Hi /k/ im looking to get into shotguns (right now I have a AR-15 and Marlin Model 60) and have my eye on Mossberg. Specifically the 500 Hunting All Purpose Field, 500 Tactical and Maverick 88 Security. I figured get the Field for birds/turkey/skeet/etc, Tactical for home defense, and Maverick for a truck gun. Not really into modifying guns from their stock configurations, and I prefer synthetic so I don't really need to worry about water damage to the stock. Are these good choices?

Yes.
Mossberg 500 is going to be the standard response from /k/.
Good firearm overall and you won't regret it.
I personally prefer the OLD Remington wingmaster 870's, but I'm talking about models from the 70's and many people would rather buy new versus trying to gamble on something from gunbroker or waiting for something local to show up.

I just bought my first firearm and it's an 870, I personally love it. Bunch of furniture kits to keep you happy
>>
>>35130312
Only problem I have with the 88 security model is that it's fixed choke and if you want to change out different barrels for skeet shooting or hunting, you have to buy a whole different magazine tube, too. It's fine if it's just going to sit in your bedroom cruiser ready all the time, but not if you planned on having JUST ONE GUN for everything shotgat-related.

Not bad anon.
Though im aussie so i really don't know the standards
I tried the SASR 20 km hike over 8 hours
Got 12km a day down to 1hour and 50 min
But didn't have the 60 kg on me back.
I did this for 4 months straight, no days off .
I'm a fat cunt that smokes like a volcano.
For me i was impressed.
Might take it up again.

Very. Get it down to at least a 21 minute 3 mile.
>>
>>35130284
You're alright for a start, just keep on improving your and try to make the 3 mile mark around 26 minutes.
You'll also have to do pull-ups and curl-ups.

Can plaid act as camo if colored appropriately?

Geometric shapes, i.e squares and rectangles, especially geometric patterns, do not occur in nature. Thus, plaid would be largely ineffective.

Sucks, because I love plaid flannel.

From a distance and hidden behind brush you wouldn't really notice it was a bunch of square to be fair, it's still far from ideal though,

I have no other place do to this but I want a new hobby so I'm selling my PS4 and monitor to 1) pay for some of the shit I need and 2) make space for all of the shit I need. I'll probably just give the PC to my dad.

Haven't even played vidya in six months. If I ever need to all my games are on the PC anyways.

Is this enough space? Post reloading setups with household objects so I can get a frame of reference as to the amount of space they take up.

PS how the fuck do I mount the press on anything? Is this a requirement?
18 posts and 8 images submitted.
>>
I just measured and it's roughly six square feet. There is plenty of room to store components in the cabinets above though.
>>
>>35130207
My reloading set up is 8'x5' with cabinetry and shelves for about eight feet of height. Space is nice, but you really don't need much. Link related is a small setup design idea http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/tag/reloading/. Attach your presses with c-clamps if you don't want to drill bolt holes. Keep in mind, using presses can generate a lot of torque, so you need to make sure the surface you're attaching to is rigid enough.

I have the same issue.

For pistols, I just bring the gun more towards the left, my stance is never a "standard" stance, but I'm still accurate at 25, 30, and 35 yards.

For rifles, desu I just shoot lefty. It sucks massively, but for anything with a sight it's more or less necessary for me.
>>
>>35130077
Same here. With rifles, I shoot magnified optics righty, non magnified and irons lefty. For pistols, I shoot righty in a Weaver stance, but I cant the pistol about 20° to the left so the sights line up with my left eye. An NRA pistol instructor taught me that; looks goofy, feels natural, works very well. It was also surprisingly easy to learn to shoot lefty pistol, Weaver and one handed. With a compound bow, you'll have to shoot lefty, no choice.

No thanks

Thread for new and relatively new shooters, or people who are looking to get into it.
As for me, I recently became hasguns. I built myself an AR15 and bought a nugget. No hand guns yet. But one thing is bugging me. It's not necessarily a flinch, because im not doing it before the shot, and I can take the recoil well. Its not a stance issue, but every single time I shoot, I noticed that I blink. Its not before, its not while im pulling, its when it goes off. Its the bang. I'm not scared of shooting, I absolutely love it, and thats why it pisses me off. I have even slowed down footage of me blinking to confirm when I am blinking. I have gone to the range a few times, and I only have maybe 200 rounds through both of my guns combined. How can I get over this? Just get more used to shooting by putting more and more lead down range?

>Lots of interesting things going on in Syria just now:

>1.The US coalition has stopped surveilling the bus convoy. The RuAF is now operating in strength so far east that the remaining buses are well within the Russian operating area and an agreement was reached for the US lef air to oull back to the east to avoid an inadvertent engagement. ISIS people had reached the buses before the withdrawal of US aircraft from the area.

>2. A Syrian air defense engagement with a pair of Israeli F-15s is reported. Supposedly the Syrians fired S-200 SAMS at the jets which were conducting a reconnaissance over Lebanon. The slant range would be adequate for the missiles to have been fired from within Syria.

>3. A new Syrian ground force has completed Russian led training and will deploy to somewhere in Syria. It will be interesting to learn what they call this outfit. The last one they trained was designated 5th Corps. 6th Corps maybe? Returning refugees are being recruited into the SAA and this will ease the chronic manpower shartage for the SAA. Everyone wants to join a winner and the SAG now looks like a winner.

>4. The R+6 continue to consolidate their positions around Deir al-Zor City to include the military airport which had long been held by IS and the logistics highway that leads back to Sukhna and parts west. This is very important for the civilian population of the Deir al-Zor area as well as the ever strengthening R+6 force around the city.

>5. The IS pocket in Homs Province grows ever smaller under constant pressure from R+6 forces.

>6. The R+6 forces have brought forward a bridging train to the Deir al-Zor area. This convoy has a lot of pontons with it and the intention seem clear to bridge the Euphates so as to deny the SDF control of the east bank of the river and the Syrian territory there.

>7. IS forces appear to be falling back to SE of Deir al-Zor City to somewhere they can make a last stand.

>8. SDF forces have advanced to withing 15 km. of the Euphrates and are in the Deir-Al-Zor industrial area east of the river. A US general made a perhaps vacuous comment at a conference a couple of days ago that the R+6 will not be allowed to cross the Euphrates. This is extremely worrying as a battle between the SAA and SDF might result from such a policy. The two sides are heavily supported by US and Russian air. One would hope that there is some sort of accomodation between the SAG and the SDF as to limits. pl

So, /k/, do I buy this unattractive bolt rifle for 219 bucks?
I already have 308 ammo because AR10.
No bolt guns except .22lr.
What kind of accuracy would I expect?

Buddy has a savage boltgun in .243.
Fun toy, never had an issue.
Accuracy is good enough that my aunt, who's never fired a rifle (seriously), popped tannerite at 100 yards on her first shot.
Pretty sure you won't hear many con's against it from /k/

>>35129135
Get it in a caliber that makes sense. .22-250 or .204 is great for varmints. 6.5 Creedmoor if your goal is long range shooting.
