Who's your all time favorite video game character? Mine is King Kooper.
Dr. Willy
>>4052572
He's a good villain. I think Doctor Robotik was kind of an exaggerated ripoff of him.
nihilistic with a twisted sense of humor, etc
shaders are much worse than CRTs
however, in a pinch where you do not have a CRT with you, a shader can do an OK job and is probably preferable to not having a shader at all
I like no shader at all, been playing shaderless for over 20 years and never had a problem
>>4052460
lol no
Just play at the original or x2 res in windowed mode if you really wanna play on lcd
>>4052460
That looks OK at 1440p, but having 4K or higher would really make the phosphors look more realistic.
is this a good deal?
>>4052452
if he takes off that last 0 then yeah
>>4052452
if he sucks your dick then yeah
>>4052457
some might consider that a bad deal
What are your favorite retro space sims? What do you look for in the genre? Do you prefer combat-heavy dogfighters or nonlinear, economic sandbox games?
Starting the thread with a screenshot of the genre's (arguably) most controversial game: Battlecruiser 3000AD.
>>4052356
I played the shit out of Elite II and III. You still can't find another game with true Newtonian movement and seamless transitions from space to a planetary surface.
>>4052356
Are there any games similar to TIE Fighter? Just jet fighters with souls no longer weighed down by gravity?
Tachyon: The Fringe
I'm a sucker for Bruce Campbell.
No modern GPUs seem to have either a dedicated VGA-port nor a DVI-I port, so I will have to get some sort of adapter to use a CRT monitor. Does anyone have any idea about one with low latency added?
>>4051349
There are no good ones. You need a downscaler if you want 240p.
>>4051349
Get a 900 series GTX
>>4051350
I think anon wants to use a 31khz+ PC CRT.
Try and refute that
Protip: you cannot
Wow, that was easy
>>4050780
boring as shit no personality
>>4050776
>HEY! YOU JUST BARELY TOUCHED A FUCKING ROCK! LET ME TALK ABOUT IT FOR TEN SECONDS EVEN THOUGH YOU'VE SEEN THIS MESSAGE TWO HUNDRED FUCKING TIMES ALREADY!
Yeah, I don't think so.
ITT: multiplatform games where the N64 version was the best
is this the only one?
N64 version of Shadow Man is the best version.
>>4049641
Better than Dreamcast?
>>4049625
>multiplatform games where the N64 version was the best
San Francisco Rush
regret the fact I bought it, but at least it was dirt cheap, and it showed me how different two versions could be
This was fun
>>4049624
The multiplayer mode was the best thing about it imho.
Ok
FLLYYY MY BEAUTIES
Krikzz on suicide watch:
>EZ-FLASH IV Kernel 2.00 released
>In this version, we implement the on-cart patch engine, it means the desktop version of EZ4Client was no longer needed. just copy the clean rom to the sd card and run it directly. the kernel will patch rom automatically.

Where were you when Krikzz and Everdrive GBA was kill`?
Have you tried it? It takes forever to start up a rom now. Everdrive is literally an order of magnitude faster.
>>4049093
Does this make some roms work better?
>>4049093
>kidzz on the wrong board
There's an errant r in your URL. Have a happy summer.
Who is your starfu?
Have you played Genso Suikogaidens?
Suikoden II is one of my all time favourites, but I finally got to play through the first game, too. While it was good, it really made me appreciate the sequel's improvements over it's predecessor.
Such charming games. Do any other games capture the same cozy atmosphere?
>>4047972
1 and 2 are probably my favorite JRPG series. If only 3 was finished the way the creator intended. Because you finished 2 before 1, I assume you never used Tir in 2? It's pretty fun fucking up the bosses with Soul Eater.
>Do any other games capture the same cozy atmosphere?
The non retro ones? Not really. I thought the first few chapters of 3 were pretty good even though it's had a different way of telling a story compared to 1 and 2. 4 was very bland, I didn't get attached to any of the character. I don't remember much about 5, aside from it felt very long and boring. Many people liked 5 though.
I fucking love both games' OST, probably my favorite PS1 OST beside Chrono Cross
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djd3B7H7N_0
I recently played thru 1 after years of wanting to. It was a somewhat painful experience, it is easy to tell Suikoden was Konami experimenting with something new. I had lots of fun with with, however, and really liked the game.
Once I started 2 I got why there's so much praise for it. Not only is it a ridiculously well made game, it is such an overwhelming improvement over 1 that it's hard to not appreciate it. I honestly have next to no complaints about the game up until where I played it (a bit after defending the village with humans, kobolds and that one other race).
Too bad real life overwhelmed me to the point that I had to temporarily drop it, but man, what a great game. Am I far into the game? I'd guess not, since I don't have that many stars already.
You cunts are delusional.
You have 10 seconds to explain why you don't have an OSSC.
>>4044962
Permanently out of stock.
Weird random quirks.
Outputs what is imputed so no arcades or dos with odd refresh rates.
>>4044962
Too much lag to bother with
>>4044962
Have a VP400 and Framemeister already.
what are some of the best underrated DOOM clones out there? the game in the picture is Citadel for the Amiga.
Rise of the Triad
Gloom
When did DOOM clones start to become FPSes?
playing on a 32inch hdtv, would a s-video cable on wii provide a significant boost over composite? I recently got into playing VC on the original wii and was looking into better picture quality. Sorry if this sounds fuckin dumb but im pretty new to it. I'm wondering if the improvement would be as significant considering that its on a hdtv as opposed to a crt
>>4041546
It would, but since you have a HDTV why wouldn't you use Component?
>>4041549
yeah, i guess since wii s-video cables are apparantly rare, and in this case i found one cheap ($15) as opposed to a component cable ($30). im just being a cheapskate, i'll probably go for component
>>4041549
Because most modern HDTVs made nowadays don't support 240p over component (which is what the Wii typically puts out when playing VC titles).
I finished both Lunar games and now i feel a void in my heart and that feel when you will never play those beautiful games for the first time again.
Discuss, ask me anything, rec similar rpgs or just let me drown in sorrow.
>>4038193
Have you tried the Grandia series
>>4038198
No i want to give them a chance but everybody say they're too childish, and one thing i loved about Lunar is their mundane and sexual kind of humor.
>>4038193
what is the best version of lunar games to play?
ITT: Retro "NEVER EVER"s
Fucking Gideon, never gonna finish this
>>4036565
I've been stuck in 65% hell for about ten years now if that helps you feel any better.
>>4036565
He'll never finish ANYTHING. There are DOZENS of games that will literally NEVER be translated because he "claimed" them and he literally does NO work.
I imagine comments like these only lengthen the wait, as a fellow fan-translator that's what I would do.
