Does anybody else really like depressing sort of train stations? I can't really explain it, but I'd rather go to a depressing train station than a futuristic utopian one.
I agree in general, but with two caveats.
1) It better not smell like piss.
2) I better not feel like I'm about to get stabbed.

Want something really depressing?
>be me sitting on a bench in a train station
>think about a time 13 years ago
>10 years old with a best friend named Chelsea, I knew I loved her even then
>I drew her a Valentine's Day card
>She says it's the sweetest thing ever and she loves it
>grow up as best friends
>around age 13 I tell her I love her
>start dating
>at around 14 Chelsea tells me her parents are moving
>she promises never to forget me
>break up due to the distance, start getting pissed about everything
>at 16 she BEGS me to come visit her
>Fuck you Chelsea, you broke my heart
>please anon... just once
>fine.png
>she doesn't look like she used to, she's a lot thinner
>tell her that I hate her, I didn't want her to know that I still loved her
>skip ahead a year until I turn 17
>find out Chelsea died of brain cancer that was diagnosed when she was 15
>wtfdidIdo.jpeg
>go to her funeral, see her mother and stepfather there
>her mom is crying her eyes out
>hands me a letter from Chelsea
>"Anon... I know you hate me but I'd really appreciate it if you helped my mom clean out my room... just one last favor."
Do what she says...
>accidentally knock her wallet off her desk while helping her mom clean her room
>it folds open and tucked behind it is a ragged piece of paper
>unfold it and see that it was the card I drew for her years ago
>her mom sees it too and says I was all she talked about by the hospital bed
>I wasn't supposed to find out
>she kept the note in her wallet so I would always be with her
>keep crying for several days after that and get depressed because of how I treated her.
I'm so fucking sorry Chelsea... I'll never forget you. I can never move on.
>>1049995
Thanks for sharing anon, I'll tell you something, people tell you to "Move on" when something bad happens to you, Chelsea wouldn't want you to move on, remember her and treasure the fact that you were a part of her life.
Best wishes anon
I recently purchased a cyclocross bike from bikesdirect and realized objectively that this bike is the absolute best for commuting
- big tires for cushioned ride on bad roads and trails
- endurance geometry for comfortable upright riding position
-disc brakes
- roadbike handlebars for downhill
However, I've begun to realize that ultimately a completely upright posture with the handlebars close to my body would be the most optimal way to ride my bike, it literally feels like you are running 15mph.
But I can't find any bars that can simulate this type of bar positioning. The bars would have to be close to my body and parallel to my body at the handles (as this is more naturally ergonomic). Something like an L shaped one.
So are there any handlebars like this or am I going to have to design my own? In the event I have to i would love to post the results on here.

>a completely upright posture with the handlebars close to my body would be the most optimal way to ride my bike
No, it wouldn't.
>>1069250
Well technically due to air resistance it wouldn't, but as far as comfort and generally most riding I do, it's fine.
>>1069246
replace your stem for one that allows you to get the position you desire in the flats of your current bars and add a pair of interrupter evers so you can brake from the position
how on earth is this insane wackjob so popular?
Cagers no doubt call you crazy for choosing not to cage, yes?
Well, it's kinda like that, but for meat and dairy.
Stop getting so triggered by other people's dietary choices. You don't *need* meat and dairy, it just makes life easier for those of us who are willing to accept the tradeoffs on environmental, ethical, and public health issues. Don't start with the "but we're healthier with CAFO", antibiotic resistance and colon cancer say otherwise. And yes, I eat meat. Just a polite reminder that you're out of your league here.
Because he's a cool guy and a great cyclist.
Because he is baiting super hard and has the money to do it proper.

http://www.morgenpost.de/berlin/article210425729/ICE-nach-Berlin-entgleist-am-Hauptbahnhof-in-Dortmund.html
The ICE 2 trainset was just leaving the Dortmund station and travelling at low speed when the last three cars of the set derailed.
How does a modern high speed train derail so bad when travelling at low speed?
Could it have been railroad switch malfunction?
Only two passengers were slightly injured since the train was travelling at low speed.
I don't know because this happens in America every 2 weeks
I envy you first worlders who experience a profound crisis in the unfathomable event of a derailment
http://www.focus.de/panorama/welt/-masterplan-worked-train-crashed-with-no-survivors_id_7060149.html claims people were on the tracks shortly before and speculates it might be sabotage.

