Your body of work.
A question for the ages. Any photo someone else deems not having had enough thought, effort, time and/or investment put into its making. That intangible thing separating "photography" from a person with a camera pressing the shutter button. Extremely subjective, extremely situational/contextual. A series of snapshits concentrating on one topic or place can become a legitimate body of work. You'll know when you see one.
It would be fun if people posted photos ITT and others commented whether they're snapshits or not, to illustrate this.
Photos who can't properly join concept + composition + perspective + manual camera settings + post processing
Don't know where this should go, since I don't think it's really a stupid question thing, but more of an advice thing
So I guess advice thread?
Anyway, I'll post some pictures that I didn't make, because I want to know how I can get something similar
So I tried getting something similar, but my pictures end up really underexposed
I don't know what pic related was taken with
I have a m43 with a kitlens, I tried doing like 1/60 shutter speed, at the (lowest I have) f/3.5, ISO was on auto at 3200
I can't go to slower shutter speeds because people usually move desu
>>3014758
>m43 with kit lens
>wants bokeh and low light
Sell your gear, i presume you're poor, get a canon 5dc and nifty fifty.
K, bye.
So how do I get better exposed pics? or is it mostly in the post-processing part that they are made so....erm I don't even know what to call it, sharp? they somehow seem perfectly exposed but I can't imagine how to get that with my camera by just messing with shutterspeed/aperture settings
hopefully nobody gets angry for posting other people's pictures
>>3014763
Just expose them correctly...
You have the wrong gear for what you want to do though.
Slow lens
An f1.4 will give you almost 3 extra stops
M43 body
You need a larger sensor for that bokeh
You need a larger sensor for clean images in low light at high iso
You need a larger sensor as they are less demanding on lenses so you will get much sharper images even with bargain lenses
What do you think?
Examples looks pretty nice:
http://www.filmferrania.it/p30
>>3013594
actually it looks like shit so far
I was hoping they'd release some colour films because the market really does not need another generic run-of-the-mill 135 B&W film
>>3013594
i like the box. we need more slow films. they are patrician.
now about the samples i thought it being an 80 iso film it woul dbe closer to the rollei one, but looks more close to the pan f 50, which i dont like that much, but still, the more film the better.
B&W motion picture stocks tend to do well as still film as well. See plus-x, BRF400+ (aka N76+). Long as it's not priced north of 6€/roll, which I think it's going to be, so not a lot of people are going to adopt this film for anything where consistent results are desired.
Is this a good photo? why?
yes, because you should do your own homework.

much better
Well faggots, whats the best laptop i can get for image processing? I need all the srgb gamut displayed, i want the most crisp detail, the most accurate colors, not dull shit with ass colors and wimp contrast, but the best, most 3d shit.
Also budget is like $600, not much, but there must be something close to what i need for that money.

Hey /p/ros.
I am new to photography and came for your help..
While I am still looking for my niche, which I am leaning towards something with cosplay/burlesque.
I was wondering if you guys had any good name suggestions. I was tying to think of something with the color purple.. Such as cyber grape (i know its horrible).
Also I am posting some photos.

I'm ready for the critics.

sounds coolio.
bump. I live in Atlanta if anyone wants to go shoot as well.
>cosplay
Don't fucking do it anon. Take it from someone who's been shooting cosplayers for six years, just don't fucking do it. You will hate yourself. You will hate the people you shoot. You will hate every other photographer in the scene. It's just not worth it.
I'm thinking about switching to pentax, because of his astrotracker, i really like my fuji, but for some time i won't be able to afford mount, so i need to compromise. Everything seems cool, since i'll use samyang lenses for astrophotography (12, 50, 135) but im not sure about autofocus lenses, i was looking at reviews of them, and they all seem inferior to any fuji lens, for example 23mm, 35mm or 50-140mm. Am i missing something? Are there any better lenses than those in fuji lineup?
>>3014481
There's very good stuff about pentax but the astrotracer isn't that great.
You should invest in good equatorial mount instead, for that purpose.
Fuji lineup is better, but the difference isn't so dramatic. I think the AF performance and the weather sealing is more important to me.
pentax shooter here
there's also no decent cheap wide lenses (the da 15mm and 21mm suck) or a good 90mm
I'm bailing pentax for fuji as soon as I can
>>3014481
Pentax and O-GPS Astrotracer owner here.
The camera is awesome, the Astrotracer is not the kind of electro-magical thingamajig you think it is.
Kind of a hassle setting it up with a longer lens (do the dance around the three axes until all three is read correctly, needs two or more tries usually)
Not very good on longer than 200mm and even then you will need f/2.8 to have decent exposure. Not very good on UWA either because the sensor shift tracking is off at the corners due to different speeds. Kind of okay around 35-50-70mm but that is not the best focal length for starscapes. Still a good light travel alternative if you can't be arsed to carry a proper tracking mount.
If you do want to do the switch see if the camera alone worth the hassle and get something like a Star Adventurer Mini or Astrotrac, iOptron, Vixen Polarie for tracking. Along with a good tripod of course, like a Manfrotto 055
I would like to take some portraits, but I don't really know that many people here, so I thought a TFP would be a good way to start.
I live in Germany now and what I wanted to know is if I need a model release or any other contract to use the pictures that I make of the person on my website as a part of my portfolio.
Also, where would be a nice place to start searching - Modelmayhem gave me a few results and all of them were paid models.
Maybe someone could share their experience of how they started shooting portraits/people.
Thanx

Models on mm ask for pay, but will usually jump at a free shoot, most of them are just entitled little strumpets that have never modelled in their life and think it's an easy way to make money.
Take them on a tfp shoot and berate them for their lack of professionalism, it's fun.
