Hi mom

THIS IS VIETNAM THE MOVIE
What are your thoughts on support arms on weapons, like on the m56 in Aliens?
It's a neat concept, but mostly unwieldy. I like the idea of sten grips and what not, as mall ninja as I know it is. I find that there's a lot of positive support going backwards from a horizontal handle because it's using the arms natural position to exert force.
On the M56 in Aliens, however, it's not the same. The weapon would be better if shortened and not given to a short-stacked lesbian with an attitude. Jin-Roh does the same exact thing but the weapon is issued to elite (male) soldiers who can use it to maximum effect instead of giving it to a rag-tag group of misfits or standard infantry who can't wield it and its massive firepower worth shit.
>>34379509
I guess the M56 is pretty short though. Maybe it's just the chainsaw grip that gets me. If they kept the original stock I think it would have been a much more effective weapon.
Sks and 1500 rounds of 7.62x39
OR
Tokarev with 1260 rounds of 7.62x25
I want both and I cant choose the one I want to buy right now, price is similar with the tokarev combo being cheaper.

what guns do you have now? if none, get the sks first

Marlin 60
Remmy 700(Fathers,but I basically got it gifted to me)
Maverick 88
For those who carry concealed what do you deem as most important in your gun. Is it caliber or concealability? Does brand matter that much to you.
I'm interested in carrying a firearm in the future and I'm torn between a tokarev or a seecamp .380
>>34379247
ease of carry, carried a full size for a while, can be done but theres a lot to be said about compactness. As for calibre, someone link that study that showed calibre doesnt matter
I have cc experience with two different guns. In the hottest part of the summer I carry a tiny NAA in a kydex clamshell on a string around my neck.
In the winter and much of the summer (UP fag reporting in) I carry a Glock 19 in a hybrid leather/kydex IWB holster.
In retrospect, both are poor choices. I think something like a Glock 43 down to a lcp would be the best compromise in use ability and carryability.
The NAA is no better than a knife. Maybe worse.
The Glock punishes me all day, most days, for carrying it.
So I'd say make sure the gun is giving you a good handle and sights while being as small as possible while doing that.
Make caliber your last consideration. It almost never changes the outcome of a real fight.
>>34379247
If you ask me, for concealed carry caliber becomes less of a concern since it's for personal protection. I carry a makarov and I'd have to say ease of use and concealability are more important factors than the caliber, since unless it's a peashooter or you're facing a hostile army for some reason any caliber should be enough for personal defense. But regardless of caliber, if you can't hold it very well or it becomes burdensome then it's effectiveness is lowered for you.
What does /k/ think about the concept now that it's being thrown in within the House Armed Service Commitee. Should we separate space from the USAF?
Should we proceed as quickly as possible? The US is in a prime position to monopolize space due to its recent surge in launch capabilities.
HASC video on the subject. HASC isn't happy with the USAF and believes that Congress should step in. Related comments start at timestamp 6:15.
https://youtu.be/J2nbWehU9U4
Isn't the USAF the same branch that's been in the news for constant fuckups over the past 8 years?
Aren't they the same branch that can't even handle their fucking nukes?
Air Force should focus on the basics, like their fucked up obesity and the fact that 90% of them are on PT waivers even when they barely move.
I'm torn
on one hand
>NASA have been the ones putting their asses on the line
>NASA has a cooler history in space than the USAF
>why not just let NASA do military shit in space
on the other
>NASA are non-military, the USAF is the god of death
>USAF is under DoD, I don't even remember who runs NASA, but it isn't any kind of military man
>get to keep NASA as the non-military space people
>>34379264
Under the proposed plan, military operations in space would be taken away from the Air Force and put under their own branch, and both the Air Force and Space Corps would be under the Department of the Air Force, which is a civilian bureaucracy.
Helmet fags please help.
Found pic related in bud k
I know they're known for mall ninja shit but do you think I should pull the trigger? I've been wanting more Slav shit and a new helmet since I sold my old Brodie.
Do it op I bought one and it's great will post pics in an hour or so.

