Do people drink vermouth straight?
I need some for cooking, but only like 1/3 of a cup. What do you do with the rest of the bottle?

Manhattans are a great cocktail and vermouth makes appearances in sauces. Good to have in general for a home bar
Do you have any friends?
None? really?
Maybe you could ask an enemy. You only need a few ounces. At least vermouth is cheap.
I too would like some ideas for what to do with extra vermouth. Used it for a couple recipes in sauces already, drank a small amount straight and didn't enjoy it much.

it's shelf stable. Use it for more cooking. I use a little (1/4cup) every time I make a pan sauce.
add plymouth gin, throw in an olive, you have a martini
Buy a bottle of gin (Boodles), and some nice olives (Don't buy jarred/in oil). I guarantee it will take care of its self.

Hendrick's gin, Tribuno dry vermouth, Polar diet lime tonic water.
Trifecta perfection.
Keep it in the fridge. It won't go bad as quickly as unfortified wine but it has a definite shelf-life.

Carpano Antica on the rocks with an orange twist.
Sweet, earthy and oily.
But you rightly bought low grade for cooking. Save the rest or maybe make a small martini.

Add some to a gin and tonic, tastes really good. You can also just add it to the gin and sip away.
I try to keep some around, it isn't expensive

I just add some orange juice for Bianco and apple juice for Roso.
I link to drink it straight, i find it pretty flavorful. Just add some lemon or orange, depending if it's hite or red martini. Dry is good for cocktail.
