Are trikes for old people, women who can't ride a bike and special needs people?
Will I be seen as retarded if I was caught riding one of these babies to the nearest dollar store?
>>1051101
no. that would be an insult to retards.
>>1051101
>implying you're smarter than a retard
>>1051101
is it weird to want a less agile bike? yes
should you give a fuck? no
Are roadsies the most retarded people on earth or what? how come they pay upwards to 8k for a rigid bike? Its just tubes welded together and off the shelf parts
Not even endurofags are this dumb
>>1060963
>>1060963
yeah, no
For what they are, high end road bikes are indeed overpriced. Yes there is some justification with the amount of R+D and quality manufacturing that goes into making something so light that is still has usable strength and decent aerodynamics (wind tunnels and software ain't cheap and don't play much of a part when it comes to mountain bikes) but that still can't completely justify it.
Not too many 0-4-4s around now. Besides the H Class and the M7.
That's a shame, 0-4-4s allways have had an appeal to me.
SECR H class for the win!
Because it costs shitloads of money and very few states are willing to commit the funds needed.
That said, this could quickly change if the rumors are true and Trump does allow states to toll highways. In which case, the Class 1s will lobby the big states (CA, IL, NY) for massive tolls which will cause rail to be immensely profitable again. A US HSR network could be built in under a decade in this scenario as NIMBYs can't fight armies of lawyers and lobbyists.

Freight, passenger rail let alone high speed will probably never by profitable unless they entity that's operating the service owns the track

What's your walk score, /n/?
https://www.walkscore.com/
I live in a suburban hellscape where humans are not the dominant species.
Their estimates aren't quite right for my area because the computer doesn't recognize that I live very close to a large "open space" park that can be biked through easily to access retail and a broader network of bike infra, but the walk score is actually much too high because the majority of destinations they count on the map are actually at least 10 minutes away in practice because walking to them means waiting for a crossing signal at a major intersection with long wait times for pedestrians.
This thing is not supported outside US/CA/AU/NZ
>>1058826
humm so it can still provide estimate for rest of the world
Just bought this for riding around the trails at my farmhouse in the countryside. Did I make a mistake?
>>1055524
You did make a mistake by not posting in the Bike Questions General thread.
Sage to the max. Delete your thread, noob.
The bike looks superb.
What >>1055533 said, but if you paid over $700 you got raped.
>alivio dérailleurs
>suntour fork
>no name cranks
>wheel are probably shit
>placeholder tier seat
I have a specialized hardrock and I like it. I didn't break anything on this bike for over five years despite being over 100kg and riding fairly aggressively.

Okay.
What are the benefits?
It was a good idea at the time

Principal lesson learned from the space shuttle program: congress-critters can't into engineering & design
NASA: So hey, we need a new heavy launch vehical.
USAF: We need the ability to retrieve huge objects from space and bring them back.
NASA: What? Why?!
USAF: Reasons.
NASA: That's going to cost eleventy billion dollars and make the engineering really complicated...
USAF: No really we need it.
NASA: *sigh* Fine.
*Many years later*
NASA: Look USAF, are you ever going to _use_ this thing?
USAF: ...huh? Us? Nah.
NASA: FFFffffffffffffffffff
>>1051993
Could the shuttle really grab things in orbit and bring them back? Like ruskie sats or something?
Air Canadas New livery, I actually like it. Reminds me of the one they had before their shitty toothpaste livery
Is that 2 different kinds of airplanes?

So I just got a new frame and a friend offered to help me install the BB and crankset but as you can see something is wrong here. The frame is a Poloandbike Williamsburg and the cranks are SRAM Omniums. I've seen others with this exact same setup so it should work. It's almost as if the cranks are offset to the side because the chainline seems off. Any ideas? Thanks.
Pic from the back of the drive side.

You need a spacer for the BB
The BB is the wrong way around
What's the next step after 11 speed?
Why are they always odd numbers?
Getting a one by drive train
I think it's going to go backwards, 2 chainrings and 5 speed cassettes.

What is the best/most major upgrade in biking over the last 20 years?
Seems small, but I might have to go with indexed shifting.
I had a bike with indexed shifting in 1989, are you sure you've got your years right?
I'd have to go with disc brakes.
Disk brakes or 27.5/29 tire sizes.
It's hard to pick one because stopping can be nice, but having the extra size to blast through obstacles and rough terrain is also nice.
