I have $152K in my savings account drawing 1%. Later next year I (may) be investing in multi family real estate.
In the meantime, is there a better investment for my money?
>>1672778
Why the fuck do you have so much money in one savings account?
>>1672779
>had about 30K in there
>recently sold 3 town homes
>other banks paying 0.1%
why not?

So nuclear medicine isn't working out for me at cawlege, think of either social work, business n commerce or nursing, which top 2 are decent from people oppinion/experience?
As a nurse: no matter what your title or skill level, you'll always be the doctor's bitch
Social work: you can move up but will never be paid or appreciated for the work you do
Business: the cons of both with the possibility of becoming the top dog and do the same to those below you what was done to you.
>>1672809
Nice! Probably the best advice I've seen here yet! Thanks brother!
>>1672773
social work: Social Work/Counseling/Clinical Psych are 100% pointless unless you are prepared to get at least a master's, to get licensed as a Clinical Social Worker or Professional Counselor. For an LPC we are talking 60 credit master's too and 3,000 hours of hard-to-get supervised time before you can even test for a license. All this to make $15-18/hr.
business: General business degrees are unspecific and undirected toward a future career. The smartest option is simply to go for accounting which gives you a straight up making money option with the CPA. It does require 5 years, but gives you a very stable option for a career. I mean, people say finance is great too, but honestly CPA seems to be a better entry. If you wanted to get into financial planning for instance, a CPA can simply challenge the Certified Financial Planner exam without taking 18 extra credits worth of university level pre-req training.
nursing: If you are not doing well at nuclear, why would you even consider a very difficult healthcare major like professional nursing? You are talking hundreds of hours of clinical time, along with all of the same undergrad level classes as pre-med or pre-healthcare (A&P, micro, etc. etc.) Nursing programs can be pretty rough, with multiple classes in a day, along with 4-6 hours of clinicals. Nurses generally have more responsibility than technologists as well due to their actions being run under their own license to practice nursing.
Hi /biz/,
I'm trying to figure out the fastest way to get money so I can start a grow and open a dispensary. Being able to produce organic, quality weed to patients or people over 21 is the dream and working a minimum wage job seems to be a terrible way to make money fast.
Is crowdfunding a viable option? Besides offering free weed what kind of rewards would even make sense to pair with this if it is an option?
>>1672763
have you ever grown before?
>>1672765
Yes, although only one personally. My friend and I (who would be doing this together) have been assisting others with their grows over the past two years whenever the opportunity came up but we haven't been able to get the land to start our own due to lack of funds.

how profitable is writing a blog?
Is passive income?
Any experience here with that?
if you ahve the time just make a blog with stolen mp3,albums. celebrity nudes etc.
cooking and traveling won't get you anywhere, even armchair philosophy.
>>1672630
I do plan on translating blogs to spanish, stealing pictures and shit.
how much money can you make off a blog anyway?
>>1672622
> how profitable is writing a blog?
not very
Is passive income?
I suppose
Any experience here with that?
Yes, my blog earns me about $3 per month
How do I network in college?
I'm an awkward loner with terrible social skills, how exactly do I get in with professors and others in order to find good internships or jobs? I'm in engineering
What is a good way to practice this type of networking? It's not exactly r9k, as I mainly want it so I can have more opportunities available
>>1672616
Take an interest in your professor's work. Ask them about their personal experience in the sector. And then talk to them like you would any human being.
>>1672616
Don't sperg out at social networking events. They usually have them plastered all over college campuses or social media. When you get to the event walk over to someone whom you might consider shy as well. Think about being in their shoes. They probably don't want to be there just like you, but the only way to make your time worthh it is by making the fiest step.
>>1672637
Do you mean like engineering/job conventions or just social school events in general?
Any of you work with "windbags"? i.e. people who talk a lot but say nothing?
It is the #1 most annoying fucking thing I deal with, in work life.
"Let's synergize the aggregate artificial intelligence so as to better utilize our cloud platforms"
>>1672577
ex windbag here, it's kind of embarrassing talking about your ideas for a startup with a co-worker and the co-worker gives you shit 6 months later like "how's the startup going" and you then realize exactly how much of a fraud you really are
I've learned my lesson in not talking so much at work
So is it just a cover? How can people like that become successful by doing literally nothing?
Surely there's someone along the lines, in a position of power, that calls bullshit on it?

Is it illegal to own multiple companies?
I ask because it always seems like successful company owners seem have a tendency to sell their current company when they're going to move into a different one, instead of just staying at the head or fucking relegating the work to someone else while remaining the official owners.
Is there a good reason for this? Am I failling to see the big picture? Is there anything preventing someone from doing that?

