morality police, deals like the McPick 2 are almost extinct.
>three crucial Mozza sticks with pepper sauce
>small fries
>delicate sandwich offerings (available without lettuce)
>based beverage choices
I want America to go back to these types of deals. Why don't they? Is it the SJW's??
My suggestion is we all head on down to McDonalds tonight, order a McPick 2 and say thank you. You never know when deals like this will go away.
>>8307384
[Mcshilling intensifies]
The McPick 2 for $2 thing disappeared forever ago. Are you saying it's back instead of the shitty $5 variant.
>>8307384

Why does Instant cup ramen tastes so good?
i'm having cravings for this stuff... and why do autists here seem to hate it so much?
Certainly, these foods has a bad influence for the gastronomic culture. However, the modern people's lives are not in ancient times. And, modern people in Japan will dislike ancient food, because favorite taste is diffrence to old times. The taste is very delicious though the instant noodle can be easily made very much. We are alive in new gastronomic culture.
It tastes good because it's a salt bomb.
People hate it because it's a salt bomb.
>Was drinking just the broth + broccoli, carrot, chilli as a cutting diet
>The shops ran out of it
>Fat now
i use bacon in my "main" thanksgiving dish and decided to make my own slab this year. you jelly? it's okay to be jelly.
>>8306716
>you jelly? it's okay to be jelly.
That doesn't even make sense, nothing would stop them from doing the same if that's what they decided
>>8306716
For the last 3 years I've only made my own from whole pork bellys. Make american style canadian bacon from pork loin too.
>>8306718
yeah except the part where they have to wait a whole fucking year to have homemade bacon for thanksgiving
too late to cure a slab now!
