Hey /biz/ I'm that guy that everyone thinks is a super techy miracle wizard because I built my own gaming rig and fixed their internet that one time, got a proposition from a friend who wants me to build a home theater system with a flat screen, an amp and 3x 10 inch speakers minimum of 500 watts for $700, but using my "great resources" even with a decent size 1080p TV it takes more than half his budget and newegg has speakers like this for half off right now, is this even feasible?

>I have no experience building a home theater system and was planning on googling everything beforehand.

Had to do a debate in business class in Chicago tonight on whether or not we should put salary caps on CEOs or not.

>forced to be the leader of the team debating that we should have salary/bonus caps on CEOs
>clarify that my real position is that we shouldn't have bonuses, and that CEOs can do whatever the fuck they want
>told the class that if you don't like it, go start your own business and stop whining.
>triggered entire class
>girl looked like she was going to cry
>professor's eyes pop open wide and he looked like he was going to yell at me, but stopped
>kinda feel bad
>do the debate
>purposely make my side lose, because suck my dick liberal faggots
>the debate team who is against putting a salary/bonus cap on CEOs wins after explaining that if the CEO's bonus were distrubted among all of the employees, their hourly wage wouldn't even raise by $1.00
>I declare my team losers and chuckle at them

What's your opinion? Should CEOs have salary/bonus limits?

Of course not. A CEO is paid what he's worth. A company exists for the sole reason of making money. The board of directors would not be paying a CEO $100 million if he was not adding > $100 million worth of value to the company.
>>
>>1670992
OP here

I meant to say that my position is that a CEO's salary should not be capped, and the entire class got triggered. I fucking hate Chicago.

Is wanting a cap on CEO's bonuses a liberal stance or something? Holy fuck, I didn't even know this was a thing that people were campaigning for.

The rest of the country cannot be this cucked.

Trickle down economics
-give money to the wealthy
-the wealthy spend money and create jobs
-this stimulates the economy.
-the middle class benefits.
Note the income gap is increasing and the middle class is shrinking

Trickle up economics?
-give more Money to the poor and middle class
-they are prone to spending and accumulating liabilities
-the money eventually goes to the wealthy businesses

I have a nominal grasp of economics. Am I delusional?
Could trickle up economics work?

Look up concept on graph and why you don't tax at the highest tic. You tax halfway down from the highest tic because anything higher you start to shit on growth, which is much more effective than even the highest point with the most revenue, because eventually the pie will grow anyways and your smaller piece will be greater on a larger pie even if you had 1/4 of the entire small pie.

Think of it like this. In regulated economies, everyone has $1000, and the wealth is fairly even throughout. However, Capitalism (Trickle-Down) is historically the most uneven, but the most profitable system known. Even if the 1% (who are probably smarter and more talented than everyone else and can do things you never will be able to) owns 50+%, the pie is still fucking enormous compared to a trickle-up. This has been proven over and over again, especially since I don't think it's a wrong statement to say that the government knows how to run a business better than the people who invest their entire lives and brainpower into a business. Aside from the fact that a business owner is more equipped to run a good business instead the government, historically and even the Greeks knew this, that regulated and highly taxed societies with social programs and "free money" only end up being able to be exploited for political power (think dems and free shit. It's unarguable that the biggest beneficiaries of social programs and free shit have an insane amount of support for the Democratic Party).
>>
>>1670950
By the way, yes that format is actually more efficient, but ask yourself if it's normal behavior for slightly or largely sociopathic and or antisocial 1%ers to run a society or business for you with no reward. These people and all people really need a dopamine payoff, and Capitalism makes sure that your absolute worst yet highly skilled people are paid the big bucks so they end up running businesses and plugging numbers all day long instead of killing and raping people for fun. You'd be surprised how truly insane smart people are. You really can't have empathy and rationale in the same levels and still be on an extreme. You're either rational yet a psycho, or emotional and an idiot. Your brain is structured a certain way and you'd be surprised to see the brain of people in power.
>>
Wouldn't trickle down be predicated on the idea that the 1% are creating opportunities nationally instead of taking their shit to China?

