How do you get over the grief of losing pet?
I lost both my service dog, Goldie, and my cat, Big Moosey, four years ago. Goldie was attacked by a neighbor's dogs, and Moosey got leukemia and went downhill fast.
I know four years is a long time, but I haven't been able to bring myself to get another companion.
At the request of my doctor, I've been waitlisted for another service animal, and it has become increasingly difficult to get by without one.
I was hoping other anons would share their experiences.

You don't get over it.
Years later I see things in my periphery and reflexively think it's my cat only to remember she's gone.
But you still had years of good memories where you bettered each others lives. You're not replacing them because that's impossible. The goodbyes are hard but if you could go back would you choose never to have had them? Ask yourself what's stopping you.
You don't fully get over it but you don't forget the good memories you have. Use the grief to appreciate your new pets even more.
i put my 14-year old dog down in august. i had her since she was 3-months old. i got another dog two weeks later. it helped, i guess, but i still think of her and get sad every day.
time is really the only remedy. another pet can take your mind off the ones you lost and give you an outlet for your love, but it's not the same. try to focus on the good memories and not the end of your old pets' lives.
My dog is 8 years old and I still slip up and call her by the name of the dog I had before her.
My 13 year old cat is dying of renal failure. Just found out less than 12 hours ago. Vet didn't say whether it was acute or chronic. I didn't think to ask because I've never been in this situation before. I'm assuming it's chronic due to his age and lack of ingestion of toxins.
For the past few days he hasn't been eating. And what he did eat he vomited right back up. Vet gave him anti-vomit meds and he seems to be holding down the chicken I fed him earlier. Now he's just curled up on my bed, making occasional trips to the water bowl and litter box.
My vet recommended a couple days of subcutaneous fluids, but will that actually help at all? Or is it time for me to let go? I don't want him to suffer, but 13 years seems almost too soon for this. Please help me make the right choice.

I'm so sorry for the situation you're in, anon. Go with your instinct, watch him closely and judge whether or not you think he's in pain and/or gonna make it through this.
The worst thing possible for a pet owner is to stay in denial that their pet isn't in any kind of pain due to their own feelings and not wanting to let go.
I know you'll make the right choice, anon.
Sorry for you anon
My 8 year old cat died yesterday from a pancreas problem. I can't help you with your choice and I can't imagine how hard it must be, mine died in the clinic being treated but my pain is lessened knowing I did everything I could. I don't feel sad until I mention him, I just feel like there's a big hole in my life

If dolphins lived on land and had hands and feet do you think they could overtake humans for being the most dominant species on earth?
>>2355621
Nah, dolphins are pussies, I once punched one when I was on holiday, little bitch swam away clicking at me.
>humans: 1
>Dolphins: Who give a fuck, dolphins are the gayest fish.
>>2355621

>jews convince millennials that dolphins are humans just like you and me
>millenials demand open borders for dolphins
>dolphin cuckold porn among other degenerate shit becomes a thing
>skip to a 1000 years later
>dolphins now control the earth using negroes as slaves
>genetic catastrophy among dolphins happens
>they lose use of their vingers
>their slaves start to rebel against them
>having no land to flee to they enter the oceans, never to return
>skip a couple of thousands of years
>sumarian civilisation comes into existance

Anyone knows what it is ?
>>2355305

>>2355305
I'd almost suggest possibly being a horse fly but it's too blurry to see it's anatomy too well up close.
>>2355311
is it gonna steal my wallet?
my 9 year old doodler is dragging his back legs today. I noticed it a little bit the other day while we were out for a particularly long walk, but today it's more noticeable

How long can we have a nice Dinosaur/Paleoart thread until it becomes a war place between feather and scale nuts?
>>2354849
>war place between feather and scale nuts
never been to a dino thread, what do you mean?
>>2354854
Basically every dinosaur thread starts with some nice art and ends up as a discussion wether or not T. rex had feathers and how many dinosaurs actually had skin
>>2354855
That's ridiculous, everybody knows they had scales.
This is Pepe the cat. His name is Pepe. He is a cat.

>>2354373
Dunno.
I'm in the US. I gave my ex-wife one for Christmas a couple years back. I think it cost $2.50 US and I got it at a hardware store, Home Depot.

Looking for someone for serious export
Is this a cockroach?
>>2353820
Dude I'm freaking out right now because I had roaches before and had to dish out 200 bucks to fix it. This definitely looks like a baby cockroach to me. But I'm not an animal scientist or anything. It was very small, like a few millimeters at best.
>>2353819
Pic too fuzzy... it could be a cockroach or a blobsquatch. Hard to say. Get CSI to enhance the picture.
For those who had old dogs that died at home, is it normal to see them just walking about seemingly normal for their age hours before you find them dead?
I've had old dogs but we always had them euthanized due to medical problems in their age but today I found my dog lying in the middle of the room dead. She was 14-15, had a heart murmur as well as some tumors that could not be removed due to it, and she has been 'acting old' for years. Since I was asleep when she died it's hard not to think it was something I could have done especially since that wasn't one of her usual sleeping spots. I'd like to think she just felt tired and laid down, or if she had a heart attack or stroke it was over quickly.
Your dog is lucky then.
Both my childhood dogs died natural deaths and both of them yelped and howled for hours. The 14 year old lab had a visible tumor on his side but the 19 year old mutt had no obvious cause of death. One day he just couldn't stand up and wailed for hours before he stopped breathing.
It was pretty traumatic as a 12 year old kid with no previous experience with death.
The last burst of energy can be a normal thing for all dying animals, including humans
>>2353442
I've been there, buddy. While the other dogs had been euthanized, it took some emotional scarring growing up on my end and suffering on the dogs to get my parents to have them put down. I had to raise hell as a kid about it. My dad could seem to grasp the concept of "this needs medical attention" for his kids let alone dogs. I still can't feel anything in my right arm, went a few weeks with some minor fractures and had a blood transfusion when I was 13 because he wanted to 'wait and see if it stops bleeding'. Unrelated incidents. He also had five heart attacks and didn't see anyone about them until we called an ambulance much to his distain.
Their dogs only see a vet because I take them and pay for it.
