What do you think /n/? I have a ding on the top tube of my 85/86 Bianchi Vittoria with Columbus Formula One tubing. Would this ding compromise the bike as a commuter?
looks like bike HIV ... best to put it down before it turns to full blown bike AIDS
Put on some touch up paint or even clear nail polish to keep the metal from rusting and it may outlive you. These little dents will hardly affect how the bike rides. The strength of the frame is affected, but it won't fold up unless you ride like Martyn Ashton.
the areo is ruined for sure.
This is like finding a unicorn:

>Bicycling Magazine: Star Power She was addicted to data—could anything help her rediscover the sweet thrill of riding unencumbered?
>May 7, 2015 | By Gloria Liu
>It started with a missed lunch ride. ... "We should give ourselves gold stars for every day we get out for a ride," I said. ... Taylor and I started putting one on a calendar for every day that we rode. She christened the system "Star-va."
>It's a far cry from the way I tracked my riding when I worked at TrainingPeaks, a developer of power-analysis software. Back then, I had a power meter, a heart-rate monitor, and a coach. Every ride had a purpose: intervals at threshold, single-leg drills, pyramid drills. I'd upload my Garmin files and gape at the stats. I got faster. But that didn't make my obsession less ridiculous. Because no matter how many extra watts I eked out, I still was just me, a middle-of-the-pack amateur racer.
>Such disciplined riding began to feel tedious, and I burned out. Then one day I came to this realization: People like me do not need to endure this kind of pain on a regular basis. I told my coach I needed a break. ...
>... And it seems to be working. I recently did a virtual race on a CompuTrainer. Afterward I was surprised to see that my power numbers were not much lower than when I had rigorously trained six days a week. Go figure.

Tl;dr since kids don't like reading even three paragraphs:
>Because no matter how many extra watts I eked out, I still was just me, a middle-of-the-pack amateur racer.
>Such disciplined riding began to feel tedious, and I burned out. Then one day I came to this realization: People like me do not need to endure this kind of pain on a regular basis. ...

So no matter what non-athletes will remain non-athletic despite torturing themselves by trying to train like pros. Who would have thought?
>ride for fun
>don't care about having a minmaxed training plan
>have tons of fun riding
>ride tons because it's so much fun
>have a strict training plan
>only care about the training plan and don't ride for fun
>riding isn't fun
>don't ride as much because it's a chore
If you have tons of fun riding you end up riding a lot just for fun. For most amateurs that's better than following a strict training plan that makes most rides the definition of miserable. Combine strict training plan with unpredictable weather and you end up with bunch of people who end up hating everything to do with bikes. Training like a professional athlete is fucking awful and pretty much impossible for anyone who has a job.
Go riding when you want and ride like you feel that day. Be it maximum effort intervals or a leisurely recovery spin, or anything in between. And if the weather is shitty take a day off or go to the gym.
>worry about it breaking
>worry about it getting stolen by niggers
>worry about getting rammed by vehicles who hate bicycles
>can't ride it in the winter
>get laughed at for being a virgin who can't afford a car
i fucking hate this shit
>Buy cheap as fuck used bike
>Drive it into cars just for fun and for adrenaline
Who else dies this?
you already made this post and no one cared you racist shit stain.
Why are a lot of cycle routes designed so poorly in the UK
Are your countries cycle names this bad?
>Gates designed to slow you down or stop you entirely
>Lack of dropped curbs meaning road bikes cannot be used.
>Cycle lanes shared by pedestrians
>Cycle lanes that just suddenly stop

I'll start: I've owned this MTB frame for a decade now and this is the first time I've ever actually put knobby tires on. Gonna go and do some rigid dropbar mountain biking this week.
Frame is brand new, i also replaced the crankset and the cassette. Will replace the wheel in time when i get the money.
got new tires. bought it in 2011.

What does /n/ think of Metro-North?
>>1086336
This model was just released in N scale. And the New Haven line used to be run by the New Haven railroad. And it somehow survived Penn Central management relatively intact.
I think it's pretty cool that the Northeast was able to keep its electrified inter-urban passenger rail system. So props to them.
>>1086399
Yeah, coming from the West Coast, the New Haven Line is pretty impressive in terms of speed and frequency. What are the branches like, though (like up into Westchester and beyond)?

only train ive been on is metronorth so idk how it compares
1. NO tattoos.

This is gonna be a rough one.
I got dat O.C. all lined up.
Also not going to be posting much Batty.
Yes, she's glorious. We've seen every still ever taken of her about a billion times.
Hi this thing is on my bike. I want to go bike touring. Do I need to buy more parts? Can I attach panniers?
How do I use it?
yes, you can attach a pannier to your front rack but you want most weight on the back if you have one there
>>1096728
Another view
>>1096729
This is not like any other front rack that I have seen. Can I attach panniers to it straight away, or do I need to get additional bars
I'm traveling to Norway from the US tomorrow by plane but I am deathly scared of flights. How did you get over your fear of flying?
>>1095629
The pilots are highly trained and the machines are extremely well engineered and redundant. What specifically are you worried about?
>>1095632
Just all of it. It feels extremely unnatural to be in a metal tube in the sky. I'm worried about air pockets and the fact that the flight is so long. It all just feels wrong. I'm worried about the plane crashing.
>>1095633
>air pockets
what the hell is an air pocket? you're psyching yourself out
How do your suburbs travel to innercity? In my country it is mostly buses. In İstanbul we have ferries to suburban isles and other places. But they are unstable in winter. Fog, storm and snow can be a bitch.
In Seattle:
>express bus from northern and eastern suburbs (there is commuter rail too, but no one rides it)
>express bus and commuter rail from southern suburbs
>ferries and water taxi from the islands in the west
>private employee shuttles for Microsoft employees
Cars have a pretty small mode share among downtown workers, but based on the state of I-5 S every morning a lot of people drive alone anyway
>>1094320
Why is commute train not popular? Seattle looks pretty liveable.
>>1094326
I suspect that the Sounder-train isn't popular because stations are far away, it's slow and frequency is shit, like couple of trains in rush hours and only buses at daytime. The service seems to be slow due to busy, curvy coastal route shared with freight trains.
Also there are direct bus services from suburban neighborhoods and park-and-ride terminals to downtown Seattle which people rather take than commute to train station and then take a train from there.
I'm just guessing, never been in Seattle but done some studying about transit in Seattle.
How do you get over the fear of leaving your bike out in the open unattended to take it anywhere, even locked up?
I would like to use my bike as a way to travel to places like restaurants, etc instead of using a car, but I just cannot get over the fear of leaving it locked to bike stops even with a few U-Locks like I have. Anytime I bring my bike anywhere, I literally bring it into the building and have to hope the people will allow it
I don't have like some carbon fiber racing bike or something, but it's definitely a nice looking road bike
It's just not really a problem. All you have to focus on is the 'crimes of opportunity'; get yourself a u-lock for the bike, and a cable lock for your wheels if they're quick release. It's gonna stop a small-time dickhead walking by without a lot of tools or time. Anyone who really wants to take your bike is going to, so don't go further than that.
Try to keep it in sight, and if you can't, don't leave it for too long. What else can ya do?
>>1092025
>How do you get over the fear of leaving your bike out in the open unattended to take it anywhere, even locked up?
Either you lock up a bike that you absolutely do not give one single fuck about, or you never let it out of your sight, or you choke on the anxiety forever.
Those are your options.
Get a beater, you cunt.