Looks like a soviet era ssh-40 or ssh-42
>>34379162
how much? If you want it for actual protection steel is probably not the best bet, but for shits and giggles if its like 30 bucks who cares.
I just detail stripped this fucking thing and all I can say is I know why it lost the M17 contract, and why Apex wouldn't touch the FNS.
FN what the fuck are you doing? What wafflenigger thought it was a good idea to make the sear cage a dozen little pieces with tiny pins and springs everywhere? If you were going to copy one thing from Glock it should have been large, easily serviceable parts.
>>34379091
you brave man
saw pics of the FNS taken completely down on barfcom, looked like a nightmare
>>34379102
Hands down the biggest pain in the ass I've encountered with handguns. It's worse than any 1911 or Hi-Power.
>>34379091
it looked uglier, more anoying to use, and it was more expensive than the glock brand glock.
Seriously what the fuck, who thought this was a good idea? What the fuck does this do for 200 more than a proven frame that is easier in every facet?
its another ruger american pistol, why can't any of these chucklefucks get anything right

How to shoot SMLEs (and other bolt action rifles) when you're left handed?
>>34378676
just shoot right handed like God intended, or just watch fellow left handed degenerate Gun jesus do it.
>>34378676
Train yourself to shoot right handed and stop being a special snowflake.
>>34378676
I shoot with my left hand and operate the bolt with my right.
Why do people think women can't handle recoil? They have a higher pain tolerance than men, so if anything, they should be even more able to handle it. Is this just sexism?
I'm sure this is bait, but aside from during child birth in which the body produces a cocktail of painkilling chemicals, women generally have lower pain tolerances than men
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3293998/#S8title
Euro instructor here. In my experience most women love magnum revolvers, but dislike rifles with heavy recoil.
Not sure why. Maybe simply because heavy recoiling rifles are also heavy, and they have less body strength and weight? Have less meat on their bones to handle the kick?
>>34378459
What do you mean by rifles with heavy recoil? Are we talking 308 Winchester or 375 H&H?
>The United States Special Operations Command just tested a high-energy laser on the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, marking the first time such a weapon has been deployed aboard a rotary-wing aircraft.
>According to a press release from defense company Raytheon, the test was a complete success, “providing solid experimental evidence for the feasibility of high resolution, multi-band targeting sensor performance and beam propagation supportive of High Energy Laser capability for the rotary-wing attack mission.”
Neat. I'm interested in seeing the future of laser weaponry.
Neat results from a first attempt.
>>34378357
Ace Combat...soon.
>>34378367
Forgot to add
>The Apache used a HEL mated with a version of Raytheon’s Multi-Spectral Targeting System, which combined electro-optical and infrared sensors, against a number of targets. The data from this test will be used to future HEL systems to address unique challenges that stem from their installation on rotary-wing aircraft, including the effects of vibration, downwash, and dust.
So more of an initial trial run than anything.
pros and cons of power armor
>bulky so is hard to go through areas
>probably slower reaction then normal human soilders
>logistical problems with battery needing to be supplied
>if one guy's suit goes down the whole team slows down
>can carry heavy equipment

I hope you realize there are multiple variants and styles of power armor.
This is like saying, "what's the pros and cons of an automobile."
I had an idea for an online store /k/
As a former New Yorker, I know the pain of trying to avoid the bullshit laws there. Tons of sites refuse to ship anything to us period and almost all sites will honor the state's bullshit laws about magazine capacities and no ammo shipping.
What if I were to make an online store that specifically catered to NY, CA, MA, etc with the sole purpose being to sell any ammo, mags or other banned items to these states at a fair price. Rather than having to jump through hoops buying bullshit marked up "rebuild kits" and having to buy ridiculous ammo from the store I could just sell and ship banned stuff to anti freedom states.
As far as I know I wouldn't be able to be prosecuted because unless you're operating out of a state that disallows these items (I live in Florida) there would be no way for the states I ship to to prosecute me unless I got caught physically within the state.
To avoid legal trouble just put a mandatory contract you have to accept at the end of the order process saying "I know that I may be accepting items disallowed by my state, if I am caught I will not hold kommandoliberationLLC accountable".
This is my second time trying this thread, I couldn't get any real responses out of the first one aside from people claiming that I would get fucked up interstate commerce laws. I couldn't find anything about ICC or ICA enforcing people not breaking other state's laws. Can anyone explain that to me?
You probably didn't get many replies because k isn't a board dedicated to arguing semantics and implications of inter state trade law.
Why do you think every other company doesn't do this if there are no consequences?
you dug your grave now lie in it
>>34378276
good luck paying the various taxes in every county of NY.
There are a bunch of cyclists riding around on the roads near me and something needs to be done. I don't have a Diesel engine but I think it is possible to inject diesel directly into the exaust like pic related. Would it work with an gasoline engine? Does anyone know how the it worked on soviet tanks?
>>34378057
If you have a newer car it can run on diesel without issue
Yeah just run diesel -- most cars these days are way over-engineered. Anything newer than 2004 should handle it fine.