>>1672500
>Is there a good reason for this? Am I failling to see the big picture? Is there anything preventing someone from doing that?
Because they don't have the time for it???
They can't really devote the time.
>>1672520
I don't now, I don't know anything about anti-monopoly laws or how they operate, that was my guess.
And yeah, running multiple companies is hard, but can't you just appoint someone else to do it for you instead?
>>1672528
Of course, you can own multiple companies. You assign people to run it that you can trust and you get the profit left over (IE not going to the company/workers) as long you know what you're doing and you oversee all of them well enough.
What's the point of being a wagecuck when you could get rich as fuck through bank fraud and malware?
I just don't see a point working for $60k/yr when people make this in a week.
It doesn't last forever.
You already posted this thread.

>sell chinese designer """replicas""" online at a 100% markup
>solicit cam sites and basically pimp them out without their knowledge, take 80% for myself and give 20% to my ""employees""
>sell OC cp on the darknet for thousands, leave the country when I feel like the feds are onto me
>execute a couple insurance fraud scams in several states
>make a keylogger and put it in porn files through filesharing sites
being a fraud takes a lot of work tbqh, and risking 50k for 15 years to life in prison isn't worth it
you can shut around with credit card fraud and small shit all you want but real money is what you want and you better be prepared to do some real work

>you can shut around with credit card fraud and small shit
>Small shit
>Can literally pay $10k a day with credit card fraud
But that's beside the point. People are making MILLIONS. Literally hundreds of millions from this shit. And we need to get in on it.
I get $8.40 an hour, Wat do?
Keep working and find either another part time job or a full time job. Grind it out bro.

Have you ever directly been offered sexual favors in exchange for legitimate business services? I do consulting work and I have a female client who has not so subtly hinted that she would be willing to make it worth my while to expedite one of her projects. I have too much at stake to really entertain the idea though, so I think I'll just quote a higher hourly fee. Anyone have any good stories though?
Whores are never a good investment.
My Mom's friend once came on to me when she stopped by asking if she could stay with us for a while until she got back on her feet. My Mom was at work. I shoulda did it but she used to be a stripper, has 6 kids by 4 different people, and just looks like a mess. I didn't want to lose my virginity and get HIV or something. She had a fine ass body but her face just screamed meth addict.
Fuck her after the job, after you send the bill but before she receives it
Anyone here purposely do a mediocre job at work?
I take longer to complete projects intentionally. For two reasons:
1) If you do an excellent job management will volunteer you to do more since you're an exceptional employee.
2) It prevents burnout. You're giving yourself breather because no one else will.
Sure you can argue "But if you do a good job you'll get promoted!!". More than likely someone has to die for a position to open. Take my advice, it's easier to shop around for better pay at a different company.
>>1672367
I underpromise, over deliver (if possible). Does that count?
I work in a factory right now. My job is all about taking your time and safety first so I take my time. I don't even break a sweat. I work in a room all by myself cutting up bad product and throwing it through a grinder so they can turn the bad vinyl back into pellets and re run it again instead of throwing it out. They say they want at least 3 scrap carts done a night (12 hour shifts) so I stretch it to 4 hours a cart even though it can be done in less than a hour working at a normal pace.
>>1672375
I also try to get cut or hurt at least once a month. They are planning to automate the thing so it cuts all by itself and all I'd have to do is feed the vinyl in it. But if I'm doing to a great job on my own, they probably wouldn't ever replace the machine because there's no history of people getting hurt. They've only started this recycling process a few months ago so hopefully by the end of 2017 I'll get the auto cutter machine and all I will do is stand there feeding it.
The reason more people aren't rich isn't because of ability, but rather motivation
>>1672309
More people are rich, but once everyone is rich we have to raise the bar so that more people aren't rich.

THIS.
The things even the poorest people in America have is fucking amazing compared to the rest of the world.
>>1672317
Yep. True words. We're spoiled.
"I can't live on $12 / hr". Yet somehow millions of illegals manage to do it, and send half of it home.
Nobody said life was easy. Well, maybe your parents did. That's a millennial thing.
Just wondering about a good investment for someone w around 1 k to spend

What are your goals with the money? What is your time horizon for when you will need the money?
Is the rest of your fiscal house in order? Do you have debts? Do you have an emergency cash fund? Do you have a 3-6 months living expenses to allow you to persevere through a serious "oh shit!" event like losing your job or totaling your car?
