Hey there. I'm some /k/id that wants to know more about the Iraq war. When it was going on I was very young and didn't care much about military stuff or politics so it was just some shit on the news to me. Now I am interested in that sort of stuff and I have some questions about the Iraq war, both on the strategic and most basic level.
1. Is the rise of ISIS Obama's fault or was Iraq's near-collapse inevitable?
2. What was day to day life like in Iraq? What were the people like? What were the living conditions like? Who were the forces that opposed the American occupation and how did they operate? How did the locals feel about this?
3. How did insurgents procure their weapons?
4. How was the new Iraqi military trained? Why did they fall apart so easily?
5. What were relations like with Assad's Syria like at this time?
6. What were the goals of the Americans during the occupation and how did they try to achieve them?
7. What was Saddam's military like just before the invasion? Is it true that many people thought that Iraq would put up much more of a fight than it did?
8. How did smaller Nato countries (Denmark, Italy, and Poland) that participated in the conflict participate in the conflict?
9. What were relations like with Turkey during this time?
10. What happened to the weapons and equipment of Saddam's military?
>>35140813
that picture is smol brain .
when did america every defeat the kkk in a war? they didnt ever defeat russia as well, but Stalin is there?
>>35140813
1. Yes
2. Hot and boring
3. CIA
4. Poorly
6. The average soldier wanted to stop Saddam from gasing civilians. He never gased civilians and the goal of Bush was to get back and that mean old Arab fella for saying mean things about his pappy some years ago.
8. I know the Polish saved some of our guys who were captured.

10. Again a useless war.
What are the best and worst gun manufacturers and what shapes your opinion on these companies?
Which ones are trustworthy and why?
>>35140670
Ruger is god tier
>>35140670
Kimber is low quality overpriced
HK is high quality overpriced
Walther gave up making real guns to do .22s, haven't bought from them except for an ancient used PPK
Taurus is a fucking huehuehuehuehue monkey shop, don't buy it, I CC'd a Taurus for a while and I was afraid of being confronted.
Smith and Wesson is a cuckolded company, they submitted to the gun control jew, I only own their old stuff.
Remington got bought out by chicoms, they make shit nowadays, but 20th century 870s are the bomb.
Bushmaster is just shit.
Kel Tec makes alright weapons, for what they are, but they're still mediocre and they have lots of vaporware.
Henry is fucking laughable, all of their full size lever actions load via poverty tube, get a marlin instead.
Glock is a murderer but his guns are alright if you're a milquetoast faggot who likes the handling characteristics of a two-by-four.
No experience with Wilson Combat, Kahr, TC (?), NEF, or Merkel.
Everything else I've had positive experience with, Savage is good for poorfags, Browning, Winchester, and Ruger are all admirable American companies.

What can I do with a 37mm launcher and what's the process for finding/making non DD rounds?
>>35140339
do you have a dog?
>>35140378
I thought 37mm was ATF kosher non DD unless it's 40mm
>>35140419
Well, it is fine as long as you shoot proper non-ammo.
You can turn your 37mm into a DD by using it to fire an anti personnel round. What exactally constitutes a round like this is debatable.
The only thing I would be interested in one of these for is it seems to be the only way to get legit teargas, but this is expensive as hell and legally dubious. I would settle for some hand thrown devices but all I ever find are police surplus 37mm gas rounds. Boo
Good idea or not?

I think this is why the EU is going crazy! As in Mental crazy, suicidal!
Do you focus on pratical self defense or fun? I'm gonna get my first two guns, and I know a 9mm and a 12 gauge are probably the most sensible thing to lay a good foundation for a collection, but I really want to drop my money on something like a Beretta and an M1A.
Which should I buy first?
>>35139870
I'd say fun, to get you into the hobby more.
Maybe start with a rifle.
However, my first purchase was for self defense, had this outrageous neighbor...
>>35139896
>had
where did you bury the body anon?
>>35139870
>sensible
9mm handgun and an AR15 in 5.56.
>really want
This will change so much over the years anon especially if you aren't a rich fag. We all want to shoot all the guns, but who wants 5 safes full of shit they never shoot? Buy the guns you will rely on first and then your revolving stable of range toys can be bought and sold as you try all the things.
What does /k/ think of flintlocks?
You can buy a flintlock or matchlock rifle without any gun licence in Canada because they aren't considered firearms.

