>too autistic to call out or even ring bell when approaching a pedestrian on the bike path from behind
>try changing gears a lot so that the notice me, but this rarely works
>either ride around them onto the grass or road, or whizz past them really close and pedal away as fast as possible while they yell in shock
>>
Thanks so much for the blog post. Now go kill yourself.
>>
>>1084558
I just yell beep-boop or meep-meep.

Screeching brakes or music played on loudspeaker works too.

I rattle the brake levers when i don't want to be so loud to scare pedestrians.
>>
>>1084558
I just yell "ACHTUNG!" verry loud, the get scared and go out of my way.
>>
>>1084558
Just go past quietly and fast. Ringing a bell just causes them to scatter in all directions making overtaking impossible.
>>1084769

I always ring the bell, and I'd be too autistic not to.
Especially as I'm overtaking dog owners 90% of the time and they always need to prepare their flea ridden shits to stay put.
>>
>>1084801
>Ringing a bell just causes them to scatter in all directions
This. Most assume bell=horn=emergency omg cant brake crash doom fight flight freeze. That's why i prefer stating my presence vocally.
>>
I yell at them as loud as possible while doing the sickest skid, bike paths are not meant for pedestrians, fuck them.
>>
>>1084801
>Just go past quietly and fast.
Sadly that isn´t always possible.

>dogs
I almost had some troubble recently with a dog on the bikelane.
>known to be training route for road bikes
>sign says keep dogs on lace
>drive 30-35km/h on bikelane
>2 persons walking with dog
>1m (3ft) still free
>more than enough space to pass
>drive to left hand side to pass
>dog jumps to the left
>no lace
>fugg.jpg
>pull brakes as hard as possible
>almost fly ober handlebars and lift off rear wheel
>stop litterally 30cm (1ft) before dog
>owner yells at me for "speeding"
>claims that I should only ride walking speed
>I say there is a sign about dogs and laces and his dog was almost killed due to him being a idiot and this is a bike way and I am allowed to drive as fast as I want
>and drive off
Next time I may not be able to slow down fast enoght and my 25mm tyres will cut the dog in half...
>>
>>1084801
I always ring the bell while I'm still far away. Gives them time to look, mostly works.

Slowing down and playing with brake levers works wonders. Assuming the worst for a surprise direction change never has hurt either.
Some leashes are hard to see, so slowing and notifying others of your presence is the best approach. Doggo owners will know best if their pet behaves right or needs to sit.
After passing, it's time for pic related again.
>>
>>1084827
I know that was your instinct, but you should've killed that dog

>Approaching a group of walkers from behind
>Three Chads and two Staceys spread across entire path
>Start verbalizing my presence as I prepare to pass
>"on your left"
>No response
>"ON YOUR LEFT!"
>Don't move, don't look back
>Only a few feet behind them now
>I don't know what to do
>"LEFT! LEFT! LEFT!"
>I am yelling the loudest I have ever have in my life
>They don't budge
>Forced to ride on the grass as I pass them
>Hear Staceys giggling as I overtake them

I rather risk my life riding with cagers than share a path with walkers

THIS!

also another greentext:
>ride downhill on my roadbike
>like 50-55km/h
>on bikelane seperated from road
>small road intersects with bikelane
>bikelane has priority
>blonde woman driving a red Golf arrives
>drives turns right from road over to bikelane
>no indicators
>not looking if nobody is driving there
>bikelane instantly blocked
>car is driving 20-30km/h at this point
>4m in front of me
>turn right instanly
>car doesn´t stop
>go offroad with 25mm slicks
>and 9bar of pressure
>make it with less than 10cm clearance
>and car still moving
>drive back on bikelane still driving like 40km/h
>look back
>car didn´t even stop
>car was 10m behind bikelane now

Get a bell, ring it when you're still a moderate distance away. They'll turn and look and make room.

It's the pro autism way, because you don't have to talk, you just press the bell button and they move out of the way.

The only problem is when they're listening to headphones and can't hear the bell.
>>

I do this too, but it feels top autism

I've scared a lot of pedestrians

>end up kind of clotheslining him / banging my elbow against his head pretty hard
>his hat goes flying off
>guy is fucking pissed
>friend is losing his shit
>I just ride away feeling kind of bad
Honestly the guy was an asshole and totally deserved it, but I still feel bad since I'm not a confrontational person, plus I ended up hitting him way harder than I intended to

Projecting much? This is why everyone hates you outside of this circle-jerk board.
>>
>>1085514
This.
>>
The problem is, when you come to areas like MUPs or parks or whatever, is that the people walking there are otherwise exclusive cagers, and thus carry over all that attitude.
They do not care how carefully you go around them on the grass. They do not care about much leeway you give while passing or how much notice you may try to give them. (Whether it's a bell, or beeping, or shifting gears, or clearing your throat.)
They're entitled cunts and just don't give a shit, and thus, I not only do not care when I startle them, but delight in it.

>>1084801
This. Nine times outta ten, you try and alert a pedestrian and they jump right into your path.

This, works flawlessly every time.

Except when encountering dogs or old people.

Also, cyclists without a bell are literal scum. There is absolutely no reason not have one, there is no need to yell to make your presence known as that only scares people and gives cyclists a bad name. Fuck you.
>>
>>1086757
>he doesn't own a proper roadbike

Watch as i put a bell either on my full sus mbt or fred sled

Have you ever encountered people who walk with a hoodie on? Like one of those rustling wind jacked hoidies? Yup, those people don't hear you untill you are really close. How about the fact that about 70% of walkers have earbuds on?

I do have a bell on my commuter though, but as I participate in other kinds of diciplines, I aint' gonna waste space and money in something that can be fixed by yelling "on your left!"

I do own a proper roadbike nigger, also bells can be incredibly loud. Earbuds are annoying though yes, but here only ~5% of cyclists/pedestrians will use them. And my mentiality with them is that I just kind of force my way past, they should understand its their fault for blocking out one of their most important senses while out in traffic.
>>
>>1085132
This is poor fucking performance. He could easily have reached the bike if he had run a bit faster (right after the smack anyway).

Question is, what do you do once you reach the biker?

I live in realtively small city in Europe with no bike culture whatsoever, but we do have a lot of bike lanes, and as a result pretty much 70% of pedestrians look both sides when crossing.

People learn. Few months ago I stopped maybe 20 cm away from some teen girl after she was the only one of her group who crossed the bike path without looking, I was going around 30 km/h seconds earlier. She looked at me completely horrified and started crying and apologizing on the spot, I just kekked and rode away with the wind, I'm pretty sure she will remember to look both sides for the rest of her life.
A good way to gently help people understand is to pass them by maybe 10 cm when going sonic fast, obviously only if they are walking on the bike paths.
