Been working on a sci-fi setting, and been wanting to avoid the sterotype of humans being jack of all trades, or just plain tougher than anybody else (if we go with the HFY stuff, though this'll no doubt turn into such a thread), or the consumate diplomats. So I thought "You know what's weird? Humans fucking poison themselves for fun and profit."
Okay, so we know that on planet earth, the ability to eat stuff that is actually poisonous to you and survive it isn't exactly the most common skill for macrobiological beings.
Humans developed it as a method of hygene we're pretty sure. Eat the poisonous, spicy, red plant, deal with the hell your ass will be feeling, but it'll kill all those nasty parasites in you. So humans that could eat spicy (read: poisonous) food were better able to survive not only because they had an additional food source, but because they were killing off all the parasites in their guts.
A nifty advantage on top of this is that our bodies can process a lot of stuff with crazy side effects that would probably kill us if our livers/kidneys/various other purification systems weren't up to snuff.
What if Humanity's big contribution to the galaxy is recreational drug usage? Oh, other species had the basic ideas, but they never really got beyond their equivalents of weed because anything harder would have been too much trouble on their systems. Medicine for them required far more precise measurements than it did for humans because the difference between medicine and poison for them was so much larger than it is for us. The idea of "Hey, I wonder if this morphine stuff could be used to have a good time" wouldn't have occurred to them, even -after- they had the technology either cybernetically or genetically to allow them to do that kind of stuff safely.
>cont
Is this actually true?
Enter humans, who have the uncanny knack of figuring out how to distill, process, or otherwise convert various forms of biological matter into shit that'll have them trippin balls for hours.
Humans are unique in the galaxy because unlike the super tough, durable, bite your head off races, their biology isn't SO good at processing poison that they never are effected by it at all, and they're not like the less tough species that weren't evolutionary equipped to experiment with their medicines just to see which are the most fun to use.
Enter humans with their rather extensive set of cultures and rules on getting high, and that's their export to the galaxy. A new form of entertainment based on chemically altering your brain in a safe way. Suddenly there's a market for all those poison processor implants and gene-tweaks that isn't just for the survival nuts or the military, and for the super tough dudes? Maybe some kind of speciliazed pump can be invented for them to allow the chemicals to bypass their natural safeguards.
I'm not quite sure what I'll be encouraging the party to do in this game, but it'll probably involve crazy shenanigans, smuggling, exploration for the next big high, and other fun things like that.
Thoughts? Additions? Places I can take this? What do you guys think?

>you will never be the Walter White of space, producing and selling large quantities of chili peppers to tweaked-out Martian addicts
How would you run a superhero type game/setting with the premise that for whatever convoluted reason (including the genre favorite of "pure coincidence) all the superheroes in the world happened to pop up over the Middle East? I'm not just talking heroes inspired by Arabian folklore, I'm talking all kinds. The aliens landed there, the power suits were built there, the dimensional anomaly happened to open there.
Basically, what Manhattan is to most superhero settings, the Middle East. It's the most interesting region on Earth at the moment, it seems natural to me
>>52362299
Well, you're not going to have some Captain Arabia type dude or anything like that. I would say make the main guy everyone rallies around someone who was born outside of the region is it slightly removed from the tribal/political issues but still wants to help as they are ethnically attached to the area so Kebab Iron Man would be a good start.
>>52362354
Isn't one of the most interesting facets of the region though that it's so divided? You're right, there WOULDN'T be a Captain Arabia in the Middle East. That's a part of the setting! To each country its own heroes (plus perhaps neutral ones), its own villains, etc., whose alliances must accommodate the shifting national and political climates. Some heroes might react to this better (the patriotic types), some not. Perhaps every once in a while a villain shows up who forces them to unite - but what political complications would this cause?
>>52362299
You'd have a ton of different factions, each one extremely convinced they're right. They'd use religious and nationalistic reasons to fight over resources and strategic points.
Also, they'd probably quickly find a way to cleverly use even the most tame superpowers for combat.
Who is the most powerful in terms of raw power and metaphysical fuckery? Cthulhu and his bros or the chaos gods?

