Can plaid act as camo if colored appropriately?

Geometric shapes, i.e squares and rectangles, especially geometric patterns, do not occur in nature. Thus, plaid would be largely ineffective.
Sucks, because I love plaid flannel.

From a distance and hidden behind brush you wouldn't really notice it was a bunch of square to be fair, it's still far from ideal though,

You would probably have better luck with appropriately colored hounds tooth. Oh wait, that's what ACU is made of.
Yes. There's a fairly famous paintballer Oh Pawlack that wore all-plaid, even had his LBE made in plaid by Unique, and had his WGP Autococker anodized in plaid.

Do you guys regularly hunt amongst columnar jointing/crystal caverns?

Wear it op unless your prey has exceptional eye sight. If you can wear blaze orange and still manage to kill a deer I don't think plaid will be much different

Only giants.

You want some Tweed m8. Plaid is for lumberjacks and fagg... it's for lumberjacks.
Plaid was literally the original camouflage, tweed shooting outfits were meant to borrow the colours of the surroundings, using the textile colouring tech of the time, alternating threads in a weave.
It is outdated, but historical.

Sure - you'll blend in perfectly with your surroundings if you're in Seattle circa 1994.
Otherwise, not so much.
