Just bought this for riding around the trails at my farmhouse in the countryside. Did I make a mistake?

You did make a mistake by not posting in the Bike Questions General thread.
Sage to the max. Delete your thread, noob.
The bike looks superb.
What >>1055533 said, but if you paid over $700 you got raped.
>alivio dérailleurs
>suntour fork
>no name cranks
>wheel are probably shit
>placeholder tier seat
I have a specialized hardrock and I like it. I didn't break anything on this bike for over five years despite being over 100kg and riding fairly aggressively.

>alivio(which is bretty good nowadays)=shit
>suntour XCM,not the best, but with maintencance is a good budged fork

You are a fucktard.

Really nice looking bike, been thinking of a Scott scale 945 myself, sram 1x11 (don't think it exists in the US though).

I say this one costs under 500
>>1058257
this bike is about 600
for about 800 you can get one with an air fork and double crankset w/ deore tho

A Specialized is never the wrong bike. I habe a hard rock and it is fucking beast. Never failed me, no matter how.many times I ended up bashed around on him.

Yes, I'm sure Specialized specs their entry-level mountain bikes with decent wheels.
Most bicycle hobbyists actually think "high-end" name brand shit are the only parts which are quality. They only have enough experience to be able to tell the difference in parts based on names. They think ENVE carbon rims are good and everything else is junk even though they couldn't tell you what double wall rims are, what butted spokes are, and couldn't identify any spoke pattern. They couldn't even service a wheel or a fork themselves.
What kind of wheelsets do you see these ignoramuses on? Mavic Ksyriums, Reynolds, ENVEs. Always in the shop for broken spokes. Low spoke counts, proprietary spokes, ultra high tension. These are racing wheels, not good for everyday riding. Go with something traditional like Mavic Open Pros, or Velocity brand. DT swiss too, but most of their wheels seem to be tubeless. Ever see a Fred trying to peel a clincher tire off of a tubeless rim? These wheels can be built light too, and you can build and repair them without a professional wheelbuilding setup.

Depending on price but specialized is a good bike.....
I also have a specialized bike for 3 years now, never let me down, have tested it in worst scenarios and have over 2k kms on the road (both mtb and street).
It looks like the new model of mine.

Specialized makes shit bikes, just like all companies. Yes, they make awesome bikes, but they also make shit bikes (i.e. Crosstrail, FUCK hybrids with suspension)

>Specialized makes shit bikes, just like all companies
Not strictly true. Most of the largest companies indeed make some shit bikes too, that's how they get as big as they are, they have to appeal to all consumers. There are however some companies that only produce decent bikes, some only produce really high end stuff but others cater to the mid tier too.
Names that come to mind are Canyon, Mondraker, Transition, Commencal, Nukeproof. These companies mostly specialise in mountain bikes but some have road bikes too (but still quality). There are some companies that only make decent mountain bikes but for some reason decided to dip into the "comfort bike" market which brings their reputation down, Lapierre for example.
