Because they based Dungeons and Dragons off of LotR lore, and Dungeons and Dragons is the game that was shoved into the public consciousness because of outrage and controversy, so it's the game that everyone heard about, and therefore the one that infected all forms of media. The interesting part is that Ultima actually penetrated Japanese culture first, so you see a lot more of that dark inspiration there.

Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games. The Kickstarter was nearly 300% funded, and we're on the fast track to kicking ass baby.
Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.
MEGA folder containing current version of the game and all supplementary materials.
Note that the latest version of the game is v1.9.9 but with additional supplements.

That GW Judge Dredd RPG is so great. Here is a short list of reasons why you shouldn't bother with any of the other ones:
>Focuses on the buisiness and life of being a judge, doesn't get wishy-washy with playable citizens or anything.
>Runs on a highly specialised variant of the WFRP rules customised to reflect judging very well.
>Very low lethality for the bad guys. It is so incredibly rare to actually kill any one because of the games focus on making arrests, how scary judges are (they have a presence stat which can make perps surrender immediately), subduing techniques, and sentencing. Very few perps are mad enough to risk death.
>A unique and completely brilliant initiative system. In fact, a character's initiative is thier *health*. As they get battered they react slower and get fewer and fewer actions.
>You are the Law!
I recommend trying it out with some folk who are game for it. You'll have a blast!

I'm sad at the moment. I've been playing dredge a long time now and I absolutely love it, but I would really like to build another deck. I've tried MUD, DnT, Delver, Miracles(when top was legal), Burn, Reanimator and Storm, but none of them have hit in the sweet spot as well as good old dredge.
Blood moon type of decks seem too similiar to MUD, that I don't even bother trying it. BUG leovold type decks are too expensive. What are my choices anymore?
I just love how dredge goes from being a nuts draw machine into grind opponent out. Especially now that I've been playing reactive cards main. I would like to see another deck with various possible playlines.

do you have a list? I've been messing around with manaless dredge for fun, and while it's neat I haven't gone to play at my LGS with it since I want to play magic and not get BTFO by hate so I've been thinking about picking up the 4 LEDs for real dredge

He would be PERFECT for an Orks movie! Doesn't need to worry about more then a paper thin plot, plenty of explosions, and he can make things look as confusing and/or ramshackle as he wanted and it would still make sense.
Hell, have the Sisters be the ones fighting the Orks and you can even get some of the titillation he likes too.

We finally get to see the other two skirmish upgrades for iconic figures they've been promising, and it's no surprise they're for Han and Chewie. Han is an absolute beast with his upgrade, possibly able to get three strong attacks in a round. He might die fairly quickly still, but he should put out some serious damage.

Chewie's upgrade knocks off some of his defense, but it's worth it for the big discount, increased offense, and guarantee of drawing his command card in your opening hand.
And both Han and Chewie can benefit tremendously from the excellent command cards available to smugglers.

We also got a preview of the other two new Rebel heroes for skirmish, after seeing Ko-Tun with the announcement.
I think Jarrod is the one that will see the most play, since he's a good fit in a Spy list and probably tough enough for his cost. Drokkatta has excellent firepower, but he's competing for a spot with nuHan and nuChewie. Ko-Tun has good abilities and a nice long-range attack, but can't risk getting caught up close with that low health pool.

I'm feeling shitty about my home game right now. I wanna hear other stories to make myself feel less shitty. I'll start though.

When it comes to out of game interruption I simply, kindly remind everyone at table we are all here to play "insert game". Please keep all off game topics on hold until a break or we are finished. Any decent person who is there to play should understand this. If this doesnt work remind the one person whos interrupting again what you're all there for. Single them out, if they are intelligent and mature they will feel a little embarasses and comply. If they are selfish and arrogant they wont, then its easy to kick them from the group. They've proven they are not interested in playing the game like everyone else. Nothing wrong with taking control of your table when you're the GM. You'll thank yourself later by doing so.
