I have noticed that for like a week after I lube my chain, my bike is actually HARDER to ride.
I don't know if I'm lubing it incorrectly or something, I wipe it down before lubing then lube. But seriously for the first week or 30 miles or so while the gears change more smoothly it's actually harder to pedal. Then from miles say 30 to 150 its way easier to ride even though the gears change way harder by the end
What the fuck

You need to clean your chain properly and thoroughly before lubing it. Also what was the last time you pulled off your cassette and cleaned it, and pulled off your crankset and thoroughly cleaned the chainrings (which may require disassembling them from the cranks)? You can't expect a dirty drivetrain to perform properly, and just throwing some lube at it won't do it.
Also I've used the lube in your pic and didn't like it, I prefer pic related instead.
when i got pic related the sales guy told me it's not the kind of bike you leave unattended, so no point in buying a lock - is that true?
Yes and no. Casual bike thieves will be deterred by a proper lock, but less casual ones will recognise that it's valuable and go at it with powertools.
You need to secure both wheels and the frame if you're going to be more than 10 seconds away from it. Those deep dish wheels are basically a 'I'm expensive' mark.
Yes. If you leave it unattended in public for more than a few seconds, plan to never see it again. Use that bike when you go out to ride and just ride and won't be leaving your bike. Get an old (80s or 90s) steel bike on Craigslist for commuting. >>>/n/bbg can help you pick one out. Road or mountain depending on use (mountain is nice if you'll be only doing short commutes and commuting in snow/ice/etc, road is nice if doing longer commutes and adventure rides)

There's also thieves who'll steal the shifters and brakes, seatpost and pedals too. Possibly the derailleur too.
All you'd need to steal that stuff is a multitool and some cable snippers. And if it's got 'dura ace' or whatever the SRAM and campagnolo high ends are then they sell for hundreds.
So my friend wanted me to go biking with him. I bought a used bike for $20 just to see if I would like it. I did and bought this. I like it but have read some negatives about Diamindbacks. What do you guys think?
>>1090077
It's an overdrive pro 27.5
Just ride and form your own opinion. It'll be months before you notice why it could be a bad bike but until then enjoy the fuck out of it.
>>1090077
Diamondback is an unusual brand.
They make the full range from literal trash all the way up to top-tier full suspension monsters.
>>1090078
The overdrive pro 27.5 is a very, very good bike. The REBA is enough fork for anyone but the most hardcore professionals. You have thru-axles front and rear and a tapered headtube so stiffness will be top-notch. Hydraulic discs, clutched derailleur, etc.
You're set for a good long time.
I need to buy a few tubes but I don't want to take my bike to the store (too far to carry a hunk of metal with a flat)...
Is "700c" enough information to get the right kind of tube?
Pic related
Oops. I meant for that to go in /bqg/ sry but whatever.
You'll need the tire width too. Inner tubes are sold as something like '700c x 23' where 23 is the tire width.
700c x tire width. Tubes usually have a range of widths, like 700x25-28. Tire width printed on sidewall usually.
From a distance yours look like 25's-
Is there something unsafe or dangerous about the Y foil design even with modern materials? Why does the UCI ban the Y frame design? Why do they claim the weight minimum is to prevent a compromise in bicycle frame integrity yet they allow manufacturers to slim the frame and compensate with small weights?
Please explain this conundrum to me...
>>1089762
yeah, it looks gay as fuck.
>>1089762
>UCI
Found the problem.
looks like a bike for edgy 12 year olds haha really a GAY bike!
don't, you'll regret it
get last year's model cannondale synapse for a similar price
>>1089545
Lowest I saw a 2016 Cannondale Synapse for was 600 which isn't a similiar price to 400. Am I a retard and looking in the wrong place?
>Cant turn my wheel too much because my foot is in the way
>>1089497
Just download more fork rake faggot!
>>1089497
>wah-wah i cant handle toe overlap
learn2bicycle retard
Whose fucking idea was it, and why did the industry buy it, that the wheels need to be no more than 1 meter apart otherwise the bike is unsteerable?
You can't get a modern bike without toe overlap and your heels rubbing against the chainstays because muh 5mm shorter tail.
My pedals always break and I don't know why, as I'm not a fatass.
Please recommend me some flat pedals or I'm going to buy chink shit again, pic related
>>1089431
Not sure what your budget is but crank brothers makes pretty good flats.
https://www.crankbrothers.com/category/pedals/
Flat ones are at the bottom.
>My pedals always break and I don't know why
>I'm going to buy chink shit again
I think I found your problem OP
>>1089432
too late, I already got not so chink pedals.
I hope they at least last a little longer.
I am already at my 4th pair in two years.
>>1089433
ikr. the (((chink))) manipulates me into spending large amounts of money on aliexpress
Any cyclists from China here?
I'll be going there this summer and would love to find some cycling related job. Could anyone point me to some forum or community where I should start looking for one?
Thanks
You know how to weld aluminium?
I've got a great place where you can start.
Well, sadly not. But thanks mate!
Enjoy your dead lungs
Was ripping out the interior of my 2001 Subaru Impreza wagon cleaning out mould when I came across this box. It was just sitting on top of the airbag controller (I think, it was another metal box under the ash tray) and the cable had been cut so it wasn't connected to anything. What is it?
Rear side
some sort of security system? could be factory but most luckily Aftermarket. I don't know if early Subaru's where easy to steal or just a theft magnet because of how fast / robust they where (or both).
It doesn't have much going on, it looks like some kind of voltage regulator, or power supply.
Best bet is that it was supposed to power something.
Where can I buy a cheap, used bike, that isn't craigslist or a bike shop? In SoCal if that helps
Do you west coast faggots have flea markets?
>>1088347
>poor person in Cali
Shocking.
Spend an hour and a half a day in traffic in a nice car, or spend it in a cramped subway car?
Spend it on my bike
neither
Subway. Driving in traffic is infuriating. Plus I'd stand on the subway cause /fit/
How do I achieve this aesthetic?
Anytime I see a dingus on a folding bike, March of the Gladiators plays in my mind
>>1086965
Why are those small wheeled bikes so cool?
only old men can achieve such an aura. I think it is a product of being completely done with fashion and married. I have not yet reached bike clothenlightenment though so take my words with a grain of salt.
I've been riding road with MTB shoes for a few years now. Recently, I tried one of my friend's road-specific shoes and found them quite slippery and unstable off the bike, are there more walkable road shoes besides pic related? Should I just stick with MTB shoes?
I'm not planning on doing a lot of walking with road shoes, I'm just worried of being completely defenseless in case I need to get off the bike for an emergency like a cager/nigger attack.
>>1085629
IMO cleated road shoes are basically required.
>>108563
What do you mean exactly? The shoes in the OP are cleated, with SPD shoes instead of SPD-SL.
Don't bother. There is no real reason to use Road shoes over MTB shoes for a normal person.
>too autistic to call out or even ring bell when approaching a pedestrian on the bike path from behind
>try changing gears a lot so that the notice me, but this rarely works
>either ride around them onto the grass or road, or whizz past them really close and pedal away as fast as possible while they yell in shock
Thanks so much for the blog post. Now go kill yourself.
>>1084558
I just yell beep-boop or meep-meep.
Screeching brakes or music played on loudspeaker works too.
I rattle the brake levers when i don't want to be so loud to scare pedestrians.
>>1084558
I just yell "ACHTUNG!" verry loud, the get scared and go out of my way.
