chinas xiaomi product (apple knockoff) will become an IPO in 2017 and that is when we will sell sell sell

Are you retarded? How the fuck are you going to sell something you don't own? The only thing you can do is buy buy buy come IPO time
>>
>>1225395
im talking about selling apple stocks if you own it because xiaomis product has global sales and they didn't even want to become public for the first four years because they were already making too much money
>>
>>1225397
Oh. In that case, you're right. For the time being, however, it's actually a very good time to buy AAPL. It's almost at a 52 week low. I might buy tomorrow

How bad am I screwing myself over by not having a linkedin? I go to a trade school and just found out nearly all my classmates have one. Isn't it mainly intended for white collar professionals?

>Make a linkedin
>Get about 250 contacts and a few recommendations
>99% of the shit I get on their is from the same 7 recruiters spamming me about the latest "ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY" at the other side of the country that pays $45k/yr
>Current company keeps pressuring me to shill their latest marketing effort on there

Not really worth it I think.

Office drones and bankers. It's like facebook, but 'professional' and for 'networking'.

If you're learning a trade, you don't need it.

Kek, perfect description right there

The average feed looks like this:
>"My company just hired new people, LOOK"
>Ad for online MBA
>"It's my last day at company X. I learned a lot and made some great colleagues. Looking forward to new challenges with company Y."(10 identical replies congratulating him)
>Some faggot likes some clickbait shit - 7 stunning secrets to success
>"It's my last day at company X...."
>Ad for online MBA
>Ad for clickbait shit
>"I copy pasted a clickbait article into a pdf file and called it an e-book. Reply with your email to get a free e-book" - 8492 replies and 10293 likes
>Some faggot liking some irrelevant update about his company
>Ad for online MBA

It's essentially as useless as facebook, only even less entertaining because you literally don't give a shit about anything people post there. The only people who will contact you through linkedin are shit-tier recruiters or people looking for a job. The only people who benefit from LinkedIn are the online marketers who get 10k valid emails per 'ebook'.

why do 2MM homes almost always look better than 10MM + homes?

Because you are the kind of person who can only imagine owning one house, and thus calls all houses "homes"?

I actually own 15 rental properties. referring to a house is fine when it isn't yours. Calling something you live in a house is degenerate behavior. Home is the appropriate term. can you answer my question

I've done the research and am still a bit confused. What are the advantages/disadvantages regarding

ETFs vs. Mutual Funds ?
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
ETFs can be traded like a stock, and its only composed of stocks. Mutul funds are just pools of different investments, that are made by some investment bank.

ETFs usually have lower expense ratios than funds.

Hey /biz/, I have an idea of what I want to do as a career, but I can't seem to find any resources about (or even the name of) the particular career path.

I am interested in film restoration and physical media.

For example
When a film is to be released on bluray for the first time, it is scanned into a computer and painstakingly touched up to remove dirt and discoloration.

Does anyone here have any experience in this field or have any advice or resources to link to me? This is really interesting to me and i'd love to pursue this career path, but I do want to know if it is unrealistic.

>>
I suspect that the field is in incredibly low demand. I think when they release HD versions of movies, they don't need to do anything most of the time. The original master is incredibly high quality, unless it was damaged. I can't imagine that studios let their shit get damaged with any degree of frequency.
>>
>>1225128
I actually just read about it, and in fact studios did NOT bother to properly store most of their stuff. The more you know, I guess.
>>
>>1225128

80% of films made before 1929 are lost

50% of talkies made before 1950 are lost

Film is a VERY fragile medium, digital (modern) film archival/restoration is a different beast altogether

You may be right about it being low demand, I don't even have a place to look into it

How do you quit a job /biz/? Do you put them on a resume if it was less than 2 months?

>How can you leave that won't cause your employer to ho out of their way to make sure you dont get a new job?

They won't bro.

>Or with old your paycheck?

This is illegal. Even if they hate your fucking guts they'll give you your paycheck. It's not worth the trouble to them.

Source: I got fired the same day as I got hired and I got my paycheck perfectly fine.

>>1225019
No shit dude. Are you young or just autistic?

Call them and say you want to put in your two weeks notice. That way they'll actually be able to make arrangements to replace you instead of them needing a cashier on isle 3 at 9 am and he's just not fucking there

hey /biz/, I need some advice or opinions.

I am interested in buying apartment, but I am not sure whether the price is too low/high. There are no other identical apartments on sale in the area, so there is no way to compare. All I know is that the price, right after financial crisis, was at least 25-30% lower than current price and the ad is on for ~90 days (no one interested?). The price for m2 is relatively high and the RE taxes are higher 40-50% than in other districts, because the apartment is in a really good location, 10 mins. to the downtown.

I feel like it could be a good investment, because I could rent out the apartment easily and the price could go up in future. Do you have any hints what factors I should take into consideration? Anything would be useful.

is there a website where i can learn the basics about buying and selling stocks and gradually progress (like an ABC's of investing book or something) because i usually have nothing better to do that sit on my laptop and watch prices fluctuate. I could also get a mutual fund but i am wondering how could i get started doing that also? pic unrelated

>>
>>1224891
You'll learn nothing from stocks if you buy a mutual fund, buy an etf if you really want. Just set up a practice account with your bank, it's pretty straightforward.
>>
>1223907
ill try and see if my bank will allow me to do that, would you recommend just trading on google with like $50?
>>
>>1224911
Set up a paper account. You can't buy Google for $50, as their class A shares trade for $700+ per share

Are gaps in a resume bad /biz/? I haven't had a job since august of last year. I got hired at Sam's club on march 15th or so and I absolutely hate it and wanna find a new job but I figured since I have only worked there a month and a half I wouldn't bother putting it on my resume. Plus my resume looks really good as it is imo. What should I do? Should I quit and not put on a resume or should I just wait it out? I want to kill myself everyday I go btw. I work in the kitchen and the management is terrible.
