>looking up some fun new recipes online
>find something you really want to make

>some of them are almost impossible to get where you live
you just realize that means you need to move, right?
>>8475413
I need suet for some things, I don't have any butchers near me, and I don't live in Europe/The UK. That doesn't necesarrily mean I need to move, does it?
Do I really need to move to Europe?
>>8475444
Where the hell do you live that a butcher isn't local to you?
Why does everyone act like they're so sorry that I'm lactose intolerant and that I'm missing out in life? If I could eat dairy every day, I'd get fat as shit. Is dairy really all its cracked up too be?
>>8475234
>that I'm missing out in life?
Because you literally are. There's a wide group of foods that you can't eat.
>>Is dairy really all its cracked up too be?
Like any other class of food some of it is shit and some of it is fucking amazing.
But it's not so much that dairy itself is anything special; it's more like there is a massive amount of food that you can't have. It's about the limitation in general. We'd say the same thing if someone said "they can't eat meat", or "can't eat fruit" or any other wide class of foods.
>>8475234
>If I could eat dairy every day, I'd get fat as shit.
That's not true at all. Plenty of people eat dairy everyday and stay /fit/ or /skeleton/ as fuck. You are missing out, but don't lose sleep over something you can't control.
>>8475234
>is dairy really all it's cracked up to be?
Yes it is. I'm sorry your weak ass genes are robbing you of queso flameado

Is there a rule of thumb for how much bones weigh in chicken thighs or leg quarters? Let's say I want to eat 1lb of chicken meat per day. Should I buy 2lb of chicken thighs with bones because half the weight is bones? Or should I buy 1.5lb? I'm using a scale to weigh my food and I don't want to buy more than I'm going to use.
>>8474073
Forgot to mention, I will NOT be using the bones for stock. But boneless thighs cost way more than bone-in thighs
>>8474075
Then get them when they're on special your retarded fuck. Alternatively do it yourself by removing some bones weighing them in comparison and extrapolating from that.
>>8474077
>Alternatively do it yourself by removing some bones weighing them in comparison and extrapolating from that
That's the point of asking. I know people on /ck/ have probably done this already. Especially because they are autistic about making chicken stock from bones
Would you ever a chef's knife just because it was pretty?
No because I get far more enjoyment being a contrarian against that sort of thing.
A knife being "pretty" is weird, though. If an ugly knife is still an extremely good knife, doesn't its ugliness become attractive? If it's physically deformed it's just a shitty tool, period. Otherwise, I don't see how you can make it ugly without betraying the naturally beneficial sleekness of most knives.
>>8474065
No but I would not use (own) a knife if it was very ugly. Also you accidentally a word in there buddy.
I like cabernet sauvingnon and riesling. I dont know squat about wine. What other types would I like?

I don't feel like going through all my data again to post it, but in summary plant protein causes more types of cancer than animal protein does, fish protein is the only protein that reduces cancer risk, wheat protein increases cancer risk by like 70%
>>8473165
So basically food in general causes cancer aside from fish. If that's true then why do the Japanese die so often from stomach cancer?
>>8473201
It's not the protein they eat, but the mercury and toxins in the fish they eat. The Japanese eat a lot of predatory, large fish like Tuna which suffer a lot from bioaccumulation of toxins.
Tell me the perfect method for making boiled eggs and for making poached eggs NOW you fucking losers.

Do people drink vermouth straight?
I need some for cooking, but only like 1/3 of a cup. What do you do with the rest of the bottle?
>>8472242
Manhattans are a great cocktail and vermouth makes appearances in sauces. Good to have in general for a home bar
Do you have any friends?
None? really?
Maybe you could ask an enemy. You only need a few ounces. At least vermouth is cheap.
I too would like some ideas for what to do with extra vermouth. Used it for a couple recipes in sauces already, drank a small amount straight and didn't enjoy it much.
White sauce? Hot sauce?
>>8470673
I hate the term "white sauce" without any context being provided. It can mean so many different things depending on what kind of food we're talking about.
It's called red sauce, not "hot" sauce

garlic sauce mister arab
Where does your country source it's supplies of garlic?
In Australia we do grow it but it only seems to be available a few months a year and is more expensive than imports.
We pretty much have 2 options, the cheap shit from China that's grown in chemicals that are banned and could make you sick, or Spanish garlic. Occasionally we get Mexican garlic here too but not too often.
I know California grows a lot of garlic for America but what about other cunts, where does yours come from?
This is the reason btw, it looks like everyone was buying the Chinese shit for many years until they realised how bad it was and went back to demanding a local product.
The Australian Garlic Industry Association (AGIA) is proud to announce the launch of the 2015-2016 garlic season. The Australian Garlic Industry is a re-emerging sector in Australian agriculture. It was all but destroyed in the 90s by the import of cheap Chinese garlic with the majority of farmers either leaving agriculture or moving into other crops. The last five years has seen a resurgence in the number of garlic growers and Australian growers are now producing 17% of our domestic supply.

spanish here, really nice garlics from local store
Plant your own.
I know it takes a while (at least five months from planted, sprouting clove to usable, pungent head of garlic), but it's infinitely renewable, easy to care for and easy to harvest (they're planted just barely under the soil line). It is, perhaps, the easiest veg to harvest and regrow in the world. There is no reason it should be expensive anywhere.
I apologise that this doesn't answer your question, but you really ought to look into growing it yourself if prices are really as bad as you say in Aussieland.
Using sauces is degenerate.
You're defacing someone's work with disgusting continents, and showing you don't like their food, and want to eat something that tastes different.
It's rude.
