What's a good post processing software to use if you just got into photography? I've been thinking about getting lightroom but I'm hesitant to spend money on it because this is already an expensive ass hobby for someone with my level of income as it is.
I'm looking for something that stresses ease of use, and preferably has good tutorials on youtube and wherever to figure it out. Thanks a ton!

Rawtherapee is really good when you use it in conjunction with the Haldcutt film emulation plugin.
Try a workflow of
*Colors
- Select film emulation stock
- Color Toning - Method - Color Balance Shado... then,
- Add blue to the shadows and yellow to the highlights for a cinematic look.
*Exposure
- Tone Curve 1 = Custom. Standard - Film Like
Drag the bottom right end point up and to the right to reduce the intensity of the blacks. It's subjective, but I think it looks quite good.
- You could play with saturation or vignette. A lot of the more niche features can be ignored unless you're some massive photography nerd.
You can crop in a variety of conventional and unconventional aspect ratios, nice way of changing your composition.
You can get lightroom and photoshop for 10 bucks a month my man.

Steve Huff video with the new Leica M10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkjFpCbg2Q4&t
Sooo, when will the M9 become affordable to a cheapskate like me?

>when will the M9 become affordable to a cheapskate like me
Never, it will only increase in value.
>>3004916
So you're saying buy it right now?
>>3004919
I'm saying don't buy into a luxury accessory, because that's what it is. Get a normal camera like everyone else because a digital Leica will make the same damn photo any cheap Rebel or NEX can.

Anything about lenses, cameras, mounts, systems, buying, pricing, selling, etc. GOES IN HERE!
Do not open new threads for gear-related issues.
No pointless (brand) arguments and dickwaving allowed! You have been warned! Just questions, answers and advice.
And don't forget, be polite.
First for Sony 70-200/2.8 GM flop
does the first extra lens you buy fully depend on the kind of photography you want to use it for?
or is there an all-purpose one that works well on portraits as well, for example?
(in general, but more specifically for m43)

Usually we encourage people to get a normal focal length prime. You can never go wrong with a standard prime. The rest is up to you and what you need.
So, I've together with some other people agreed to rent a studio space that we're going to turn into a darkroom.
Suggestions for how to actually build one, is welcomed.
We have permission to build walls and modify the room as we see fit.
As of now there is only cold water, and a center drain, but I envision installing a small water heater somewhere.
So far we have one 6x6 enlarger with a color head, and a 5x7 condenser enlarger. I'd like to reserve some space for a RA-4 processor, Jobo machine and some bits and bobs, but I'm more interested in general ideas for the shaping of the room.
One of my partners wants to make a separate area for chemicals apart from the actual enlarger area to minimize ill effects from chemical fumes, which sounds like a reasonable idea.
Included is a quick sketch I drew up of the room, with approximate measurements.

We want to make Art, not weed.
Of course this is also a general thread for discussing and showing prints and stuff, so please post your stuff to Make /p/ Great Again.
>>3004592
My setup is down for winter as the backroom has become the bunny home.
Grow tents are useful though, they're designed to have no light leaks and to take good ventilation, and to have lots of area for hanging stuff. Don't go for the cheapest of the cheap though as the zips don't have proper flaps over them. A 2m x 2m would be plenty large for a decent sized enlarger and trays and some moving room.
What up Fags.
It's been a long time since I've posted here, good to see nothing's changed.
Due to the lack of actual photo threads in this shit hole I thought Id post up a little set that otherwise really doesn't have a reason to see the light of day.
May 2016 I got my learners Motorbike Licence and a week later rode 1500 kms from Auckland (NZ) to Dunedin to graduate from University. This trip being a return to the city I spent 4 years at as well a goodbye to It and with that, the juvenile delinquency that only a student is capable of. A transition into the real world.
Taking 4 days, It was my first true solo endeavor and a prelude to the isolation to come later In 2016 when I left my home country to move abroad.
Not really Interested In criticism, just wanted to share the journey.

How does one go about selling their pictures? I am looking into selling framed prints or posters but I really have no idea where to start. Has anyone on /p/ have any experience with either selling online or at an arts festival, flea market or gallery? Any tips?

http://streetbounty.com/2017/01/20/10-iconic-street-photos/
I find myself explaining a lot what Street Photography actually means and which kind of photos I try to take. There seem to be a lot of prejudices towards the term “Street Photography” on its own. Most of the time when I describe myself as a photographer on the street I get responses like “and which building is your favorite” followed by questions about my gear. Little do they know, that popular Street Photographs are part of our culture and survived many decades. Some even made it in our history books – declared as “Press Photos” – for their informative value.
Street Photography is part of our culture and below are just 10 of the most iconic Street Photos that are classic witnesses of their respective time, but nonetheless relevant and enjoyed today.
1Vivian Maier
One of the most famous nannies in the world photographs a boy feeding pigeons in 1950s Chicago. Armed with her double lense Rolleiflex she wandered through the streets of Chicago capturing the raw emotions of others. Described as a loner she was able to record the unique scenes and feelings of the Chicago citizen.
2William Klein
The New York Street Photographer William Klein manages to capture one of the strongest facial expressions known in photographs. Standing next to him is a boy looking almost unimpressive, forming a great contrast with the very malicious looking boy with a gun. William Klein used a 35mm Lense and although the Vogue magazine declined to print this picture, it still made his way into the history books of Street Photography.

1. Should I get a cheap film slr, like a pentax k1000?
2. Haven't done any post-processing, what programs would you recommend to start off with and tutorials etc.
