Euro instructor here. In my experience most women love magnum revolvers, but dislike rifles with heavy recoil.

Not sure why. Maybe simply because heavy recoiling rifles are also heavy, and they have less body strength and weight? Have less meat on their bones to handle the kick?

Female muscle mass is less dense, so the bigger rifles are probably recoiling straight onto their shoulder bones without much muscle to pad it out.

Plus the significantly less upper body strength probably makes shouldering a 7-10 kg rifle for any length of time uncomfortable, leading to them taking stance shortcuts, leading to increased felt recoil.

Pain tolerance has absolutely nothing to do with recoil management, upper body strength, mass, grip strength, and wrist strength are important factors, several things the average woman is lacking in.

If recoil causes you pain, you're not holding the gun right.

I know it sounds strange, but I don't expect a skinny and short (like 5 foot 4 to zero inches short) chick that may or may not have an eating disorder to take recoil as well as a tall (or even manlet) guy that has a decent amount of meat or fat on him. I think think her body is really built to take something stronger than ."357 Magnum (for pistols, at least) through a regular length barrel" recoil unless she really gets used to it.

Taller and more /fit/ girls, probably, but I won't expect them to like large rifles much because gals just don't have the strength that men have.

Recoil is a huge problem for me. Im fine with my .22 that I carry, but anything bigger than that is too much for me. I tried my wife's bersa and did ok with it. She carries a Glock 43 while I'm stuck with my .22. She takes recoil a whole hell of a lot better than I do. It probably helps that she can bench more than me.

its not about body mass, its about the state of mind.

Skip to the 6:05 mark. The guys and her are shooting some serious loads. She is quite short, so she has to lean way back to offset the weight of the rifle up in the air -- so that puts her a bit 'center balanced'. she is too small to put her weight forward on to her front foot. So, its going to knock her back, but she takes it like a champ and can keep up with the guys.

Childbirth is no longer natural without painkillers anymore. Upper body strength is usually their weakness. If they have big natural boobs then their backs are a bit stronger to support breasts, but that is about it. Otherwise quit taking out of your ass.
