Going to Iceland in march, I'm a pro photographer but I usually don't do landscape. Any tips?

Business or pleasure, and why ask here...of all places?
I'm genuinely curious.

rent a car when you get there. Honestly the tourist trips you'll go on will have 1 redeeming thing on the whole day that you get to look at for half an hour before you get back on a bus to drive and hour to look at another thing for 30 mins, it's shit. Honestly do your own lil tour, and plan before you go, theres some cool things down south.
Why did you choose nikon over canon, anon-senpai? I don't see a point if you don't already have a bunch of old nikkor lenses.
Canon is cheaper and everyone uses then.
>muh IQ
>muh sensor
I can't see a difference.
Gonna sell my D3300 should I stay nikon?
moving the af square moves the spot meter, on all the modern bodies.
pressing the ok button zooms to 100% at the focus point, pressing it again it zooms out
nikon 35mm 1.9 g dx.
GOOD GOD NIKON RAW IS GOOD WHEN YOU FUCK UP.
>>3006940
>moving the af square moves the spot meter
What you mean by that? Don't all the cameras do that?
>pressing the ok button zooms to 100% at the focus point, pressing it again it zooms out
I use this feature a lot.
>>3006937
Nikon is the best in Shadows and Highlight details. Canon isn't good in anything really. Why is it even a thing in photography.
Anyone have much experience with anamorphic?
I'm interesting in achieving cinemascope for my short films. Cropping the top and bottom of the image just isn't as good for obvious reasons.
I know its possible to join anamorphic lenses/adapters onto other standard lenses but its difficult to find any that aren't too awfully expensive, and there's limited information on what less expensive vintage anamorphic lenses would be compatible with mine.
Trying to find a cheap anamorphic lens/adapter to put on the front of a Canon 50mm or 17-50. I want to use it for a C100
>>3006887
Anamorphic is pure meme at this point, don't even bother.
It's always look like shit on digital, plus you have to use camera with 4:3 sensor, like panasonic gh or specific configuraion of arri alexa (if you have budget), because standard ana 2x squeeze will turn your 16x9 image into stretched piece of shit.
>>3006887
There's no easy answer here. You can buy something that's $100-200 on ebay that with some work will probably make a good looking anamorphic shot.
I picked up a Schneider Kreuznach Super Cinelux Anamorphic 2x; I use it with a 55mm f/1.8 Pentax Super Takumar Works pretty well.
I'm really doubtful that you're going to find something cheap that works with lenses wider than about 50mm.
>>3006898
nothing in this post is true
>>3006887
anamorphic lenses are prohibitively expensive as there's no prosumer option around like what rokinon does for regular cine lenses.
at your pricepoint the only way to make anamorphic happen is to ask around your local film co-op and rental house to see if they'd let you borrow a set for reduced cost or free (which is not at all uncommon if you tell them you're trying to pull off a zero budget production) the next roadblock is there's a 99.8% chance they'll be PL mount which means renting a camera as well
there's a reason you don't see many indie films shot anamorphic, ya really gotta want it
I was asked to photograph an inauguration protest and counterprotest tonight. Problem is, it's started to pour, and my only camera good for fast, lowlight photography is expensive and isn't waterproof as far as I know. I've never had to shoot outdoors in terrible weather before - what do I do?
I'm more worried about rain damaging my camera than about the protesters or the cops, but any tips in that area, too?
Plastic bag or a cheap rain cover will do the trick

Can't go purchase anything last minute, any tips on bagging?
Hello everybody, this summer there is a chance that I will get a grant to shoot a documentary on the state of homelessness in the USA and I was wondering if you could give some input into what camera I should pursue.
Currently I own a Panasonic G7, it is a very good camera for its price range but I am not sure if it would be the best choice to shoot a full docu on as it is a tad limited, currently, I am considering waiting for the GH5 to release in order to upgrade to that however I am still worried about the low light capabilities of the GH5 as a lot of noise is a big pet peeve of mine when it comes to a viewing experience though I cant say for sure what the GH5 will be like on this front. I am sure that I want to shoot in 4k and am considering going with the Sony A7S II, what do you guys think? GH5 or A7S II?
Thank you for all the responses, will read them all and lurk.
>pic unrelated but related?
Literally no one can say what the gh5 can do yet, as it hasn't been released yet.
Frankly, I feel like this thread is a waste of both of our time, as it sounds like you're reaaallly unprepared for this venture. Shooting a documentary requires so much more than just a new camera.
>>3006213
Thanks for the feedback, you really blew my mind with your revelation on what goes into creating a documentary.
All I am asking about is a new body, I am good on pretty much everything else bud.
>>3006213
I mean, I wish you the best of luck and all that, but a camera is one of the least important parts of that equation.
Pull up a chair anon...

sounds cool. know why? because its a simple matter. everything else is pure photography.
the problem with "pro" photography is that there is so much to delve into (lenses, bodies, formats) that autistas tend to get entangled in such stuff and forget about taking damn photos.
normally i would give you a MRA response, but i think you should fuck off instead. that group is nice, and ur a bitter prick.
If you hate the club, why are you even part of it then?

The Pretender
/p/, I'm thinking about buying my girlfriend a polaroid camera for her birthday this year, she's turning 20 and is quite into photography. We've talked about polaroids in the past and she seems quite fond of getting one in the future, thought I should go ahead and do it.
After a bit of searching around I found a a few that seem like good candidates. Right now however I can't seem to pick between Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 and some sort of older Polaroid camera (like the Polaroid Sun 660 AutoFocus?)
What should I get her? What do you have?

Keep in mind that Polaroid does not make film anymore. The only
film you can buy for it now is from a company called The Impossible Project. Their film is insanely expensive (4 bucks a frame) and not instant (30 minutes for full development).
Instax is much cheaper ($1 a frame) and more widely available. If you do go instax, go for the wide bodies. The mini is, frankly, too small to be useful.
Just get the fucking Instax unless you want her to pay $30+ for film that may or may not work as intended.