Brainstorm time, /biz/arros.

Let's come up with as many ideas for a side business as we can to help each other out.

Maybe anyone gets inspired to "start up".

I'll reply with as much as I can spontaneously come up with.

I have one month to get a job. Where should I work? There are restaurants, banks, oil, gas station and grocery are the first things that come to mind. I don't have an education other than high school and some college. Btw, I live in houston, tx
Thanks!

Retail sucks so don't do that.

Samething with Restaurants unless you either love cooking, or are a dishwasher/waiter

Gas Stations tend to have "flexible" hours, and the 24/7 ones get robbed pretty frequently, but it's an easy, abit lonely job at times.

Bank is the best out of jobs you mentioned. try for a bank, but they mostly hired women because people like starting at pretty faces.

when to do ROTH over traditional IRA contribution:
>your income is low enough to put you in a low tax bracket and your 401k, if you have it, is complete shit and there's no match; if there is a match max that out first
>your income is high enough to not qualify for traditional IRA tax deduction if you already have an employer 401k ($61k AFTER 401k deduction so up to $79k annual income), but still low enough to be below the ROTH IRA income limit

>get job at Leo Burnett
>office is packed with super attractive girls with "communications" degree
>they're all dumb as fuck and spend too much time arguing over where we should cater lunch from
>have no clue what half of them actually do for the company besides being eye candy
>they almost never last for much more than a year
>all have dumb titles like "digital strategist" or "content manager" or fuck all
>company still takes in huge amounts of money

How does this work? Is it all just for image? I'm friends with a few that I know are actually smart and work hard, but most of them just skate by on their good looks doing fuck all. Does anyone else work in a similar environment?

In my experience, a lot of corporate offices, depending on the industry, tend to be full of loads of cute girls who never last much more than a year. What is the motive behind this?

So had sit down with my father earlier today going over his life insurance and he told me I am going to be left $300,000. He doesn't want any kind of fancy funeral, he just wants to be cremated in the cheapest way possible and I can do whatever I want with the rest of the money,

My question is what's the best course of action once I have that type of money? I'm thinking of paying debts and buying a house but not sure. I was also thinking of just taking $50k and putting it in an emergency fund just so I have it. I also wanna splurge something but not sure what the safest amount to have as "Throw away money"

Basically I'm going to be getting at least 300k at some point, whats the best course of action?

>Client buying us lunch

help me /biz/, i've never done this before.

My team of 4 just finished an IT project for a client on behalf of some board. He's buying us lunch in a few days. He said we can go wherever we wanted so I joked about going to the priciest place in the city and it didn't even phase him. I was making a joke and he was genuinely considering it. I need to ask, should we be milking this guy, going to the most costly steakhouse and ordering one of everything with champagne to boot? or should you be modest? how modest is too modest? would he be insulted if we went to a lower-end place?

The only reason I'm asking this, is because on a few occasions he's also gotten us coffee, and seemed annoyed that we always get it from Tim's (shitty low-class canadian coffee). When someone buys me lunch, I make sure we go to a low-end place and I order a cheap meal. But in this case it's coming from someone who lives in a totally different world.

TL;DR: How do I know what kind of place to eat at and know what type of food is acceptable to order?

First off i wouldnt make a joke like that. The fact you think going to a nice place is so unreasonable it can be considered funny just makes you look like a pleb.

He should have invited you someplace.

Just go to a higher end chain place. Why ruin a potentially beneficial contact trying to milk him out of a lunch.

I'm suicidal how can I use this to society's advantage?

I've made up my mind and I want to kill myself. I think it would be a waste just to hang myself. If I'm going to die anyway, what is the maximum good that I can do for society? Here's the ideas I had so far:

1) Take out a bunch of debt, every single penny I can get my hands on and make a cash donation to a charity.

2) Become an incredibly outspoken activist, speak out against pizzagate and the clinton murders, wait for (((them))) to assassinate me. I'll need to keep a poison pill with me at all times so they can't torture me.

What should I do?
