Sup guys. So I bought this bike at Walmart about 6 months ago and so far I've only used it for riding around town and some flat bike trails with occasional bumps here and there.
But now I want to start going to some real mountain bike trails. I will be doing beginner trails obviously. Should I upgrade my bike or is this good for now? If I do need to upgrade what's a good bike for around ~$300?
There's no good bike for that price
>>1053121
>good bike for around ~$300
No such thing
>>1053121
Your ONLY hope is to go to a co-op and build one yourself. It will be made of steel and be completely rigid.
I want my first bike. I can't decide which. Please, help.
The Cadent 4 is $480 the cadent 3 is $420.
Afe these ugly bikes? They have good parts.
Help me decide.
That's actually a really hot bike senpai
I love 1x
>>1053118
Thanks man. I'm probably going to order it. I wanna cruise around and maybe it will lift depression.
>>1053103
Was your first thread not good enough? The difference between the bikes comes down to the drivetrain, one has a 1x with a wider range cassette and the other has a double with a closer range cassette. Figure out the overall range yourself (I would guess the double will have greater range) and then decide if you need that much range, if you don't and you want the convenience of 1x then you know which bike to get.
And no they're not ugly, either colour looks fine.
>not riding with lights during the day
I'm too lazy to switch them off.
>not riding with a corvette and motorcycle ninja escort during the day

I agree 100% I cycle myself but for fuck sakes stop blinding everyone with tose fucking LEDs
Is it normal for certain roads to sexually excite you?
Every morning when I drive to work a particular section of roadway gives me an erection. Does anyone else have a "favorite" roadway?
Picture unrelated, but I'm from /g/ and we don't really keep many trans pics.
There's some nice sections of road that I prefer to use while commuting, but nothing erection-worthy, kind of odd.
It's magnets

I think it's the particular alignment of the bumps in the road that simulate a sexual act or something.
>he doesn't ride at 100+ Cadence at all times
>>1052814

>>1052820
>can't climb for shit at high cadence
>Froome, Wiggins, Nibali, Porte
wot
100+ cadence is crazy hard to maintain, at least it is for me.
>You are now aware that this song's backing track has 103 beats per minute:
>and now it's stuck in your head, enjoy playing it back in your memory for hours on end as you ride your bike and try to maintain 100+ cadence
How far can you travel in one of these? Also, can you load some cargo?
I'm considering buying one for the summer, to take me into the sea and do some snorkeling there, or to find some hidden beaches, so I would be carrying mostly the snorkeling equipment and maybe some food and water, plus sunscreen. Also planning to attach a seat to do some kayaking
>into the sea
The real question would be. Which sea?
>>1052797
That ass is more flat than that board.
>>1052815
Mediterranean sea, some 10-15km off-coast. What is it that you're concerned about?
Pls guys I'm going crazy. Which bike should I buy. The red one had better parts but idk if I want a flashy bike.
Which should I get. This will be my first bike.
>>1052782
Always get the upgrade
>>1052783
Alright you're right. Thank you femanon

>being this sensible
>lock costs more than bike
What's a cheap lock that's good enough for my 90s rigid mtb?
We should shoot bike thieves.
A good lock with last you through several bikes.
>>1052696
In any case, a good and cheap lock is the OnGuard Bulldog. Small enough to lock through your downtube, one of the wheels and whatever you're locking the bike to, and not leave much room for something to get in between. It also locks on both sides so it would have to be cut twice. And the U part is covered with a rubber hose so you don't scratch your frame. Been using the same lock for like three years now, good stuff.
>leaving heavy lock at home and just not stopping anywhere
http://bike.shimano.com/content/sac-bike/en/home/components11/road/claris-r2000.html
Look guis. They made Claris look pro. Four arm crankset, internally routed shifter cables, same shifter shape as 105.
How long before Tiagra Di2 is released?
>>1052448
Also its now 9 speed.
That's cool, but I just got full Claris shit except crank arm/chainrings.
My front shifter has 3 click stops, but I only have 2 gears. Is it possible to get the new Claris 3x front and use my old shifter?
>>1052454
Quite possibly with a bit of tinkering, I dont know much about triple setups. Not sure if they are rated to 9 speed only on this new claris
If you care about head injury why not wear a motorcycle helmet?
Why not wear a bicycle helmet?
Why not wear a bicycle helmet while jogging?
>>1052450
It's worthless compared to motor helmet.
>cycle to work everyday for the past 3 years
>arrive at desk wearing padded cycling shorts, a cycling coat with reflective elements, and cycling top underneath

It's called polite pleasantries, autist.
>That cognitive dissonance when your coworkers hate cyclists, but like you so they end up saying weird things like regularly expressing concerns for your safety since you ride to work.
Must be what its like being the only black guy in an office.
>>1052164
Non-cyclists are generally speaking clueless when it comes to cycling. Even some cyclists are clueless when it comes to cycling. I encounter this all the time, and frankly it drives me a bit nuts.
>"How far did you ride, Anon?"
>Tell them 40 miles
>"How can you do that, that sounds insane! I don't even like driving that far!"
>mfw it's a middling distance and about a third of that was me just getting warmed up
>mfw they don't believe me when I tell them about the 70, 80, 90, 100 mile days
...
>mfw more than 2 cyclists riding in a group is a 'race' to non-cyclists
>mfw riding more than an hour or so is regarded as 'extreme'
>mfw averaging 20mph or higher for any length of time is regarded as 'extreme'
>mfw riding far or fast gets me accused of being a liar
>mfw your average doctor refers to the training to road race that I do as 'extreme exercise'
>mfw your average doctor thinks I'm 'obsessed with exercise' and half the time offers me an antidepressant
>mfw your average doctor tells me "Anon, you don't need to do such extreme exercise to be healthy, you should just WALK daily for exercise, it's all you really need" (yes, some shit doctor actually said this to me)
>mfw I'm riding in the rain (because I need to put in the miles) and when stopped at a signal someone rolls down their window and asks me if I need a ride somewhere
>mfw I tell them 'no', they don't believe me, keep asking me until the light turns green (this also actually happened to me)
...
>mfw you're riding in full team kit (the team you're actually on), and someone tells you "you'll never go pro, why are you bothering?" (this also actually happened, more than once. Want to strangle them.)
Face it, OP, everyone else; non-cyclists are just plain clueless about cycling and cyclists in general. You just have to smile, nod, and ignore them. They'll never get it, no matter how much you explain shit to them.
Get out of my lane you 2 wheeled fairy!
I try to avoid bus-exclusive lanes as much as possible.
>>1051914
always triggers me when civilians make a bus of like 60 people wait for them to cross or something. Let the bus go first.
>>1051907
You seem to have mental health problems, OP, I suggest you try fixing them with some duct tape.
Other than 9/11, why has air travel gotten so shitty in the last 20 years?
>>1051190
its a market economy
consumers want cheap flights at convenient hours with no layovers, so the airlines have obliged that desire. nobody is forcing you to fly Spirit.
>>1051193
This. People want their cheap fares. Crowded flights with the Wal-Mart crowd are the hard knocks.
>>1051190
>nonreclining seats
this is a good thing
How much would /n/ pay for this bike / would /n/ pay for this bike if they were to use it for city commuting and occasional training rides?

>Size 52

If it's in good condition with new tape, cables, tires, etc, fresh greased hubs, and so on, I'd pay $250
Oh wait
>Bianchi
Make that $399 because of the letters on the frame
>celeste
Make that $500 because of the color of the paint
