I know cast iron is the hottest new meme right now, but you have to remind yourself that it's been around for a long time.
There's not a lot of things you can buy these days that get better as you use them. It will last a lifetime, and even if you abuse it, there are blogs about how to restore them with various methods. I like the electrolysis method best.
Is a crock pot worth it or just a meme?
>>8388302
Are you a fucking retard?
Crock pots are just a way of cooking
Electronic crock pots are a meme, you'll literally use it a handful of times then it'll just take up space. Keep it simple.
>>8388311
I was thinking of the model with a self-mixing function for long ass chili
>Went to restaurant
>wine menu
>$50 for a $10 bottle of wine
Are you insane?
>>8388264
First time paying?
>>8388264
>60 cent beer costs 3.50
Why is this normal but not the wine?
Not that I'm defending price gouging, but the mark up on all products is huge, you are only noticing the wine because it is a noticeable amount.
Yeah OP! Who do the restaurant owners think they are. trying to earn a profit? Filthy capitalist.
What are some cooking themed gifts which you would be genuinely happy to receive for Christmas?
My sister is really into cooking but she seems to have most things I consider good gift ideas.
Pyrex shit
A nice cutting board
Useful unitaskers, like a garlic press
>>8388190
imho dog treats
>>8388193
She's got all three if those.
Any other unitaskers aside from garlic press which people have really useful and hard to imagine cooking without them now?
>mfw I have guests over and they don't use the fucking cutting board and gets blade marks in my counter
>>8387807
Use them as a chopping board for such disrespect
>>8387809
I will. Nobody fucks with my shit like that.
>>8387807
Are you implying that they just throw food directly on the counter and cut it there?

>eating more than 3 eggs a week
are you fuckers not concerned about your health?
i have 2 eggs for breakfast mon-fri
i don't see what the problem is
Why would one be worried?
The cholesterol increasing qualities are probably way overstated. They don't have all that much saturated fat. The human body can accept heaps of animal protein without ill effects.
I read somewhere that eggs can increase the likelihood of kidney stones but I have not seen this corroborated
How much does a loaf of bread cost in your city, /ck/?
>>8386988
$2 for the grocery store bakery bread
$4-6 for the branded stuff or a nice loaf from a real bakery
cdn dollars so not real monies tho
>>8386988
>sudbury
>more than a nickel
Calling bullshit on that son
$1 in many cases. There are a couple acceptable store brands for that plus there's a bakery outlet. 3/$1 a lot of times for day old that's not even stale.
>"gravy"
I hate Philadelphians so god damn much.
>chili "sauce"
>>8386752
even don delillo calls it gravy
we don't care about you
Wait, there are actually people that call tomato sauce gravy? Why?
>there are people in this world who dump mom-cow-tit-juice into perfectly good coffee, destroying it.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank you for your valuable contributions to this board.
>>8386050
well thanks chumb, I honestly do my best.
>>8386050
In my several minutes on this board, I first came to this thread. It was at that moment that I instantly knew, in the history of this board, that there is not and will never be a higher quality thread than what see before you.
what are some good MREs
>>8385131
Lithuanian ones are cheap and good. Can't go wrong with the French RCIR. Haven't had many modern American MREs tho
I'm sure FREs are great for actual soldiers n shit but something about dry alc and a little stove is just wonderful. Plus being able to at least have some level of control over the heat so I can cook food instead of just warming it up is nice.
Anyway my favorites are the eastern european MREs. They're usually really hearty and basic stuff. Ya get crackers, ya get some jam, ya get (usually) a meaty and starchy main.
If I had to live off of rations though, jap self defense force MREs are top tier. They have really high quality FREs that actually cook shit and can boil water if you've got just water in there, usually a really good serving of rice, and fruit flavored rock candy. Plus meat and whatever else. Usually crackers/biscuits.
Old ones

Thoughts on this hipster shit?
Useless decorative tier item. Would not buy.
>>8379502
Less durable than a simple steel knife, and the one legitimate advantage, lower weight, isn't actually something I want in a knife. I like me some heft.
Maybe if you're a prep cook in a hipster restaurant?
>carbon steel
Patina, patina everywhere
Would it be wrong of me to order delivery pizza today?
No. That's why they're paid
>>8378948

DEJA VU, I have been in this place before.