Points can always be picked. Lots of things can happen with switches, amigo.
Should I get a quality e-bike or a beater car? I have been car free for a few years and it has been great but I'd like to increase my mobility. I demoed a Trek with the Bosch power assist system and it was impressive. Living in a region where temperatures stay in the high 90s/ low 100s most of the year, I'd like to arrive at my destination not totally zapped and drenched in sweat.
Yeah, I'd say go for the ebike. A really really good pedals assist bike can be had for $3-4k, and you will just cruise along comfortably doing 25kmh until you reach your destination. Don't pay the petroleum jew, the insurance jew, the registration jew, etc
>>1069182
This. Get a good quality E-bike and avoid paying the petroleum, insurance, registration and repair Jews. I'd just make sure you can easily mount plenty of large panniers and it doesn't have super small weight limit so you can fit stuff into the panniers when needed.
Thanks for the replies. I'm in the us and the Trek super commuter I'm looking at is limited at 45kmh(around 28mph). I'm thinking if I go the e-bike route I can do things like haul my dog/ all kinds of stuff on a trailer with ease, move to a more affordable property out of town, and stop my non cycling friends from trying to make me accept rides. Hmm...
What is your favorite type of road bike /n/? My personal favorite is flat bar road bikes. They're so versatile and utilitarian! But still really fast because they are, after all, road bikes!
>BAIT BIKE!
who gives a fuck what you call your bike you autistic nigger
all i see is a decent bicycle with modern features
neck yourself
For me, it's the drop bar hybrid.
My stupid ass POS fucking FitBit has broken (for the 5th time) and is no longer under warranty and I need your help to buy a new computer.
It must be:
Waterproof
GPS
Easy to switch between bikes.
<$300
So far I've found this guy:

Any suggestions are appreciated.

CATEYE
My mom is moving and we need to get rid of this bike left at her house by my sister's friend, which has been sitting in her backyard for a year after the person never bothered picking it up. I'm actually surprised nobody stole it from her since the yard isn't even fenced. It was out there during the winter, so I'm not sure if that may have had some negative effect on part(s) of the bike. I haven't tested it out yet, but will obviously do so before selling.
All I know is the brand name is 'Specialized'. If you could let me know anything else worth noting about the bike, its parts, etc. including an asking price for selling that would be great.
More pictures: https://imgur.com/a/Bq8FS
It's a Specialized P.2, probably from around 2006.
http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2006&Brand=Specialized&Model=P.2&Type=bike
As it is I'd say $250 at most but don't be surprised when people offer under $200. Might be worth putting a new chain on, cleaning up some of the rust with a brass brush, and then taking it to a bike shop to check over stuff like brakes, bearings, and the fork.
>>1068959
Thanks.
I ended up finding out the following as well, which seems to differ a bit what's mentioned in that link. Mine has:
Rear Derailleur: SRAM X9
Front Derailleur: SRAM x7
And I'm assuming that 250 you mention is USD? I'm in Canada, which technically makes 250 USD = 340 CAD. I supposed I'll make that my asking price or best offer.
And yea, I'm considering bringing it into a local bike shop
/n/-kun, am I kawaii? Uguu~

Wow, that's not exactly information that begs sharing anon. We're all frie/n/ds here, but we generally leave the sizing up of our anatomies to our various bike components as a private pleasure.
I saw some guy in a full piece business suit and no helmet riding his bike in the middle of morning city traffic.
What the HELL was his end game?

That's my dream. The ultimate "I love cycling, I'm getting shit done, fuck you."

Hey /n/, any here know how I should re-grip my longboard? Its a landyachtz battle axe 2015.
It has that weird spay on/clear grip I'm not tok sure which it is.
Either way, the front part of the board has its grip worn away and its real slippery now.
I want to know if I should go out and get more clear grip or I can go with regular black griptape. And if so, If I can just put it on top of the old grip or do I have to do some weird shit to the old stuff first.
>>1065690
Nope, this is used for transport.
Skateboard= playing
Longboard= how I get to my shitty job because I cant afford a car and school

>be me
>riding my enduro bike
>rear brake suddenly starts screeching really loud mid-ride
>forget to fix it after ride
>ride again, screeching really loud whole time, but still has full stopping power
>figure it's dirty pads/rotor
>remove pads to clean/sand them
>turns out they have no braking surface left
>literally none
>bare fucking metal
>yet the brake still provided very good stopping power, just was screechy, and only screechy the last ride and a half
How the actual fuck
Pic unrelated, random pic from my /n/ folder
You can brake just fine with no brake pads, metal on metal generates friction just fine, the problem is that metal on metal also generates a lot of heat and wears the braking surfaces out extremely quickly.
>>1069044
Well my rotor hasn't desintegrated yet so I guess I it didn't get worn out that quickly
when was the last time you checked your brake pads?
