I think pugs are cute, but I support breeding them to extinction so no dogs have to suffer like they do.
Sadly, people interpret trying to breed away birth defects as trying to commit doggie genocide so there's no way that'll happen any time soon.

I wish we still had the genetics for the breed pictured in OPs pic. Looks like he'd have a much higher quality of life then most pugs. I'd love to get my hands on an 10th century Shih tzu

Pug hate is way fucking out of control on /an/. They're fine for the most part, just don't let it get morbidly fucking obese and it will be a happy dog with little to no issues. Sure, they can't exercise for as long as other dogs because they tend to essentially overheat but they're happy. I have 3 pugs, all of them are over 8 years old and they never had any problems. They're good boys.