>There are legit ERPG systems and splatbooks
Can someone explain to me why this exists? Maybe I'm just a brainlet but I can only imagine two circumstances under which you'd play ERPG and both of them fall flat on their asses if you think about it.
>Scenario 1: you're playing with friends
Then why would you want to get a boner in a room full of fat neckbeards while talking about how you totally want to rape the hot elf chick?
>Scenario 2: You're playing it with your partner
Then why not just skip straight to the foreplay? This isn't foreplay, it's fore-fore-fore-foreplay.
So what gives?
>>52329838
>Can someone explain to me why this exists?
The majority of tabletop RPG players are horny males who can't attract females. This is their version of an unattractive truck driver buying a copy of Hustler at the gas station.

> Can someone explain to me why this exists?
Online text games.
You know you can play ERPG just for fun too? Not everyone is a sex maniac who gets raging boners and need to fap if they indulge in their fetish. Also, some people are conformtable enough with their sexuality not to embarressed to show it to their friends. Hell, some people even like to have BDSM parties or orgies with their friends.

Couple of TD spoilers
First up, the trash-bypass killer, named (as a few suspected a card in the conman set might be) after Victor Lustig, known as "the man who sold the Eiffel Tower twice"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Lustig
And on the other side, we get Sage's friend, Adept.
Being a killer I'm thinking it's a lot better
The flavour text is a quote from Heraclitus:
>much learning does not teach understanding
(Sage's quote is also from a Greek philosopher, it's from Plato)
Hard to say. Shapers are the sort of madmen/women that mess around with Things Men Are Not Meant To Know just because they can. But nothing personal really.

First for Age of the Emperor
Great job, you forgot the /40kg/
Boyz are an underrated unit, in my opinion.
Do you guys keep track of your ammunition and encumbrance?
>>52403405
Only in a fairly loose sense, unless i'm doing a game where tracking it really matters.
>>52403405
Usually yes, but it depends on the nature of the game.
Yeah, but I'm probably on the spectrum. I always have loads of spare clothes, redundant means to start fires and provide lights, food, water, shelter (tents, blankets, bedrolls, and more where needed,) special weather gear based on climate, climbing gear, fucking six to twelve weapons and at least half a dozen tools like shovels, crowbars, and so forth, personal effects like books, diaries, etc., scrolls and wands and shit, and the Infinite Cosmic Power of being a character that can already cast cleric spells and see in the fucking dark.
I guess I'm paranoid about dumb, little shit, I dunno. No DM has ever tried to fuck with me about anything like that, so there's no reason. My friends just joke about it; it's a running gag that their characters can ask if anyone's got X and my cleric dude either has it or can approximate it, period.

Glroybringer
3RR
Flying, haste
You may exert Glorybringer as it attacks. When you do, it deals 4 damage to target non-Dragon creature an opponent controls.
What does Exert do? Does it let you Frost Lynx your own creature? Is it making your creatue smaller?
>>52397687
>>52397699
Embalm reads like this. If a creature with embalm is in the graveyard, you may activate its embalm ability. Create a token that's a copy of that creature. The token for Trueheart.
>>52397687
Article says that exert does indeed frost lynx ur own creature in exchange for a triggered ability.
Granted just like other cannot untapped effects you can go around this like new Gideon +2, or just give it vigilance since all it says is doesn't untap, but that doesn't matter if you don't tap urself down to attack in the first place
As for the cycling demon, my fucking dick. Pic related.

Let's discuss the arcana we're about to get! Who's hyped about the upcoming rules on feasting and expanded hunger mechanics?
Reposting here.
>>52395062
Assuming the warlock has a 16 in Charisma at all levels, it would be
17, 17, and 34. Obviously, the 10 in this scenario is one level below when it gets its third beam. Which would be 25.5.
Of course, if we were to assume our warlock has a +5 modifier, it changes to
21, 21(31.5 at 11th level). and 42.
Gonna post it here aswell, see if I can get some more tips;
So, we have a SKT game coming up and one of our players is going to do a deep stalker ranger.
I got an idea to do a rogue1/deepstalkerX goblin sidekick, sort of a Igor to Frankenstein type of master-servant relationship.
Is this entirely retarded or feasible?
How the fuck should I go about building this little fucker?
I was thinking maybe doing a deep stalker 3/rogueX to differentiate from the other PC, and using melee as he is using ranged. Thoughts?
We have a cleric and that makes rations obsolete and negates any need to forage for food or water.