>add "straight walled" cartridge rifles to list of weapons (basically 45-70, 44 mag)
>add an astounding 2 "bonus days" (yes, that is what they call them) to the gun season

>we cant believe our luck

who else thinks they have it bad where they are?
>>35139546
>actually following hunting laws
Kek, where I live they're merely suggestions. It's just that most everybody here isn't a colossal faggot who feels the need to kill everything he sees.
>>35139776
This is a hypothetical, assuming people do. Although you need plugged for 3 rounds here its not uncommon to hear like 8 in a row. And show me a hunting shotgun that holds 8 rounds. Thread about what is in the books plz
>>35139546
I'm Ohio (937 eyyy), and I hate that I cant use grandpa's old .30-30 like he did when he was around and young enough to hunt.

Moving to New Hampshire whenever I can.
Okay, /k/. I haven't been here long enough to really tell, but I think you guys know your shit. I got a paper to write, and I need some facts about how shitty the original XM16E1 was back when it was first issued in Vietnam and before it was improved as the M16A1. I'm trying to argue that the issuance may have led to unnecessary U.S. casualties. Please reply with any good reliable sources and information below. Thanks.
Mud, jams, weight
>>35139277
>>35139290
Poop is the word I would use to describe these two posts. The m16 was originally shit in Vietnam not because of the weapon itself, but because of the ammunition that was issued. Either the weight of the bullet or the amount of boom boom in the cartridge was off. Enough so the operating system of the weapon was unable to fully cycle itself.
Rifle is fine. Bullet is Blyat.
>>35139277
>how shitty the original XM16E1 was back when it was first issued in Vietnam and before it was improved as the M16A1
Your facts are a little bit backwards there. The M16 came out first, without a cleaning kit and with ammunition that wasn't originally designed for it and had been cheaped out with shitty, dirty propellants. So the weapon tended to gum up, and without a forward assist the bolt getting stuck out of battery was too common. XM16E1 was introduced as a rectifying measure, forward assist was added with chrome barrel and bolt, as well as some other fixes. This was finalized as the M16A1, omitting the chrome bolt for cost savings.
>Very well might have to go innawoods for 15 months
Tips? I got until around the start of next year to prepare.
>>35138963
What? You doing survivor man extreme edition or something?
Camping in woods and still can go to store?
Even though this is more >>>/out/ provide more context please.
>>35138990
Right, sorry. It's a little thing I've been wanting to do for a while. Just want to challenge myself and see life through a different perspective. I'm forcing myself to do it at the start of next year because I really do have to get around to preparing eventually. I live in north-east america, if that helps. Lots of woods around here, that sort of thing. Yes, I can go to the store if need be, as I'll be bringing a good portion of money, around 150 for the whole 15 months I was thinking.
>>35139041
Uh i hope you mean 150k not 150 dollars
Hey guys, so ive recently purchased a Barnett recruit compound crossbow. After opening and assembling it ive found i cant load the damn thing. Its not due to my personal fitness as ive operated much heavier bows before but rather the manual loading mechanism (a rope with two hooks and a grip at either end) wont reach past a certain point. A little incline in the bows body. Am i operating it wrong? Did they send me the wrong part? What the fucks goin on?
>>35138896
Make a belt and claw or belt and pulley.
A gafa or push lever would require heavy alteration, and a windlass or craunquin would not fit on the top.
Or just pull it up.
>>35138896
did it not come with the tool to pull the string back into the ready position?
>>35138896
Can you take a picture for us with the rope and hooks? I'm not quite sure if I know what you're talking about, but sometimes they're premade so that you have to pull the string into the hooks by hand if that makes sense.
